Seven Days in November Part 1 of 2

Would recommend Mon, Nov 30, 2015
A near perfect week in paradise for a 65 year old husband and 61 year old wife. Upon entering the resort, less than ten minutes taxi ride from the airport, gated security checked our name on a list and we proceeded to the front entrance. Impressive landscaping and an open air staircase leads to the front desk. Luggage was taken by the bell staff, smiling and in clean uniforms. Nothing felt rushed, a great way to arrive. We checked in early. Our paperwork was ready, laid out on a large table behind the desk. English was spoken by the entire staff, who were genuinely pleased when talked to in Spanish. Our room was ready. We were given the option to upgrade from our first floor room to the highest, ninth floor. Better view, food and drinks in a lounge, I believe. I said no, and that was just fine. Sophia was waiting to talk to us. Ugh. I expected some sort of timeshare spiel after reading those other reviews, but all she did was explain the services and restaurants in the hotel, and answered any questions. Wow. Four elevators take guests to the nine floors of rooms. There was never more than a minute wait time, usually none at all. I admired my orange wristband, which I would wear for the entire week, identifying me as “casual elegant” guest. That quote is from a sign reminding guests to dry off and cover up in the lobby area. And let me say that I loved the other guests. Mexicans, and many English speaking from USA, Canada and elsewhere. I enjoyed meeting all of them. Babies, teens and all the rest. No yelling, screaming—just everyone having fun. There were three weddings and one meeting taking place during our stay. It never felt crowded. There is one pool and one ocean. Lounge chairs were always available. The room. It was very large, and very silent. I never heard any noise at all. Comfortable beds. All the usual amenities in the bathroom, including large, 4oz tubes of Soma products, and a sewing kit. I actually needed the sewing kit this trip. Air-conditioning worked well. A safe was provided which could hold a laptop computer. I did not bring my MacBook because I was worried about security, but I should have brought it. WiFi was available through the resort, although a bit slow at times. Sorry, I did not check speeds for this review. A mini refrigerator is provided with 4 beers, 6 soda pops, and 2 water bottles. Neat, refilled daily. Just like my home—just kidding. I drank the tap water from the sink. I drink lots of water because I am an exercise fanatic. One day two resident peacocks decided to visit our balcony. Beautiful, but don’t leave the balcony door open. They were looking for snacks. On Sunday the town closes off the center of the main highway for running and bicycling. Great. There is a dirt and paved running path close to the resort packed with locals. Over 100 runners and walkers each morning. I was only able to run five miles daily, mostly due to the heat and humidity. Beach running is a great workout. You can find rock obstacles to climb if you want Spartan training. Swimming laps in the hotel pool is possible, as most guests sit on the side of the pool, drinking. Swimming in the protected area of the beach is possible, too. Bring your goggles. The Fiesta Americana beach is perhaps the best that I have seen. A huge area inside the rope, which designates the Federal, or open beach area, for guests to sit in lounge chairs under palapa umbrellas. And it is here, or poolside, that waiters bring drinks and food to the guests. You can have a continuous supply of beer or mixed drinks. Tecate Light and Indio are the two beers on tap, but there are cans of other favorites such as Corona, Modelo, Pacifico… Pina coladas, margaritas, tequila shots…anything, really, is available. Wonderful Resort with Exceptional Staff!

Would recommend Fri, Nov 13, 2015
I will most definitely return to Fiesta Americana! The resort is the perfect size and not one of those mega resorts where you are just one of two thousand guests. The staff was very attentive, friendly and professional. They truly go out of their way to make you comfortable. The experience top notch. The food was delicious...from the well prepared dinners at the sit down Italian, Asian & Mexican restaurants, to the beach bar/grill with its outstanding fish tacos delivered right to your pool chair along side an icy margarita! I really liked that you didn't have to make a reservation for the sit down restaurants like the mega resorts. When you're on vacation, you just never know when you might want to hang out on the beach just a bit longer watching a beautiful Puerto Vallarata sunset! Who needs to be worried about a dinner reservation! The bars have many top shelf brands if you ask for them. The lobby bar was hopping every night and was a great spot to gather before and/or after dinner. Their Fiesta night was fun! The staff spent hours setting up the beach/poolside tables and made the night special. The rooms were nicely appointed with marble throughout and great views as almost every room faced the beach. The beds were comfy and had plenty of down pillows. I absolutely recommend this wonderful resort. I assure you, you will not be disappointed!! Happy Vacation!

