Playa Los Arcos

This is the second time I have been to Playa Los Arcos in seven months, and will be going back in three months. I buy the AI because it is reasonable, I want t, and the food is decent. I have been going to PV for years and am aware of the wonderful food available in various locations. The breakfast at PLA is cooked to order eggs/omelets, waffles, pancakes, beautiful fresh fruit, Mexican chocolate (which I love), and several other dishes. For lunch I do not eat the buffet, but rather have fresh guacamole, quesidillas, nachos or hamburger at the grill area. I find the dinners to be plentiful, varied and above average on the buffet. If one stays a week, you are treated to two menu meals for dinner. Both of my choices were excellent. The location of PLA is superb. Just a few steps from the Malecon, the river, shopping, restaurants, a market place, and a nice expanse of beach either direction you might care to walk. The staff is wonderful, friendly and extremely helpful. The bartenders pour a healthy drink and will pour mas if asked nicely. The rooms/bathrooms are small, furnished with Mexican furniture and extremely clean. I ask for a room on the 3rd or 4th floor as near the beach as possible and have received it for no upgrade cost. The two wings of the hotel are slanted so that many of the rooms, though not facing the bay, still have a decent view. Most of the rooms have balconies, I never ran out of hot water and the air conditioner worked better than the other local hotels where I used to stay. This is a VERY child friendly hotel. My only suggestion would be for them to have an adult only pool area. If you are looking for local culture, warm friendly people, good service and a fantastic location, you would enjoy PLA. It is not a Hilton, Marriott or the Ritz and if that's what you want, don't go there!

Take an insulated cup for your drinks on the beach and you won't have to go back and forth to the bar so often. Beach service is not included in AI, however the bar is convenient to the beach.

Best Location in PV

Although definitely a hotel with 3 star amenities and service, you cannot beat the location right on the beach, the room was cozy with a great view, and the restaurant had fun entertainment to start the evenings off. Also, I was able to figure out which staff members were most helpful and spoke the best English after a day or two. Would def go back for the price!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Avoid the tourist trap restaurants along the ocean front, except for a beer and some chips and salsa. Overall the food and service at these places were inferior and the prices were basically the same as in the US. The smaller local restaurants and vendors on the streets behind the hotel and throughout the city offered much better food at 1/10th the cost.

Just be careful of your surroundings, and that’s any where you are, even in the US. We never had a problem in all the years we been there, but just be safe and don’t drink too much lol

Annual Trip

I have stayed here 3 times now. Love the location, staff, and rooms. Can't go wrong for the price. Have also stayed at Casa Dona Susana whihc is nice too. The rooms are smaller at Casa and no kids running around. Los Arcos is more family oriented. I will definately stay at Los Arcos again & again!

Great Location & Value

We just got back from a 6-day (5 night) trip. We were very pleased with the location and the proximity to the beach. Right in Zona Romantica, it's located close to lots of great restaurants and within walking distance to a lot of bars and shopping areas. Be sure to ask for a beach or semi-beach view for your room - you want to be able to open the windows/doors to get the breeze - the AC is mediocre at best and sounded like a jet engine taking off. The hotel is clean and we were told it's locally owned (haven't confirmed that) but it is Mexican owned. The staff is friendly (Esteban took care of us on the beach!). It is not a super luxury brand hotel but is GREAT for the traveller who isn't planning on doing much more than sleeping and showering in the room. We spoke with lots of people who have been coming to PV for 30+ years and have been staying in this hotel for at least the last 15 of those. One odd thing, we didn't see many locals while in PV (other than staff). At the restaurants and hotels seem to be mostly all American or Canadians on vacation. It would have been fun to see where the locals go for great food. Even the street vendors had a lot of non-natives eating at them. We would definitely stay here on our next trip to PV. Again, the location and being right on the beach are exactly what you want when staying there!

Just one more vacation for the winter!

We have stayed at Los Arco's many times and you could not stay at a better place as far as location and a great time to experience PV old town. The hotel, beach and pool area are clean and the staff is very friendly. You are treated very nice and you feel very safe and comfortable all the time.

You can walk to some great places to dine or take a short cab ride to other great places to eat and watch the sunset. You are right in the middle of old town so you can go every where. The Saturday Farmer's Market is 2 blocks away and it is great.

authentic beachfront getaway

Very cool place. Authentic and very welcoming feeling from the moment we arrived. My spanglish is no bueno. But it did not matter. The staff were so kind to help us learn & they all spoke very good english. Everyone honestly treated us like a king & queen the whole time. Great views no matter where you are..front desk, pools, lounge, dinning area, or directly in front on beach. I would definatley come back again.
