Barcelo Puerto Vallarta - All Inclusive

My wife and I had a wonderful time at Bacelos. It was a great experience for both of us. The resort was very impressive! We enjoyed everything about our 6 day visit. My wife enjoyed a massage on the balcony in our room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pools were awesome! We went Zip lining and had a blast. We hope to go again next year.

We stayed at Barcelo from 2/28 until 3/4 - too short of a trip! I'd definitely recommend PV and staying at The Barcelo. The guests were a mix of Americans, Canadians, Australians, and Mexicans (from other parts of Mexico, of course). Lots of older couples, families, and younger couples. We're 25 & 28. A good variety of people. We had the "premium" package and stayed on the top floor facing the ocean. The room was beautiful, but nothing could match the views! Absolutely outstanding. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. For an all inclusive (I've been elsewhere in Mexico, The Bahamas, and Jamaica) the food was really great! Lots of variety! In terms of drinks, lots of choices there as well and always easy to grab a drink. The beach is a little short and the sand is a bit coarse, so if you're looking for absolutely clear water and miles and miles of smooth white sand, this isn't the place for you - but it was absolutely gorgeous and perfect for us. We really enjoyed it. The only downside I'd say to this resort is the location. The location itself is beautiful and breathtaking, but it's about 20-30 minute ($10-$15) ride into town. If you plan to stay the resort a lot than that's no big deal at all, but we left the resort almost everyday to go into town (the boardwalk considered the "downtown" with lots of shopping, bars, and restaurants), it can add up $$ & takes a bit of time -- but the views while driving are amazing as well. You can take public transportation, but it was a bit confusing for us -- especially if you're not fluent in Spanish. Definitely a great place.

We did not get sick unlike most guests. Expect bug bites on the beach [ although it's so tiny there is no reason to go there]. Expect bites in your room and maybe termites living in your dresser like we had. Elevator issues, service missteps, lame poolside activities if any, hot coffee but no hot food, beautiful landscape, full facilities, friendly staff, bird droppings decorate everywhere and seem to be protected from removal. We requested no special service so cannot comment. We did meet prople who love this place. Read the reviews, they all seem accurate, but expect sub-standard cleaning and slightly below average food and service with typical disappointments that are common at many resorts. There are things to like about this place,but for us tne negatives outweigh the positives

This was our 5th trip to the "Barcelo" .My wife and I had another wonderful time. The staff in all aspects is outstanding. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. The Barcelo upgraded our pacakge at no cost to Master suite. We enjoy the seclusion of the Barcelo but also enjoy the beach around the Barcelo. On this trip numerous persons were sick with a virus. we were not affected with this virus. We are full supporters of the Barcelo and recommend this hotel. Again we had a great and relaxing time in Puerto Vallarta at the Barcelo.

we had a very great stay the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome very friendly and helpful. resort is clean and the grounds are very nice and cleaned daily. the food at the buffet was a little bland to my taste but all in all we really liked the resort. thank you to all

The location is beautiful but the beach is poor. The pools made up for the lack of good sand on the beach. But the worst part was that we arrived on Saturday and by early Monday morning we were sick. In fact, about half of the resort was ill with diarrhea and vomiting.I ate hardly anything for 3 days as I couldn't keep anything down. I was very careful the first night as to what I ate, especially no tap water or seafood. Some of us ate the same thing, some got sick and some didn't . Something has to be done about this problem. It is going to be a very long time before I return to Mexico. The food on the buffet got to be repetitive and the specialty restaurants weren't all that great. We anticipated going on this trip for a long time and it was a great disappointment.

We absolutely love this hotel....from the location, to the amenities, to the staff. This is our 4th year there, and we simply loved it. Very relaxing.

2nd time about the same as the first. Nice well taken care of property 30 min out of town which is great. Still not much for fun during the day or night at the resort and restaurant choices are limited. No sickness w/o 1/7/13, watch where you go and what you eat and touch elsewhere. Nice laid back resort.

In 10 years we have visited 7 times. We just love the resort, because of the setting. The wait staff are so friendly and the gentleman in charge of food service/restaurant approached us and made us feel like anything we needed we could ask. We decided to add extra time to our vacation and paid the stated charges immediately. Then the funniest thing the hotel lobby staff asked us to help them out and pay the difference between the stated charges and new rates (from corporate?) we were perplexed. Wait we reserved more time in a room agreed to the rate and the rate changed and this hotel wants more money. We stated that our purchase was our contract with the hotel and we would not pay more. Now the first check out date comes and we are notified of services to help with check out. We return to the hotel lobby and state we have paid for a longer stay and asked them to update their records. We were a little baffled at the barriers to our repeat visit especially when adding to our stay.

Went back--this time with friends (a former boss and his wife).. They loved it--and said they can't wait to go back--next time with their 20 year-old and 22 year old sons. They kept remarking how they couldn't believe the value you get for your money here. P.S. The couple saying this have been all over the world on vacation, and have lived in Dubai, San Francisco, Boston, Los Angeles, and India. They took 2 of the zip line and hiking and boating tours--and loved them both. Visited the local tequila distillery and took 4 bottles home.