Fun family trip but

Would recommend Fri, Sep 18, 2015
For our kids first time to Mexico this was a decent place and I would do it again because of the price. As a couple, I would NOT recommend it. Our biggest disappointment was the lack of english speaking staff. I realize we are in Mexico and it is a spanish speaking country but as a destination resort for foreigners, you would think they would like to brush up a bit to communicate clearly. We were told no quite often simply because we could not be understood. We were also quoted a particular price by the front desk for a cab ride to the dolphine adventure however it ended up costing more than double the quoted amount. The food was fine, we are very plain simple eaters so we had no issues there except for the fact that I couldn't find anyone who understood what straweberry jelly was. Every morning it was a major task to get strawberry jelly. We also tried to order room service ice cream with chocolate sauce however could not convey that to the spanish speaking employee. I was told we could not get a tray to take food up to our room when I wanted to cater to my family(because she couldn't understand my question) but I just got some plates and did it anyway. One definite positive is that our niece went to another resort with some friends and when they brought her back the front desk would not allow the friend to come on the property until they confirmed that we were ok with it. He wanted to walk her to our room to make sure she arrived safely but because he was not a guest they stopped him until we came to meet them. We appreciated the security. We also could not break large US bills for smaller US bills to tip anyone so we did not tip near as much as we normally would have. Our kids had a great time ordering anything they wanted poolside, they are not used to being waited on like that so Carlos was their hero. Carlos was the best thing about the resort along with the fact that we could reserve a cabana for the entire day for $25.00!!! That was cheap and worth it! They had a little gal at a booth selling clay figures where the kids could paint them and pick up the next day once they were touched up & dry. (She did a fantastic job touching up)The liquor was awful and they ran out of Pacifico a few times. Other times it was warm or you had to go to the bar inside to get it. It also appeared as though there was local housing on the other side of the adjoining fence/wall in which they came to the resort pretty regularly. All in all, I suppose we would do it again because we felt pretty safe and the price was right for a family of 5 and when we have our kids, alcohol & nightlife is not a priority. As adults only, NEVER! Which leads to my recommendation question below...yes if you are with your kids and want a safe place for a good price. No if you want an adult relaxing, service oriented get away.

Well worth the stay

Would recommend Tue, Sep 8, 2015
We travel often and would highly recommend staying here. The staff was off the charts with kindness, the grounds were beautiful, and the food was great .Oh yah, affordable as well. We spent the first half of our trip at a different resort in the marina area and it was in dire need of renovations. BTW, Fiesta Americana was less expensive as well. Win, Win !

OK Family Trip

Would not recommend Sat, Jul 25, 2015
This hotel was ok - the service and staff was great!! Their downfall was that they lacked activities and evening entertainment. Do not get me wrong they were trying but the entire stay was too quiet for us. We sat in the lobby at night bored and were in bed by 10pm because there was no entertainment and with three kids we couldn't just go downtown. Once they get their entertainment going this hotel will be even better.

Memorial Day weekend

Would recommend Sat, Jul 18, 2015
5 night stay was to short! Could have spent a few more days hanging out on the beach in a Cabana only $35 American dollars for all day facing the beach. The outdoors Massage! Wonderful on the Beach a mere $50 American dollars for 1 hour. The rooms were nice and clean thought the balcony would have been a little bigger, but the view was spectacular! I believe all the rooms have a ocean front view. City Tour was included with our package a nice touch. The Rhythm of the nights Show was great and the crew workers on the ship gave a great show also well worth the money, Did the all inclusive it was great with the exception of getting Luke Warm Food. Room Service was great. Wanted to order a bottle of Champagne but it was an extra charge. But on the other side you can order as many glasses as you like no charge so I ordered 4!

New Years at the newly all-inclusive Fiesta Americana

Would recommend Tue, May 26, 2015
My family spent the week between Christmas and New Years at this resort. The hotel had recently changed to an all-inclusive format. For the price, I thought that the experience was great. At the time, the hotel was still working out the details of the change to all-inclusive, particularly with.handling the scheduling at the ala carte restaurants. The best strategy when we were there was to come early enough to be part of the first seating. The staff was very kind and helpful. We didn't receive any of the above and beyond type of treatment that I had read about in some reviews. Perhaps one needs to be a repeat guest so that the staff knows you. The food and drinks were good and the environment at the pool was fun.
