Perfect location
The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. The restaurant even made us a special Veggie Sandwich which wasn't on the menu. The highlight of this hotel is their nightly GoGo Boys. What a show they put on! Perfect for gay travelers who want to be on the beach, hanging around with hundreds of other gay men.

Perfectly Passable
Blue Chairs is a great party hotel. It's at the epicenter of gay PVR and accomplishes what it means to very well. The rooms, albeit small, are clean and the maid does a good job. There is no in room safe (it's in the lobby) and hot water takes awhile to get going. Honestly though, if you're a young, gay guy looking for a fun time and you are looking for cheap accomodation this is a good spot. The one real downside is that happy hour is on the rooftop between 5 and 8 or so and it's loud, hard to get rest before you go out at night. There are much nicer accomodations in the area, but if you want to literally walk out of the hotel and be right on the gay beach, stay here.

Great beach location
Very friendly and helpful staff. Location makes it easy to walk to shops, bars, and restaurants and cheap taxi service is readily availble when walking is not an option. Wonderful, active beach right across the street from the hotel. Fun shows on the roof nightly. Housekeeping can be hit or miss but staff is anxious to correct any mistakes (e.g., no coffee, missing washcloths, etc.) All in all you can have a great time here, whether single or a couple.

Close to the beach and nice staff
Overall, it was a great stay. Our room was ready at check-in. Our room was recently remodeled and had nice marble floors. It also had a private balcony with bay views. We spent most days at the beach, a short walk from the Hotel. In the evenings, we walked to dinner in the old town. This was very similar to another vacation we spent in Puerto Vallarta in 2009.

Nice but Noisy
Noisy all day from 5pm to 11pm. Because of Events on Rooftop. Local guests are asked to pay a 200peso fee just to come up to the room. Rooms are nice and room service is good.

Friendly atmosphere, some problems
Well this is old town Mexico afterall, so was not expecting 4 star amenities. Called in advance to confirm room type and location and they said all was OK. When we arrived we were given a partially remodeled smallest room with no water pressure at all and entry door faced disco entry stairs. (We booked the more expensive large suite and confirmed with phone calls twice.) They did move us on day two, but would not offer a refund only credit for breakfast. Was happy with the 2nd junior suite (excellent view and remodeled and water pressure). The staff was really nice except service on beach could be challenging and slow. Wifi does not work consistently so don't count on it. No water at all for one afternoon and upper floors seem to have no water pressure. Loud party bar upstairs could be a plus or a minus depending on what you are looking for. Would change to a recommend if problems are fixed.

pros and cons
pros: across the street from the gay beach (chairs & umbrellas are free to anyone making purchases from the beachclub cafe though); gay and/or gay friendly staff; short walk to most things gay - though many hotels are closer to all but the beach. clean room, bottled water in the hall, beachclub cafe and rooftop bar charges could be signed to room, free beach towel service, atm in lobby, flat screen tv, nice bed/bedding, free wireless in room. [...], the concierge is EXCELLENT! cons: literally a jackhammer on the roof many days during my visit with dangerous debris falling onto terrace and hotel entrance. paid extra for a beachfront room and got a view of the tarped over roof of the bar across the street with a few inches of ocean above it. elevator in/out of service all week. very low water pressure. a guest and i were VERY embarassed and surprised to be forced to sign-in, leave ID and pay 200 pesos 'security' process for visitors to rooms - though the general public had easy access to all floors en route to and from the rooftop bar 3p-10:30p daily. some other gay and non-gay hotels had a sign-in process but not the fee.

For Party Boys Only!!
The hotel is right on the beach and is very convenient to town (although be prepared to walk up and down some very steep streets). The staff could not have been friendlier and more helpful. The rooms are decent - My biggest complaint was with the shower: it took at least 30 minutes to get hot (no exaggeration) and there was absolutely no water pressure - It was easier to bathe in the sink. This is not a hotel if you are looking for peace and quiet - It is a gay resort which means LOUD disco music all day and night (until at least 11:00-11:30PM) - The walls do not block out any sound.

In-expensive get-away
The hotel staff seemed friendly and helpful. Just not crazy about the town of Puerta Vallarta. Nice rooms, a little on the 'cold' (decorating wise) side. The CONSTANT annoying people that come up to you on the beach really detracts from the otherwise enjoyable beach experience. The hotel is truly right on the beach. I think I would have rather have stayed in a nicer hotel and just walked to the beach though. There are a lot of nicer destinations I would rather go to. I certainlly would not return to Puerta Vallarta.
