Now Amber Resort & Spa - All Inclusive

The hotel was amazing. The rooms are extreamly large and all had incredible views of the ocean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The dining was very good for an all inclusive and offered a large selection of dining choices. Also the location was good just a short taxie or bus ride to to various attractions. Would stay at Now Amber again.

Went with 6 friends, had a great time! All inclusive was fun. Pool was great. Beach was OK. All in all, great trip.

Just got back from 6 days at Now Amber..... walking in and within 5 minutes we were like WOW this is going to be a great vacation. The lobby area is beautiful overlooking the ocean and then walking into our room we were quite pleased with a modern and comfortable room. By day 2 we weren't so happy. In summary the property is beautiful and well maintained and the staff is very nice and friendly but some little things really bothered us: a) Dress code - I knew we should be prepared but when you are on vacation in stifling 90+ degree heat it would be nice to wear what you want. I got turned back twice for having a tank top though resort had no issues with women wearing them ore even wearing half shirts. The first few nights ZERO of the restaurants allowed shorts. This is a BEACH resort and I know most of the guests felt the same talking to them. On vacation you kind of like to do what you want not what the hotel tells you to do. b) Speaking of telling you what to do - Rooms have no dark curtains. You awake with the light every morning regardless of whether you want to. First hotel that I can remember staying in that had this issue but once again management is deciding for us. c) Staff - like I said very friendly and we enjoyed talking to them but in 6 days there I can count probably 10 times where the wait or hotel staff either completely forgot an order/request or remembered after 20 minutes. A 2 hour dinner was not uncommon though that was not by choice. Also, got woken up by housekeeping a few times even though we had the do not disturb sign on. d) Beach - Very poor. Beautiful but completely rocky and unpleasant. Most of this is not the hotel's fault but this is what you pay for. The rocks even exten to the volleyball court they use where 15-20% of the court is on rocks. Why don't they remove at least from there is beyond me. If you are going for a beach vacation you are likely going to spend more time in the pool. e) Food - Hit or miss - Generally the portions were very small and sometimes we had to order the meal twice to get like 6 shrimp and they served a NY steak to me that was literally like 40% pure fat on the side (cut it off?). Buffet was generally ok for a buffet and we really enjoyed their Asian restaurant which had a Benihana like experience. Overall, this was average at best because the rules and the service brought down the property quality which was above average. Sometimes you need a little more than just a nice place to make it 4-5 star experience!

Very Nice New property in a fairly good location. I was looking forward to my visit as the reviews were fairly good. I can say this is the first review I've given that I would consider as poor. The food in the buffet left allot to be desired. A pan of pasta sitting dried out , meat that was incredibly fatty. Restaurants that were listed to be open and we're not opened. Staff that argued with us (Front Desk). Add on charges that were told to be one amount that I paid and upon check out held hostage to pay more. I have traveled to Puerto Vallarta 11 Times prior to this and stayed at 3 other properties all that were flawless in comparison. I hope this was a one off. Thankfully we know PV well enough and still enjoyed ourselves dinning out off of the property.

Some of the nice things I like were a coffee shop with internet access at no charge! The food was the highest quality of any of the all-inclusive in Puerto Vallarta that I've stayed at before. No wrist bands were required which was nice as well. The only draw back was the spa, they wanted over 100 dollars for a massage when there were at least 5 places to get massages within 3 blocks that charged less than half of that. Overall I really liked it and will go back if there prices stay like they are.

Nice hotel but does not feel new; many items in rooms were broken or not working well. Beds a bit uncomfortable. Service was decent but not great for a hotel at this stated star level. Food better than many all inclusives we tried. Location is mediocre; not much to do around area and cannot walk far on the beach.

Was concerned about what all inclusive meant.. have seen those that provide watered down drinks and cold hotdog... But, not here... the staff was amazing, food was great. Plus, very helpful in getting us out on the town and on tours. Special thanks to Benny, Alex and Cesar... every time they saw us they went the extra mile to make sure we had what we needed. My wife commented on how cool a room with a swim up was.. so they moved us to one! It was awesome.. Will be back!

I was a single traveler spending 9 nights at the Hotel. Upon arrival I was upgraded to the Secrets - the adults only wing. The two hotels share the beach and one can use all the restaurants located at both hotels. I really enjoyed my stay there. Room was fine - only cleaning was rather irregular, and turn-down actually happened twice only. Also they didn't renew the amenities like mending kit and vanity kit - unless you asked, but thats ok. Food was good, service good, too - it was clear the staff at the restaurants was doing their best to provide an excellent service! Was pleasantly surprised by the Mexican restaurant Tamarundo! Didn't expect it to be that good! And the swim-in bars are simply great!!! Was at Manatees, t the secrets side - bartender Efraim was super-friendly and provided great service, and Juan Valdez knew what you wanted to order even before you were saying that! Great service!!!

We stayed for 4 nights/5 days and were blown away. Staff was phenomenal, hotel was gorgeous, and food was excellent. Only issue we had was a little misinformation as to being able to use the pools at secrets (the adults only resort) which we were told we were allowed to use at check in and then were told by security we were not allowed to use. If I was going again with a family I would stay at Now, going again without a family would definitely stay at Secrets. Overall, absolutely phenomenal. Meylin was by far the best bartender!

We loved the view from our hotel room. We were on the 6th floor and overlooked the ocean and the entire pool area of the hotel. We had a beautiful hotel room with a large shower. The hotel staff were very pleasant. We enjoyed the pool activities, i.e. bingo, water aerobics, dance lessons, tequilla pool volleyball, etc. The dance club was nice, but was not very busy. All in all we had a fabulous experience.
