Great location, not without problems.

Would not recommend Thu, Dec 17, 2009
Great location, but had many issues... Awaken before 9am daily to the sound of jackhammer and unending construction within the hotel. The door to the room had huge gaps and was not secure. There was no water pressure, shower would just trickle. Just outside the hotel door is a Vacation broker, "Elements tour and Travel" They stole $42.00 from me. [*] Would i stay again, most likely not... Location great, locals not great, they need to get some construction crews that no what they are doing and just be done with there projects.

Blue Chairs Was Just OK for me

Would recommend Sun, Dec 13, 2009
Blue chairs was just "ok" for us. Most of the staff was friendly (except for daytime front desk). But overall most helpful. We had ocean front room, king size and the view was really nice. The balcony door didnt close and didnt lock. they were rather quick to put a lock on the balcony door once that I insisted. The entertainment provided by the hotel was good but a little more variation would be nice. The shows are different but by the same people. The shows were good and fun but seemed repeatetive. Dont eat at the blue chairs restaurant. Not a good experience for breakfast for me. Couldnt even think of trying any other meals there after that breakfast.

Dining

Youve got to go eat at Mauricio's at calle pulpito #127. great food great price. go hungry. Also, if youve never been to PV before, just take a taxi when you get out to the street its cheaper by cab than by purchasing shuttle service in the travel package. Next....Ignore all the people in the airport. they all want to sell time shares. I almost missed my shuttle because of them.

Unbeatable Location

Would recommend Mon, Nov 30, 2009
We spent a great deal of time walking the area and the staff at the hotel were so helpful in key places and restaurants to visit. We really enjoyed our stay. Not to mention the beach is at your front door with lunch and drinks on the beach.

Attractions

Everything was within walking distance and if you needed a cab the hotel was more than willing to help. I recommend asking the staff where they like to eat and places they visit.

there were banging noises early in the morning..no consideration for the guests and if you're on the top floors the music can be too loud at night

blue chairs beach resort

Would not recommend Tue, Nov 10, 2009
The hotel shut the water off every night and you had to call the front desk in the morning to have it reset. We were unable to flush the toilet or shower each morning. On the bright side the staff was extremely friendly. We weren't offered any type of discount for our inconvenience though. Upon checkin we were also told that what we paid through [...] didn't cover our room and we would have to pay an extra $112.00.Also the staff couldn't find a key to our room and when they did there was only one. Every day we had to leave it at the front desk so the maid could clean the room.

Good value for beach front

Would not recommend Sun, Nov 1, 2009
Nice newly remodeled room with lots of marble, good bed, great panoramic bay view from oceanfront balcony. Beach bar palapas are across the street but overpriced compared with other parts of beach. The neighborhood is quiet at night (except for pounding ocean waves) but it's at the far southern edge of the romantic zone meaning walking up and down hills on uneven cobblestones streets and what pass for sidewalks or taking taxis as bars/restaurants are mostly about 10 blocks away or farther. Would have liked a room safe, especially when patio door lock was broken and never repaired during our four night visit. There is a lobby safe for passports. I would fear bringing a laptop even though the hotel has free Wi-Fi. One guest on my floor had his room burglarized and lost the many American dollars he had foolishly stashed there. I used BanaNorte near the plaza on Oltas Alta Street and got the best exchange rate there. My first trip back to Puerto Vallarta since 1972 when it was 1/20 of its size now. Still, the old town is authentic Mexico but I felt most safe with many police on the beat. For the rest of the sprawling development, one might as well stay in the US in Miami Beach. So-so food in and around my hotel but had great thin-crust pizza at La Piazzetta and good Austrian food at Kaiser Maximillians on Olas Altas Street. But mostly ate around Boardwalk/Malecon and Playa Los Muertos at Beach House, El Dorado, La Palapa (latter where Mexico's President Calderon dined while I was there complete with fireworks and plenty of security) and have no complaints about food/drink quality and value.

Attractions

Took the party boat Cielto Lindo from the marina to Las Animas with snorkeling around Los Arcos. It's a great value with its open bar if one likes to drink. The Los Veranos canopy zip lines were a real adrenalin rush with a very professional staff to make them safe. Booked both through Gray Line. Watch out for the timeshare "discounts" starting at the airport exit and everywhere else getting one roped into a lengthy "hotbox" sales "visit" to a hotel/condo project. They are very aggressive.

Amazing Location For The Money

Would recommend Tue, Sep 15, 2009
I read all the comments before we booked and was cautiously optimistic - what a surprise - this place was AMAZING. I guess others were expecting the Four Seasons or something for this price. Location is the best you could imagine. Right after we got there, we met some VERY friendly locals from Guadalajara who showed us around the area - there's so much here. The restaurant at Blue Chairs is SO good for the price! Eat breakfast there everyday. For something a little more gourmet, go about 4 properties down and eat at El Dorado (right on the beach.) Food is amazing.

Attractions

I highly reccomend Vallarta Tours. If you want an adventure tour, Vallarta Tours is the biggest in Central America.

Unfriendly staff during construction

Would not recommend Mon, Aug 10, 2009
This was meant to be a relaxing vacation for me and my partner. What it turned into was constant noise, and rude and untrained staff. We knew going in that Puerto Vallarta in August had its limitations, due to some businesses closed and high humidity, but what we did not expect was to be staying in a hotel with constant hammering, tile saws, and jackhammers, sometimes until 9pm at night, and starting as early as 8am. The staff was also less helpful and never apologetic about any of the inconveniences that this offered. After 3 days of hell, Orbitz was kind enough to help us move our stay to another gay location. It is unfortunate because maybe we would have returned someday to the beachside resort, but we will never return to them at all.

Nightlife hint

Nightlife starts late, so if you want to have some fun at nightclubs, pace yourself with an afternoon siesta.
