relentless pressure to buy

upon arrival and after checking in at front desk, we were confronted with the hotel manager in charge of guest sevices. She stated that we needed to come to her desk and listen to the courtisies offered by the hotel( in reality a sales pitch to buy into a new wing). We told her we had been traveling all day and would not be interested. As we headed to our room she followed and would not leave us. She became very pushy and stated it was hotel policy and that if we did not comply she would lose her job. We like to treat people with respect and do not like to be rude, but we were not given any choice and ignored her. Once in our room the phone rang. I answered and to my surprise, it was she and still insisting we come to her desk! I hung up and unplugged the phone. We stayed five nights and out of those five, we had no hot water for three days(co-incedence?) Another couple we spoke with had the same experience and the wife said she cried. We will not return!!!

Great except manditory timeshare talk

Clean rooms, great staff, good food but a little overpriced, great beach and pool. Hated the arm twisting to go see a timeshare presentation. Would not take no for an answer. Took me two tequilas to calm down after that. This was my fourth time there and I love everything except the timeshare baloney.

wonderful weekend

Check in was great...10min max!!! We were not asked EVEN once about a timeshare. The rooms were clean, in fact all areas of the hotel were clean. We were there mainly to realx by the pool and do a littel shopping. The busboys were helpful at telling us which buses to take and how much etc. They were always able to answer our questions. [...] was the tour operator for our transfers to/from hotel. We walked right thru the airport and they were waiting with a large sign with our name, 3 min later we were in a car on the way to the hotel. At the end of the trip, the car was ready exacatly when they said they would be.

El Palomar was wonderful--good food and one of the best views in Puerto Vallarta. The restaurant is a converted house--gorgeous--and the 84-year-old owner still visits with guests. She's enchanting!

Love It

We return here every year. You have to get up early to save a chair on the beach, but you never miss the sunrise. (They could use a few more chairs) The people are wonderful at this resort. It is not a brand new hotel but is well maintained. Can't wait till next year!

"Unbeatable location for the price, but"

This was a perfect sunny destination for our vacation. We chose the All-Inclusive option and are very glad that we did. Food was usually always good, especially all the fresh fruit at the breakfast buffet. The but is, be prepared to be hassessed big time, from the moment you step foot into the PV airport, then as soon as you arrive at the hotel. Time-share, time-share, we were pestered by at least 4 hotel staff members before we even got up to our rooms. They don't take no for an answer either. Not a very nice welcome to say the least. The Pirate dinner show, was not what it claims to be. Rude, foul mouth, and lewd. Food was just so so on the evening dinner cruise. The hotel room had very firm mattresses and low quality. We were assigned a room overlooking the back parking lot and tennis courts. The resort however is awesome, lots to do and see. 3 beautiful pools, lush tropical landscaping. Fun sports bar, and 2 restaurants. We really loved it here, aside from the buts. Enjoy

Money-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

You can catch the city bus right in front of the hotel for $.65. Cheap ride, no frills, but sure beats renting a car.

The good, the bad and the really ugly

This was our 4th time staying at the hotel. We enjoyed ourselves until our flight home was cancelled and we did not get any help from [...]or the hotel as to what to do. All 15 in our group got into a van the next day and drove to the airport to find out what options we had of getting home to Chicago. [...] The concierge tried to call but could not get through. We felt abandoned by [...]and totally out of the loop. We were able to book 3 more nights at the hotel and finally got a flight out on Friday, Feb. 4th instead of Feb. 1st.

We prefered to either dine in old town or at the Marina Vallarta. The food at the hotel was mediocre and I would never go inclusive.
