Good Trip Overall
3rd trip to a secrets hotel and we enjoyed our stay as usual. We requested an pref club ocean view and intially ended up on the 4th floor preferred club room. The 4th floor is not really ocean view as there is decorative stone wall across the balcony's that block the view unless you are standing up. all the other floors have the glass railings. No way see over if you are sitting. Requested another room but preferred club was full. They offerred us a room in the regular tower which we declined. Went back the next morning and they did have a master suite available on the 6th floor. We had to pay extra for it but decided to take it. It is a wonderfull suite with a plunge pool. Balcony is huge compared the other master suites on the other floors and this is the only one with a plunge pool. We did spend more time in our room than we had in past trips. Ordered room service a few times for breakfast. We had the best view from our deck. The hotel is close to the downtown and we were able to walk most places. Restaurants were good and similiar to the other secrets resorts we've been to. Drinks were good and they do serve premium alcohol ...just ask for it. Grey Goose Martini's were wonderful. Service was great except for one experience at the Mediteranean restaurant where we waited for over an hour and still no appetizer. When we asked they brough us a main course we never ordered....we asked for our appetizer...again not what we ordered. Frustrated...we got up and left and decided to try the Japanese restaurant. This worked out a lot better. This was only our second night so we were a little concerned. Never had another issue during our stay so must have been an off night. Loved the Sea Bass at the French restaurant and the red snapper at the Mexican restaurant. Great Fish Tacos for lunch at the Oceana. Didn't really like the combination of adults only with Now family resort. Restaurants and amenities are split between the 2 hotels. Found the resort very crowded and noisy compared to the Mayan hotels but expected this as we have been to Puerto vallarta many times. We would upgrade to the preferred club again if we go back to secrets PV. The setup is different than other secrets we have been to and we used the club a lot.

It was Ok
Food wasn't high quality except for the French food. Service was ok, except for them leaving our room service in our "secret box" for days. The beach was the most disappointing...the south side is much prettier.

relaxing vacation
I went to Secrets the last week of October and had a fantastic experience. Not only was the hotel beautiful, but the staff was across the board fantastic. Extremely friendly and helpful. Were there occasional service issues? Sure. But really, the entire staff seemed committed to making sure their guests had a good time. The only downside to staying on the Secrets side of the resort was the vantage/view situation. I stayed in the preferred tower, which was nice, but the terraces face North (I believe) and never are in the sun. You also can't see the sunset from the terraces in that tower. Not a huge deal -- there are great views from the lobby bar and you still have great ocean views from the Secrets tower -- but next time I might consider staying in the Now preferred tower instead. Overall a great trip.

Beautiful hotel
Stay away from their sales pitch session! They tell you it's an hour and a half, but it ends up being four hours! Not to mention, they will not let you leave the sales meeting and will continue to make "offers" to try and wear you down. When we had enough & told them we were not purchasing a vacation package, the sales rep told us "maybe you are not our type of clientel since you can't affford this." We were highly offended since we had just spent several thousands of dollars to travel to their hotel. Never again!!

luxurious and yet good value as everything is included. The only surprise is the photography session. It was advertised as FREE. It turns out the 20-minute session is free but you have to pay to get the pictures. In my case they wanted 299 and that's US dollars, not peso. I felt it was misleading and wish it was clearer.

Stay away from this resort!!!!!!
They claim that this is a adults only hotel. The only thing adults only is the pool, the restaurants are shared with the family resort. If you like having screaming kids while you eat then go here. Also the dress code is awful and strictly enforced. Tank tops are not allowed on guys but are ok on women, sandals are not allowed. Collard shirts are required at all restaurants and long pants are required. We were not aware of the rules and were not allowed into a restaurant, forced to eat room service, for the first 2 days until we found pants that would fit. Horrible resort

Money-saving tip:
In Hotel
This resort will bombard you with trying to convince you to buy a time share and spend more money on upgrades. The upgrades are not worth it. If your a adult dont pay for the adults only, all you get is a adults pool that they dont monitor. Adults only not worth the money.

First Anniversary Trip
We had a great 9 days of relaxation at Secrets. The staff is attentive and amazing and plentiful! The food was great, including the included 24-hour room service. The pool was wonderful, the perfect temperature. We swam in the ocean quite a bit too. It is a good beach, fairly sandy, a little rocky, but still amazing to swim and watch the sunset from the ocean. We even enjoyed the work out room with the perfect amount of air conditioning. My only complaint was that the pool music was too loud and annoying the first days. I am more of a peace-and-quiet type of person. But if you like the music you would find at a wedding, you are set! Think Katie Perry, some oldies, even once I heard YMCA. But I asked them to turn the poolside music down and they did. Also, Secrets says that tips are included, but it seemed that the staff are working for tips (that really aren't included). So, it's a good idea to bring a bunch of $1 bills to tip the staff. They deserve it!

Impressive hotel
This was my boyfriend's first experience at an all inclusive hotel and he was really impressed. I was very happy that his first experience was so satisfying because he wants to continue to plan trips like this in our future. We met and enjoyed the company of new friends and each couple was just as pleased as we were. The food that was offered at the restaurants was plentiful and tasty. The staff was very pleasant and it was fun to see the same people each day, especially when they recognized us and called us by name. This is my second time in Puerto Vallarta and thought this hotel was closer to the airport and the Marina which pleased me so we were 'home' faster than before. Downtown was safe and fun, especially at Punto Bay. We went on several excursions and may or may not do that again. We really liked our time living at the resort and may focus solely on that the next time. I fully recommend this hotel to everyone!

I would visit more than one restaurant in a night. Get an appetizer at one and have dinner at another. We did this the last night by 'snacking' on sushi and then eating at the French bistro. I wish I had thought of this before!

Great idea, poor execution for an Adults only resort.
The hotel grounds are incredible. The pools are crystal clear, and the staff is at the ready to serve you, at least during the limited times the various parts of the resort are open. The fact that they try to control the guests via what is available is truly frustrating. The pool bars close at 6 pm. The pools, all of them, including the private pools for the swimout master suites we reserved, close at 9 pm. The rest of the bars close at 11 pm, with one club staying open till an astonishing 1 am. For an adults only resort, you are limited to pool access far earlier than even a family friendly holliday inn here in the states. The fact that you have to leave the main pools by 6 if you want service of even water or towels is ridiculous. Also, I have to complain about the "not a timeshare" presentation. They do not just offer you a presentation. They have a personal sales person take you after registration to try and sell you on attending the presentation. I refused every attempt of theirs to get me to go, from bribery to guilt trips, (the sales lady actually told me she only gets paid commission if I go, and her children need it!) Lastly, tipping has become quite expected, despite the all inclusive nature. And by this, I mean tipping at every meal, drink, etc., not merely tipping a lump sum at the end of your stay. So despite being all inclusive, you really need to carry cash on you at all times. Getting change in US dollars is also problematic, so bring plenty of ones, fives and twenties.

Entertainment tip:
Short drive from hotel
If you plan on any nightlife after 11 pm, other than an empty dance club open till 1, you must go downtown. Bring small bills and know your exchange rate. Ideally, pay with a credit card.
