FABULOUS! FABULOUS!!
This was a perfect getaway! Direct flight from New York-- we were on the beach in under 4 hours! Intercontinental staff is very accommodating and service was great. We spent our whole time on the beach, though the pool was beautiful. Many staff to bring your heart's desire to your lounge chair. Great beach for walking, water was a perfect temp and lots of waves to body surf. We took the bus, right outside the hotel, to Playa del Carmen! Ate at a fabulous bistro. We also elected the katamaran snorkling trip one day which was terrific. We are in love... and now thinking where to go next???

good and bad
Stayed at Sandos Caracol July 4-July14th/2011. We were given a room in building 41 on the third floor. Room was in poor condition, there were water stains on the sealing and walls, same in the bathroom. Water dripping into room and bathroom when it rained. Poor and Old furniture, foul smell in the room, moldy and musty. Bugs in the room, filled with mosquitoes. When asked to change the room, " nothing is available, all rooms are booked" They do put you on the waiting list. Resort itself: Spray yourself from head to toe, cause it is filled with mosquitoes. Make sure not to get sick, cause it will cost you $120 just to see a doctor, and then you will be referred to outside pharmacy to purchase medications. Resort itself is ok, nothing special. Nothing is "ECO" about this place, few birds, donkeys, parrots all I have seen. Food was good, friendly staff, beach is nice. Great place for kids given water park, and kids club. I would not come back to this resort.

WONDERFUL TIME

Select package option is a Joke
I paid a Royal Penthouse suite and the select package. They promised premium drinks and they sent me by email a list of 12 years scotches. When I arrived they NEVER had premium scotches in the select bars… NEVER… had they always said that they just served the last drink and they will bring a new bottle in 5 minutes. The bottle never arrived in the 8 days I stayed in the Resort. I arrived on Saturday and when I tried to make reservations for dinner in the restaurants they told me that everything was full and there were not openings until the next Sunday!!!! One week!!! I had to complain and they allow me to have a dinner in only one. I had one of the most expensive packages and never received a select treatment. I have visited Cancun every summer for the last five years and I was NEVER mistreated or felt disappointed with any of the Resorts I have visited. In fact this is the first time I write a review to help other people to be aware of this place.

Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa
The resort has so many ammenities and interesting things to do. Restaurants with amazing food, bars, beautiful beach, pool, shows, animals, stores, spa, etc. Employees are friendly and attentive. They treated us great. The resort was 10 minutes away from the city and major tourist attractions. We enjoyed this trip very much and we look forward to coming back to this same place.

PERFECT FOR KIDS
THE HOTEL WAS KID FRIENDLY, JUST AS THE REVIEWS THAT I READ SAID. THIS IS NOT A HOTEL FOR COUPLES. THE SELECT CLUB IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY. THE HOTEL DOESN'T REALLY MAKE A BIG DEAL THAT YOU ARE SELECT. THE BARS ARE GREAT. THE POOL WAS PERFECT FOR US. THE BEACH WAS WHITE AND THE WAVES WERE SMALL. THE HOTEL NEVER TOLD US ABOUT BOOKING THE DINNER RESERVATIONS AT THE SAME TIME. I WOULD GO AHEAD OR YOU WANT GET ONE. THE HOTEL IN ALL WAS GREAT BUT THE FRONT DESK HELP WAS AVERAGE.I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH HOW CLEAN THE HOTEL WAS KEEP. YOU ALSO BE A GOOD IDEA TOO LEARN SIMPLE SPANISH WORDS AND PHRASES.

Young Professional in need of a Vacation
Fantastic Deal. Fantastic.
Since we went in the rainy season, we were prepared for the scattered storms. Our room was beautiful and well stocked with complimentary drinks. We took full advantage of the bars and restaurants at the resort, which all produced great food and drinks. There was entertainment every night, but we didn't really do much more than pass by on our way to dinner or other activities. The service was excellent, the staff was very helpful, and this was by far the best value I've come across for this time of year. The only complaint we have is that, during periods of heavy rain, some water would come into the room under the door. However, it was nothing that a few towels couldn't fix!

Regardless of the weather, take advantage of the zip-lining/snorkeling/repelling activities that are offered by the agents at the hotel. It was pouring the day that we went, and it was one of the best experiences I've had.

Best Hotel for kids
Best Hotel to travel with kids , 9 years and under. They have lots of activities for kids. I think it's worth it the select club. We travel with my 3 year old and we had lots of fun . Not for couples or just adults , there are kids everywhere. food is good , rooms ok . select club worked for us.
