Just expect them to lie because they wil

This was the second time we have stayed at this hotel. One day after leaving the beach we found our room was never cleaned and we had no towels. It was 6:45 and we had 8:15 dinner reservations. Front desk said they would towels up immediately. By 7:30 when we still had no towels we were able to find a maid's cart in the hallway and were able to steal the towels we needed. After complaining later to the concierge, we were given lip service but no resolution. It is unfortunate but we have learned in Mexico that everyone will lie to you and not think twice about it. We just never thought it would happen at a Marriott property. This is a wonderful and beautiful property but it doesn't live up to the standards of a high end Marriott that you would find in the states. All in all it is still a very nice property with good amenities and worthy of a stay.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Don't book a fishing trip during the winter months. The sales people will guarantee you that you will catch fish but when you ask the boat's captain why you aren't catching anything he will tell you that there are no fish in the harbor this time of year. This year we booked a boat excursion and not a fishing trip and since we knew the scam we paid almost half the price we paid last year.

Our Winter Blues Cure

From the start the staff was super friendly and helpful. We got there several hours before check in but they helped with getting bags so we could change into our pool attire right away. The exchange rate from dollars to pesos at the hotel was pretty good too. We made the mistake of exchanging some at the airport and found out the hotel rate was better, oh well you live and learn. The food poolside was amazing. We ate lunch at the pool every day I believe and ordered something different each time and it was all delicious. The drinks were a little overpriced so we tended to keep those to a minimum or brought our own down with us. I am sure that wasn't really allowed but no one ever said anything to us about it so that was cool. The thing we didn't like about the hotel was all the extra fees involved, petty stuff like having to pay $9(US) to be able to use a foam float in the pool for a DAY. The fact that your room came equipped with a mini fridge and it was stocked of course. We didn't want to pay for their beer and water all week so we stocked up on drinks and snacks at WalMart and then got a note telling us we could RENT a mini fridge if we wanted but couldn't take the stuff out of the one that was already in the room!! That kind of nickle and dime stuff really turned us off to spending any more money at the hotel and we ate and drank for the most part in the marina or downtown after that. It is such a nice resort I just think that kind of stuff should be included in your amenities. It just seemed tacky and left a bad impression of Marriot after that I guess. Overall though we had a wonderful vacation and we had a blast with our friends. We went on a couple different excursions that were great fun as well, ATV tour at the Don~a Estancia Hacienda which was beautiful. The countryside was so gorgeous. We did a deep sea fishing all day trip that ended in success with a fresh mahi mahi dinner cooked at Victor's in the marina. My husband and I both had massages at the Ohtli spa in the hotel and it was very relaxing and tranquil, such wonderful smells from the spa too!! We had the breakfast buffet on the last day and that was well worth the $20 (US) it cost. Everyone needs to eat at La Estancia for the breakfast buffet at least once, the lady that makes the omelettes and pancakes/waffles/french toast is THE BOMB!!!! I hope we go back again someday, if not I can be happy with this vacation and take all my wonderful memories with me for many years to come.

the marina has tons of delicious places to eat so don't spend too much at the hotel. Victors is great for breakfast and the Fajita Banana has fajitas that are to die for. Muelle 37 is wonderful food as well but kinda fancy. The Agave Grille downtown was a pleasant surprise, the food was delicious and not at all what we expected.

PV Trip

Great Hotel! The only drawback was the food and drink prices were a little high in the hotel restaurants compared to other places in the area for comparable quality. Although the hotel had a nice selection of places to dine.

Fantastic Vacation

We loved the hotel. We have been there before and we have nothing negative to say. However, we did use your transfers to and from the hotel from the airport. You use Grayline (I don't know if they are the only choice). It costs approximately $4 US dollars to go from the Marriot to the airport for 2 people. We paid $27 US dollars to use Grayline one way. That is highway robery! [...]...DO NOT USE THE TRANSFERS!!! It is very easy to catch a cab at the airport or from the hotel and don't let anyone tell you differently. Other than that the trip was great. Everyone at the hotel went out of their way to be courteous and helpful and very, very nice. The hotel and pool is very beautiful and there are many gourmet restaurant downtown...wonderful food. Remember, NO TRANSFERS!

The perfect couples getaway

The entire time we were there was great! It was the perfect stress reliever. The walks on the beach, lounging by the pool, strolls along the Malecon & the marina, and great atmosphere and a very friendly and accommodating staff. Mainly ate at the hotel, would have like to see more seafood and health conscious items on the menu.

Wonderful Time Had By All

My wife and I had our 50th wedding anniversary at the Marriott and brought all our family, children, and grandchildren, seventeen in all. We had a wonderful time. The weather was great, the pool and beach magnificent, and the anniversary dinner arrangements perfect. We also went to town for one evening and all had a great time together.

Our Stay in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

The hotel and its location is great. It is located in the center of all attractions in Puerto Vallarta and close to Puerto Vallarta's airport. We attended a wedding in Nuevo Vallarta which is north of the hotel in Nuevo Vallarta and in Sayulita further north of the hotel. We rented a car going to Sayulita which is about 1 hr. drive and also rode a taxi going to Nuevo Vallarta which is about 30 minutes drive. It would be great if the hotel can provide transportation within the 1 hour driving distances so guests would feel more comfortable to enjoy their vacation and avoid the hazzle of getting a ride.
