Everyone enjoys the views of Banderas Bay from expansive rooms equipped with balconies and modern furniture.

Twenty-four hour room service sates hunger at any moment, but many guests prefer to try the seven restaurants on site. El Patio restaurant, serving provincial Mexican Pacific fare, delights with picturesque archways that lead to four courtyards. When date night is in order, adults-only restaurant Portofino dishes up Italian cuisine. For those extra-special occasions, guests can request a private table on the beach for an additional charge.

Loved This Place for Years

My husband and I have loved Dreams Puerto Vallarta for many years; we also loved it when it was Camino Real. We have vacationed here at least 8 times. It is romantic "old Mexico", with elegant landscaping, beautiful wood, great food, and perfect service. DPV has the best, most private beach in all of Puerto Vallarta. We appreciate the "no bracelets, no towel cards, and no restaurant reservations" policy. This allows us to feel as if we're really on vacation and not be bothered with petty rules. Beach towels are plentiful all day long. Although the resort seemed to be near capacity, finding good beach seating (under a palapa) was not a problem. We never waited to get a table at any restaurant during our entire stay. This is not to say that there are not problems. The old tower is really showing it's age and needs renovations. The gym had only one usable treadmill 5/7 days of our visit; people were waiting in line to use it. We feel that another significant problem is the pools. The main pool is heated, but was crowded and noisy all day. The adults-only pool is beautiful and quiet, but this is because it was freezing cold during our entire visit. The small pool, close to the old tower, is also cold and has many leaves floating on the water, despite diligent cleaning on the part of the staff. Another annoyance was that wireless is free only for occupants of the Preferred Tower. For those staying in the old tower, wireless is $17/day, or $69/week, which we thought was ridiculous, as free wireless is pretty much an industry standard today. Lastly, and this is not the resort's fault, there seemed to be a large number of children who were completely unsupervised by their parents; they got in the way of waiters, bothered other guests, and were screaming & running in all but Portofino Restaurant (which is adults-only) - our sole sanctuary. We are sorry to have reached the decision that, in the future, we will be vacationing at adults-only resorts.

Great food, great service

Had a great time at Dreams. The food and service was better than I expected. The seafood was top quality. We had a smaller room in the old tower. The room was small, old looking, but clean and well kept. I spoke with other guests and there are nicer rooms available but we didnt spend much time in the room anyway. Too much fun outside!

Mexico Made Easy

Just returned from a trip to Dreams in Puerto Vallarta and, in two words, Muy Bien! The resort was just great - and I'm a tough critic. The property itself is clean, well tended, and spacious enough to give you room and options. The beach is really well kept and almost rock-free - really awesome waves. The restaurants are good - Oceana the best - and buffets always well stocked and fresh. We also went into town a few nights but is not a requirement by any means. The nightly bar scene was lively, but could use more entertainment. Only one night featured a band which made the whole thing better. Rooms were great and the views spectacular. Waves are big, so don't expect too many water activities to be open. And the "fun little walking jungle tour" offered through the activity center...unless you're in good shape and don't mind a few scrapes, it's not a walk in the park! Overall a 9/10 - you never have to leave the property it really is all inclusive. And the staff, a 10/10.

Used to love this place

I used to love this hotel, my family and I have been before. This time it seemed the food was lacking, I understand that because they cook for so many it will lack some flavor, but it used to be better as if they dont care cause they have their 4 diamonds now. I was also a little put off by the "reservation system" for the christmas eve dinner. It was supposed to be first come first serve to the nice out door buffet (food was much better that night) But the reservation was basically you had to buy a bottle of wine to get seated first (its all inclusive, I shouldnt have to buy more, esp if I dont drink wine) ANd I went to rock climb one day and they shut it down 45 minutes early! The guide took down the ropes as we were walking up. And lastly I got hives from the unclean state of the chairs by the beach. THE GOOD: The staff is mostly friendly, the room is super comfy and the view is great, going shopping downtown is funn and affordable.

Dreams is a great place except a few things

We had such an amazing time last year that we decided to come back to Dreams. Some of the reasons we like it is because of the private beach, ocean view rooms, activities, entertainment, AMAZING food, friendly staff, and cleanliness. It was also nice to see about 10 or so other gay couples (both men and women), which made us feel more comfortable than last year when there were only one or two others. This is a great hotel if you are looking to relax and unwind instead of party. The private beach is worth the extra distance. We went into the city this year and the public beaches where all the other hotels were seemed really trashy, literally. People packed in like sardines, garbage everywhere, peddlers galore. Having a private beach without all the rifraff, along with really nice bathrooms close by made all the difference. The only drawbacks we found were as follows: something new they have this year is that you are greated by staff members to get your facility "coupons." They sit you down at a "VIP" desk and then continue to go on a sales pitch. We ran into several other reps during our stay that were really annoying--we thought we could ask them a simple question, but they always went into their sales pitch. Another drawback was the cost of the spa. We got massages last year and don't remember having to pay that much. $135 for a 50 minute massage (of course they give you a $40 coupon, but still). The quality was not any better than what i've received for the standard rates. Lastly, the tequila tasting was great; however, they pitched their top shelf bottle to be on sale for $30--that "it sells for $200 in the U.S." NOT--sells for the same cost in the states. I can see us falling for that in town, but I did not expect to be mislead on the hotel's property where everything is monitored so closely for the visitors. Amazing place, amazing value, and friendly staff, but several things left a bad taste in our mouth so we will probably try somewhere new next year outside of Mexico.

The taxi from Dreams to the airport only cost $15.00US. We went online and reserved Grayline this year and Amstar last year. One cost $65 and the other $112 for 2 people roundtrips. Needless to say we were apalled when we saw that it costs only $15 total one way for 2 people.

Great R&R

This is the second time for me at this property. Great experience overall. Did not opt for the upgrade to the tower. Helpful staff and pretty good food for an all inclusive resort. The only shortcoming is that the main tower rooms badly need to be update.
