Excellent Location

Blue Chairs is well located for the Traveler. It is not a five star resort, but the staff is very friendly and the location is directly on the beach and rooms over look the bay. The rooms are clean and very servicable. I will stay here again

Great Location

Overall I was happy with my stay. The room was clean and has a rustic charm. There was no TV in the room however. The staff was very friendly. I love the location since I could easily walk anywhere in the Romantic Zone.

A good hotel

The staff is very helpful and ready to assist with information or directions to local attractions in the area. With the location of the beach right across the street, and a decent place to dine there as well, and also with a club with entertainment nightly on the rooftop, Blue Chairs is very self contained. You really do not need to go anywhere else. I really can't fault the cleanliness too much, as anytime you have a sandy beach on location, there is going to be sand and grit everywhere from the inside of the elevators to the hallways. My only real complaint is that the hotel does not stock bottled water in its vending machines. The big bottles of water in the hallways appear to be purified, but I saw them filled from a spicket on the side of the building, so don't drink the water is sound advice. It would also be nice if the rooms had an iron and microwave, but none were available. The location is great and overall I recommend this hotel, especially for an unseasoned one like myself, traveling alone to Puerto Villarta for the first time!

Convenient comfortable hotel.

My view room at Blue Chairs had a nice king bed and a great air conditioner. The view was spectacular from the room's balcony. The room was relatively quiet and secure and was cleaned well daily. The room's furniture and amenities were not trendy or new but were maintained well enough and were clean. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The hotels guest policy is a but strict, but useful in maintaining security. I would return to this hotel on a future trip.

Reasonable eats, good food at the beach restaurant. Cheap drinks snacks can be bought at the convenience store in front of the hotel. Happy hour 5-7 at Apache's, 8-10 at La Noche, 10-12 at Paco Paco's.

Good Location

Nice staff and great view; right on the beach. The bed was comfortable and the maid kept the room clean. The sheets were unchanged for the entire seven nights, but the towels were changed daily. I paid extra for a kitchenette but the old gas stove had no knob for the oven. Matches were not provided to light the old gas stove either. There was a tiny saucepan and a small fry pan in the oven. The refrigerator had only one shelf. The kitchen sink leaked and I had to keep the bath mat on the floor in front of it to keep the floor from pooling with water. The sliding glass door did not lock. Everything inside the room is old, chipped, pushed back together crudely, and generally unappealing from a finished and aesthetic point of view. Prices for everything went down about five blocks away from the beach. The weather was beautiful and every day was perfect. The hotel restaurant was good. Anthropology (Club) also has a good show. The hotel is proud of their drag shows.

Money-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

The Supermercado (supermarket), I think the name is Riso is worth the walk. There are taxis all around as well. You should agree on the price for the ride before you get in though. Do all your money exchanging at the bank.

Great Location and price

I had a good time while at this hotel and the location was exceptional. What I did have issues with is I reserved a room with a small kitchette but I didn't get this room. Also, one window did not have a curtain to cover it so I had to use a towel from the room to cover the window. My room wasn't cleaned the first day and a half due to the staff entering me into the wrong room in their computer. This was showing the room I was in as empty and not needing service. Other than these issues, the hotel was great.

Gay Centerville MX

Although the previous reviews were a little confusing. Here is the Feb 2010 review. Fab rooms (marble floors and bathrooms). Cute kitchnette (could have stayed long term in the Junior Suite). Junior Suite is overhanging the beach with your own balcony. If you wish to meet people, this is "the" cental location in front of the "historical" gay "blue chairs" I cased the area and Abbey Hotel ( 2 minutes away) is another social option but Blue Chairs has got the beach in front of it, bar on the roof with shows, and very good food for the lazy traveler. No place is perfect but if wish for activity and don't mind a little noise from that, great first trip pick. All bars are quick walk away. (Don't stay outside of Romantic Zone of Puerto Vallarta). This is the fun, cute, cobble stone road area that is flaming gay.
