Ideal spot for a girls weekend

The Tides is in a word, perfect. The staff is attentive, kind and english-speaking. The grounds are well maintained and the hotel layout unique. The spa is an oasis of serenity. The food is delicious (a bit pricey). And, the margaritas are served on the rocks with the finest tequila. Seven girls celebrating their 40th birthdays enjoyed every minute of their vacation at the Tides without a single complaint. It was sheer bliss.

Greta Place

Breakfast was amazing, staff was excellent. Dinner service was a bit slow, but while one is lounging around it is not that important. We took a car into town 2 nights for dinner and found the food to be excellent. Omar made excellent suggestions. The room was very private, outside shower was great. Plunge pool a nice touch. The place is perfect for rest and relaxation.

Loved It!!!

My stay at the Viceroy Riviera Maya was fabulous, absolutely fabulous. The grounds are so beautiful to walk..to walk through the nature trails that are beautifully manicured with peaceful sitting places along the way. There is even one sitting place near the water falls. The spa is absolutely gorgeous. And, the messages are out of this world. I had an outdoor message. The pool, beach, and the food/drink service are all outstanding. Now, for the villa. I absolutely love, love the villa. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding. The layout is outstanding. The amenities, including the linen are outstanding. I relaxed in my villa pool, slept in my hammock, and showered in my outdoor shower! Oh! And, my yoga classes with Sam were also outstanding. The staff are very attentive and very pleasant. This place is now top on my list of best getaway places. It is very peaceful and safe. I will be there again, next year. PS---I went alone, a single woman.

Jungle paradise

We had an amazing stay at Viceroy Mayan Riviera. The setting is exceptionally beautiful, with the perfect mix of nature and serenity. The staff is great and aim to please from the top down and everyone has a genuine smile. The food and drinks are excellent, but a bit (perhaps 10%) overpriced given the hefty 16% tax levied by the government on most if not every purchase. As for the rooms, the best value is clearly the 'base' Luxury Villas, at least some of which have a soothing waterfall attached to the plunge pool. They're ample sized for 2 people, very clean and modern enough. We purchased the Royal Villa upgrade, which I don't see as much of an upgrade (have a larger outside space with 2 chaise lounges but no waterfall) and in retrospect wish we stuck with the Luxury Villa. Our Royal Villa was too noisy due to it's proximity to the kitchen, and the manager graciously upgraded us to the Premium Villa, which is a very solid upgrade, having a larger, more updated bathroom including a tub (Luxury and Royal have showers--both indoor and outdoor but no tub), walk-In closet, an enclosed toilet (I.e. 'water-closet') plus slightly nicer furniture and accessories. If money's no object, I would go Premium. The spa is FANTASTIC: we had a couples massage under a palapa outside right next to a waterfall--incredible!! The menthol steam room (I think it was menthol) was very hot and super relaxing, as was the overall ambience of the spa itself. Took a yoga class on the pier, which was an amazing setting and the teacher was great; price was steep at $33/class; think $25 is reasonable, but also could be a nice free, value-added feature. Overall our stay was AMAZING and would definitely go back. If given the option by Cheap Tickets, I would give it a 4 1/2 star rating; hotter showers (they were warm but not hot) and slightly lower-priced food/beverage/yoga (I.e. better value) would elevate it to 5 stars, without a doubt.

Phenomenal Service, Setting, and Food

Peaceful, luxurious in a jungle boutique sort of way. Attention to detail in the design and every little touch is spot on for what this resort wants to be. The service is impeccable. The setting is exquisite. The food is outstanding. Great massages, food, reading, and relaxing. Thanks to [...] and the many others who made our stay great!

Tides delivers on expectations and more

Tides is a small boutique hotel and spa on the Riviera Maya but apart from the crush of other tourists. Setting in coastal forest on the beach and low number of very tasteful villas makes for personal space, calm and quiet. Staff is top shelf, knowing exactly where the line is between being attentive and being invasive... and really will follow through on your special requests, whether these be for a special meal or arranging an outing. The hotel spa is also excellent and comparable in quality of service to high end in the USA. Very highly recommended!!

Good for romantic couples

Lovely welcoming staff and friendly service. Secluded location was very peaceful with a 15 min cab ride into Playa for about $15 american dollars. This is great if you want to get away from it all and just lie on the beach. We went to Playa every day so hired a vespa to get in and out.

Wow...Just Go!

If you want luxury, pampering and peace go here. The resort looks better in person than it does on the site. The rooms are amazing. Take the outdoor shower... you will never want to shower indoors again. Don't go to the tides if you are worried about every dollar you will spend. But compaired to the all inclusives it is almost the same cost...unless you drink all day long.
