RIU palace

The resort was very nice, I am not sure if it is worth the extra to stay at the palace. I also was dissappointed in the beach as there were large sandbags, like beached whales, in the water to prevent further beach erosion. Food in the buffets was excelent. There were not many college spring breakers there also, this was a bonus to me.

Great getaway

This is a great resort...the service was excellent and the food was very good. The hotel lobby was gorgeous and the rooms were quite nice. My only complaint was the bed...it was way to hard.

Very Relaxing

My wife and I vacationed here for five days and is was fantastic. Rooms and hotel was very clean. Food was good. Beach was nice and the staff was very helpful. I would definetly recommend this hotel. There were the occasional beach salesmen but they left you alone after first estate.

Excellent Get-Away

The Riu Palace Riviera Maya was all about service! The staff was the was only too eager to help in any way. The rooms are all suites and very comfortable. All inclusive meals were excellent. Options to use the facilities at the other Riu Hotels in Riviera Maya were also given to guests. Men, don't expect to be able to have your evening meal in your golf shorts, you are expected to wear long pants. You will be going to bed hungry if you are not.

Beautiful and very comfortable!

We loved staying at this all inclusive hotel. Everyone was very friendly and went out of your way to please you. We had never been at a more beautiful hotel. The weather was great, the food was delicious, the people friendly, and the price was right. We would recommend this hotel for honeymooners, families with children, and just anyone who wants to get away and relax and have fun!

Great for relaxation

The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The beach is right by the hotel. And it is very clean. If I have to say something bad about this hotel, then I have to say the food is a little disappointed. I stayed in this hotel for 5 days, the lunch has almost the same kind of food everyday. The food in the Japanese restaurant only look like Japanese food. The Mexican and Brazilian restaurants are just OK. The Sir Olivier is pretty good. However, the oven was broken on the night we were there. Therefore, the dessert is not OK.

Fifth Avenue is the area of shopping. It took us 20 minutes to walk there under the heat. It is better to take the cab for $5.

Great place to stay

The Riu Palace Riviera Maya was a great place to relax and enjoy some time off. My wife and I had a great time, the food was great, the drinks were refreshing and the people were excellent. We especially liked the nighttime entertainment, however, it's not Vegas, so go in with an open mind and you'll have alot of fun.

Little town of Playacar is nearby, about a 15 minute walk or a $5 cab ride. Plenty of shops, restaurants and bars to go to. If taking a cab, just tell the driver Quinta Avenida (5th Avenue) and he'll get you there.

great service

The resort was amazing. I was impressed with the hotel itself it was beautilful along with the beach. I have never seen anything like it. The service was exceptional I have never experienced such care and attention. It was worth every penny... The only thing I wasnt so pleased with was the food for the buffet I was expecting more authentic food. The pool was great along with all the bars. The drinks were always made to my liking. It was the best vacation I have ever had.

Excelent value

RIU Palace Riviera Maya is a great and beautiful hotel. Architecture is very nice, but specially loved the staff, the friendliness & the beach. Additionally you can just get on a 2-km walk and get downtown in Playa del Carmen. I really recommend it!.
