fabulous place
The location of Maya Villa is wonderful. Quietly one block from any beach noise (only one block from the beach) and one block from the fun of great restaurants and shopping of Playa's Fifth Avenue. Kindness abounded in every staff member. Amenities were abundant. Wonderful breakfast right on the beach - again, total warmth and support from wait staff etc. Not to mention the jacuzzi and waterfall, full gym and great guys taking care of our chairs and umbrellas. Highly recommended!

Fantastic Location, Good Value
This is not a 5* resort with all the trimmings (which I must admit Im used to) but its actually a nice alternative to the whole hotel scene. The staff are very friendly, especially the front desk staff and on the whole efficient! The appartments (I had a 2 bed, 2 bath) are very spacious and clean. The gym is actually a real gym and has great facilities including classes. The beach club is OK, again staff nice and friendly but you cant access the sea from it as all the boats moor there, which was disappointing. For a good value vacation in a prime spot, I would definitely choose condo hotels.

Try the Cafe Tropica, looiks cheesy from the outside but the food is freshly cooked and good. I ate huevo a la mexicana every day!

Great Vacaton
Had a great time. Location perfect, close to the beach and 5th Ave but so quiet at night. Outdoor hot tub was well worth the extra money. Enjoyed the beach club and had a wonderful breakfast there daily.

The American
Location, location, location
First, this isn't really a hotel. It's a condo - and actually, it's a really nice condo in a great location. When I go on vacation - I look for cleanliness, location, price, workout facilities, and a kitchen (if possible). This place was very clean, was literally a street away from 5th avenue (the Bourbon Street of Playa del Carmen), was priced reasonable, had a real gym and a modern kitchen that you'd be proud to have in your home (albeit small). Therefore, I give this place an A+ in my book and will definitely stay here again if (when) I come back. The only potential drawback for some people would be a lack of a pool - this wasn't an issue for us because the beach was a 50 feet away.

Great vacation
We enjoyed our stay very much at the Maya Villa Condos. Although we had an issue with the first condo that we were placed in, the staff was able to accommodate us by moving us to another condo, which turned out to be excellent. It was very clean, modern, quiet, spacious, and comfortable. We liked the kitchen, but ended up only having breakfast and snacks in the condo because the grocery stores were a longish walk and didn't have the greatest selection. But there were lots of restaurants in the area (check out Kaxapa Factory). We didn't stay at the Indigo Beach Club past the first day or so, and ended up moving to other Beach Clubs in front of swimming areas, which worked out fine.

We would return
While we were surprised having to put down a room deposit at arrival, we got all of it back immediately upon departure. We had trouble with the ceiling fan lights and remotes. And those were two really small issues, otherwise, we had a great stay. Location was great, unbelievably quite being so close to the action. We never had a car, taxis were trustworthy. Food at the hotel super...the included breakfast was terrific & the service was super. No doubt we would return.
