Relaxing stay with lots of pampering
If you've ever wanted to live like a king without the burdens of running a country and dodging political assassins, the Aventura Spa delivers. Loved that the spa side of the hotel was adults-only: made for a more serene, relaxing atmosphere. You can still go to restaurants, see shows, etc. on the Cove side of the hotel. With lots of beach space, relaxing palapas (giant gazebos on the beach), and a first-rate spa, we were able to forget about the world for a while. The $1500 credit is for real, and makes this a great value! EXTREMELY responsive staff, always with a great attitude, who work very hard. They are what makes this place great. Good options for food, with something open pretty much all the time, and room service second to none. Our only (very minor) quibble was the lack of fresh fruit in meals, juices, etc: most of it was processed, including at the juice bar. Seems like an odd choice in Mexico. Make sure you examine the controls on the room air conditioner. We had ours on High for most of our stay, which was overkill. Overall, though, a great stay. Can't wait to go back.

Short drive from hotel
If you do get tired of the hotel food, there are a couple of great places to eat in Playa: Bio-Natural, a great little vegetarian restaurant on 5th Avenue (La Quinta) in Playa. Serves delicious vegetarian meals, mostly Middle Eastern. I'm no veg myself -- give me my sausage and bacon! -- but I'll walk past three steakhouses to eat here. 5th Av. ("La Quinta"), b/w Calles 40 & 42. El Fogon, a streetside restaurant away from the tourist areas that serves absolutely awesome tacos. Its tacos al pastor alone are worth the trip. Inexpensive, and popular with the locals, plus the occasional tourist. Calle 6 & 30 Av. Most taxi drives should know where it is. There's also a big Wal-Mart-stye store across the street, in case you want some supplies or groceries.

No Such Thing as Freebies
The $750 in resort credits were a JOKE it was only a chance to buy something at the resort that was over priced and then pay an 11.5% tax on total purchase. This offer offended most of the guests , it was sad to hear the negitive comments about one of my favorite places to vacation. The property is great but this offer was a poor decision on the part of management , and even worse when they are trying to introduce a new brand name. In the future I will be looking for direct flights as airline is not trying to make flying enjoyable. Prearranged seating was not had as I had to sit seperate from my wife. I do not know if this was Airline or Travel agent but I will change things next trip.

Wonderful
Very nice. Nothing against kids, but it was nice to have the separation. The staff are wonderful...a facial is a must! The room was described as ocean view but it was only visible if you stood in the right place on the balcony on a windy day. The view was still beautiful, but should not be described as ocean view, not worth the upgrade. There are courtyards between buildings that offer beautiful areas. Rooms were cleaned daily along with occasional turn-down service. Room service was prompt and friendly. The food thru out was very good, lots of choices. The pool set up is nice to have a party feel or a private feel. You are not able to enjoy the ocean waves. There is a large reef that creates a small area to swim and there are nice beach areas. The transfer did not show when scheduled. The credits have limitations. Set up any appointments right away, they fill up fast and it will take half of your day to complete.

Be very careful of the "Vacation Club" presentation and personnel.
We were naive enough to agree to listen to their presentation of the "vacation package" while we were visiting Riviera Maya last month. We were easily able to resist purchasing the overpriced "vacation insurance" they kept pushing on us, but finally wore down at their final effort to get us to come back by making a down payment on a vacation certificate for a single return trip. A young lady named Grace Pena told us that for $1200 we could purchase this certificate which was good for a four night ,five day stay at a Hard Rock hotel in 2013 or 2014. It sounded reasonable enough, so we paid a down payment of $300, and were told that we could pay the remaining $600 in two installments. I really don't know why I was surprised when the representative of the company who contacted us after our return home told me that she was not able to honor the price of $1200, that the actual price of the discount certificate was over $1500. I don't know why I was surprised when she told me that our initial payment of $300 was only a non-refundable "processing fee." (There is no mention of this anywhere on anything we were given.) I would seriously steer clear of this place at all costs. The food is mediocre at best, there is no beach, just rocky lagoons that are underwhelming, and grounds that are old and shabby. They will pressure you very hard to buy into their vacation club. The front desk staff is rude and unhelpful.

