My review of Viva Wyndham Maya - All Inclusive
The Wyndham Maya was a very pleasant hotel to stay at. The staff was very friendly. However, to my surprise, the front desk staff did not seem as friendly as the rest of the hotel staff. Very rigid and they did not show a great deal of enthusiasm. It almost felt as if we were bothering them when I had a question to ask in person. Other than that, I will refer friends and family to this hotel and I already am planning my next year's trip to the same hotel. Hopefully the front desk staff can step it up a couple of notches.

Room Comfort
It would have been nice to have a place to sit other than on the bed. The room did not have any chairs for sitting. There were no luggage racks so the suitcases had to be on the floor. Then you are 75, it's hard to lean over to get clothes out of the suitcase when they are on the floor. We were a party of 5 and had reserved two rooms. Our rooms were at opposite ends of the hotel compound which was an inconvenience.

Great place, great value !
This resort was a excellent choice . The rooms are nice, clean and provide everything you possibily need - as a safe , refrigerator, air dryer , coffee maker, tv , balcony - the place is beatiful ,well kept , pool is great and so is the beach ! Everybody working for the hotel , has been nice and helpful , the entertairment is fun ! They also help you book your visit to any of the parks or attractions in the area without charging you extra money. Across the hotel entrance there is a very nice shopping center where you can buy whatever you need - dollars are as good as pesos -and Playa del Carmen is a very short ride away - about $5 for a taxi always available ! If you bring a calling card , you could use a public phone close to the lobby. I would racommend this resort to anyone !

Great Value for the money
Hotel had a nice atmoshpere. The entertainment staff was great. Very interactive and energetic.Pool was awesome as well as the reservation resturaunts. Lots of beautiful lush and layered landscaping. The beds were very hard, almost no space to put clothes, and I did not like how some guests mini fridges were stocked and got bathrobes while others didnt. My only major complaint would be how very very slippery the entire resort was. You had to be very carefull not to fall especially after drinking all day.

Great Activities
There are so many great activities here; my days were full. In one day I did archery, took a Merengue class, tried parasailing and learned how to sail a catamaran. The next day I had a massage on the beach after my wind surfing lesson! The other thing I loved about this hotel was the wonderful restaurants I went to... Don Diego was my favorite!

Very good for the price
This hotel was more than I expected, of course is an all inclusive and all are very much alike. The food at the buffet was practically the same everyday and that was very boring, but for dinner you have options: the hotel has three restaurants for dinner (besides the buffet), but for any of these you have to make reservations. We reserved at Hacienda Don Diego, the Mexican Restaurant, and let me tell you the food was really good, I was amazed to think it was included in the price, theses three restaurants are part of the all inclusive... The pool is okay, the think I didn't like is that the staff used to play or have activities at the pool and used all the space. They have the relax pool, which looks a lot quieter and not so crowded... The beach: I did not like it, they have some bags or something to catch the sand or something like that, the fact is you can't dive in. The rooms are ok, but we had problems with the phone and it took them two days to fix it. Another good thing at this hotel is you have the option to make a late check out (at 5:00 PM) paying just $25.00 Last recommendation: don't stop by the welcome desk, they just want to offer you a kind of time share.

Excellent location
Just a 30 minute walk south of the town of Playa del Carmen, in a gated/guarded community called Playacar, this hotel could not have been in a safer, more beautiful area.

Nice get away, but lacks delicious food that playa is known for
The hotel has a very friendly atmosphere. Although the hurricane took away part of the beach, they are working to restore it. I spent the majority of my time at the beach during the day where we were sometimes awoken by personnel yelling in an attempt to attract people to activiities by the pool. I could have done without this. We did not eat in the dinning room most evenings because the selection of food was not very good for those who try to maintain a healthy diet. In fact, the selection of nourishing foods was pretty slim. This is a great value for hamburger/pizza loving folks. Despite the less than impressive food, the service was great and we enjoyed ourselves immensely.

Long walk from hotel
About 2 kilometers away there is a shoppping mall where you can find everything you could possibly want. In addition, there is a great Cuban restaurant... La Bodeguita del Medio. the food is amazing, the staff is incredible, and they have a live band every night except Monday. It's definitely worth the walk or the 5 dollar cab ride.

A very nice hotel
We're a senior couple, liked the place a lot. Great helpful staff. Comfortable room tho a bit spare. Lots of activities for those so inclined. Playa del Carmen is 20 minutes away on foot, 8-minutes away by bikes, which the hotel supplies. There are two pools, one in rear which is less crowded. We prefer to swim in ocean. The hotel's beach front is badly eroded, but you can go next door in either direction for easier entry to the sea. We loved the food in the buffet , which had a great variety, and stuck to that for all meals. Nice bar with variety of free booze. hotel staff provided entertainment at night. A very pleasant experience. Lots of Germnans, Canadians, and a sprinkilinfg of other Europeans, as well as many Americans.
