Bottom line...Great Resort!
VIM is a great resort with a great staff and unbelievable restaurants. The resort...very large due to the amount of trees and greenery they maintain. It can be somewhat of a walk if your room is located in bldgs 11-14. The resort does contain wildlife that does not bother the guests and makes for a very surreal atmosphere. The food..the restaurants really surprised us. There is no dinner buffet, therefore, guests are forced to go to a restaurant on the grounds. Seven restaurants are on the grounds and one is better than the other. Great food overall!!! The pool...kind of cold and can be somewhat loud, but that's expected. Two swim up bars and plenty of room to lay out. The beach...no rocks and clear water. What more can you ask for? Enough huts for everyone and spaced out just enough for privacy. We try to go to different resorts every time, however, the VIM is one that we would definitely go back to.

From the time we arrived until we left, we were made to feel at home and pampered. Can't imagine wanting anything nicer. The rooms (Golden Suite) were fantastic. The staff did everything to make our stay comfortable. Thought the food was very good. This was our first AI vacation and was a little worried about the food. I'm pretty picky but my wife likes everything. We tried all the restaurants and I was able to order something I liked at every one. Especially loved the Hibachi at Gingers. Ricardo is really good and very funny. Had a great time.

This is a big complex. Get the map and do some walking to find your way around. Need the exercise to keep the weight down after all the good eating.

Fantastic couple getaway
This is the second time I've stayed at the resort, and, as the first, it was an unbelievable experience. The only problem is booking the room - we requested a king size bed and were given a room with two doubles. The resort made the appropriate accomodations though and found us a king size room the second day of the trip. The food and service is excellent.

relaxing vacation
Nice resort very clean, beach has warm turquoise water. The entertainment is poor, and it should be at a later time and not at 8pm when some folks are still at dinner. Disco night every night is outside and loud, not enough seating. If your trying to go to bed before disco night is over which starts at 11pm then you wont be able to sleep. Another annoying thing was the fact that you couldn't walk on the beach at night, my husband and I wanted to go to the beach after dinner and the security guards told us we couldn't. The food was good, but the desert had a small selection. The cappuccino is very good, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Scuba diving is nice, they take you to two dive spots, which was very interesting. The landscaping staff will cut down a coconut for you for a small tip, which is very refreshing. If you are planning to visit the Tulum ruins, I suggest to rent a car which is cheaper, and more relaxing then taking the tour bus. It is also pretty safe. All in all, this was a nice resort, but if you want to be entertained, impressed and dined then go to Barcelo Bavaro Palace deluxe in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic definitely make this your next vacation.

Nice resort, rooms are very nice. Resort itself a little too spread out for us. It is a pretty far walk to get to any activity from your room. Food is ok, it is unfortunate that the guys have to wear pants at all but one restaurant for dinner. Was refused at a restaurant with dress shorts on but a gentlemen in jeans and a t-shirt was admitted. Night time activities were limited. You are in the tropics, why can't I wear nice shorts at a very casual restaurant. At the nicer restaurant I can understand, but...

Disappointed
My wife and I checked in on 11/15. The welcoming staff was friendly and courteous. We were told that we would be able to upgrade our room but no upgrades were available at that time. Our room was a bit of a disappointment. Although beautifully furnished it was on the ground floor with no particularly nice view, furthermore, the room had a distinctive, strong odor of disinfectant. We left the room at 8:00 the following morning returning at 4:00 to find the room was not serviced and water all over the bathroom floor. At that time we decided to check out and find another hotel. I will be contacting you today to discuss a partial refund
