rough start - great finish

We booked a 2 bed ocean view room, first night stay in only available, 1 bed closet, facing south to malecon. Not happy, after returning from dental work next day around noon, we were very pleased with our move, facing ocean, 2 beds with fridge. everything we had hoped for. Incredibly pleasant 2 week stay, wonderful staff, except bar tender not too pleasant when requesting ice for the room. This attitude was consistent throughout our stay. Loved the location and inexpensive food options, including the hotel's restaurant. Would love to stay again sometime.

cheap trip

Really a nice group of people. Great location on Malecon. Rooms facing North side of hotel face really loud music at night til 3am (party lounge i believe) Street traffic is not nearly as bad as the party lounge. Room comfort is not good a small wooden bench was the only seating. The bed in room 304 was like sleeping on a plank. Sheets did not fit the bed,and the pillows were very thin. It was clean and had a nice bathroom plenty of hot water.

Good relaxing vacation

This hotel is an oldie with basic but clean accommodations and a very helpful staff. It's charm lies in the Mexican Colonial Architecture and the retention of the Mexican culture. The lack of a room refrigerator was quite inconvenient and a room coffee maker was greatly add to the enjoyment, i.e. sipping coffee while sitting on the balcony taking in the views

Vacation

The hotel location is great. Right on the Malecon. The beds are too hard for me. We stayed here last year and so this year we brought bed pads with us. This made our stay more comfortable. The rooms are clean, but dated. The staff was friendly and the food was good. A continental breakfast was provided. Ask for your breakfast coupons when you check in. It includes coffee, bread, orange juice and a different fruit daily. For a few pesos, you can upgrade your breakfast. They have a great happy hour. Get a bucket of beer or 2 for 1 drinks. Check the happy hour times when you check in There are two. Turn right when you leave the hotel (toward the ocean) about half way down the sidewalk and you can get a great massage at a great price (get the couples massage). We had 5 or 6 massages. We plan on returning in 2015.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Take a walk down the Malecon and check out the drink prices. Some have $1 beer or $1 regular margarita. Great deal. Most places have good food. A longer walk will take you over a bridge and small creek into Old Town. This walk is probably about 1 mile. Great deals there also.

stopover

Staff were nice and hotel was very clean. Beds were really hard but this seems typical If your on a budget this hotel is fine pool is gated off, kind felt close in. I also did a stopover at Eloisa hotel, good location also a tad nicer not on the beach but preferred location as I was traveling solo.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Hotel is in a great location but no beach to use I recommend if you want a nice day at the beach go to hotel Tropicana cost is 180 pesos to use their pool and beach chairs, but you get this money back in a food and beverage credit hotel I ok for couple days stay. Staff were very nice and accommodating at the Rosita

Comfortable - Good location

Some of the front desk staff are rather unfriendly but the maid service in the room was great. The location is very convenient to the malecon and the sights. We had requested a particular room one month in advance and was told upon arrival that it was not available (I believe it was because we had a promo code and a further discount and they did not want to give us the room for the discounted price). We also were supposed t get a free breakfast with the room price but was told in the morning that would have to pay for anything but coffee, juice and toast.

A week at Rosita

The Hotel Rosita is a small, older hotel at the beginning of the Malecon in Puerto Vallarta, The lobby, restaurant and pool area are charming, typical, older Mexican décor. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I had asked for a room with two beds, oceanview on an upper floor with a refrigerator. I received a corner two room suite with three beds, an almost full size refrig, and a huge balcony overlooking the pool and the bay. The room was basic, but very clean and the bathroom was large compared to the other budget hotels in which I have stayed in PV. A continental breakfast of fruit, toast, orange juice and tea/coffee was included in the room cost. The lunch/dinner food at the hotel was good and reasonably priced. There is a 2 for 1 HH in the late afternoon which is convenient. There is no lockbox in the room, but you can get one at the front desk. I had no problems of any sort while staying at the Rosita and will stay there again soon.

Hotel R is near all the bars/restaurants/clubs on the Malecon...everything is walkable and convenient...there is a grocery, Ley's, nearby to pick up items for the refrig.