Dissapointed mini getaway!
We arrived and one of the rooms was not ready on time. It was after 3:00, check in time. The food was lacking, not much of a variety. The Italian Restaurant was good, fresh but it did take them an hour and half to seat us. They often ran out of Dos X and Tecate lite, and when it would become available the beer was hot. Its advertised as a Palace, not true! The advertisement said we would be able to visit the other Palaces, no such thing! The hotel needs extensive work, its run down. If you're looking for white sandy beaches, this is not your hotel. No beach access, and whatever looks like a small area of beach is crusher fine rock. The hotel staff could of been a little more friendly, compare to other hotels we have stayed this one is way at the bottom and we will not be back!

An Average Resort....
Although I do not frequent resorts often, I can say that for the price that I paid for this vacation I was underwhelmed. The rooms were nice and always cleaned perfectly, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was ok, not great, but abundant. The pools were small, clean and the boozy crowd had a separate area. The music was over-played and overly loud. The people at the salon were great, the spa not so much. Resort credit seems like a good deal until you pay the 11% tax, on top of what you have already paid for. It was nice, clean and I had a good time, but was it worth the price tag? Not really.

IN-LAWS WEEKEND
Very relaxing, with amazing uncrowded grounds. Natural, sea water pools are outstanding. Food, service and staff attitude a big plus, as compared with others in the area. Recommend the Buffet Lunch, while at the pool and beach and Italian at night. Music by the pool with live band was a nice surprise.

Wedding Anniversary Trip
It was my first trip to Mexico, I was little scared because of media reports. The truth is there is nothing to worry. Cancun air port customs was fast, we were out within 15 minutes. We were greeted by our transportation company Grey Line. All the staff was helpful. We reached at Aventura Spa Palace at 2:30 pm and they took couple of minutes for check in. We got the 1500 credits and we used it for SPA, Lobster Romantic dinner and Tequila. We also visited Playa car Palace resort and they have a wonderful beach. Since it is a part of Palace resort, we got the food for free. We also visited Xelha and Dolphinaris Park, we never had any problem. The Aventura Spa Palace Staff were wonderful and helpful all the time. We tried most of the restaurants at ASP and Cove side and all are good.

Honeymoon at Aventura Spa Palace
My wife and I got married on 12/30/11 and headed to Aventura Spa Palace for our honeymoon. The resort was about an hours drive from the Cancun airport. Once we got to the resort we were both greeted with cool towels and a nice drink. We then proceeded to check-in then a bell boy brought us up to our room taking care of all of our bags. On the way to the room the bell boy explained the resort, the restaurants, what was in the room, where to get what. He was very informative. Once we got to the room we thought it was ok. Not amazing, not terrible. It was a nice room overall with a two person jacuzzi tub. It had a fully stocked mini fridge as well as a fully stocked liquor bar. The one thing that I really didn't like was the bed. It was nice and big but was very firm and didn't seem very high quality. The bathroom was smaller then we expected but was still nice. The shower was large so that was really nice. The resort itself is beautiful! It has many walking paths and many areas to check out. The pool and lagoon were very pretty and was a great backdrop to just relax. The staff was very helpful always making sure you had a drink. Also, my favorite was that the pool bar always had fresh tortilla chips with fresh guacamole (yum!) as well as other toppings. You could also order food from the grill. The staff had music playing somewhat loud close to the pool bar but if you traveled away from that you could find some nice quiet areas to relax. The food was ok. I wouldn't come here for the food. It was definitely fine to eat but lacked something for both my wife and I. I suggest finding your way over to the Aventura Cove Palace (right next door) and eat there. We loved the authentic Mexican restaurant at the Cove! It was very very good! We also took a day trip up to the Playacar Palace in Play Del Carmen. There food was amazing as well. The great thing about the Palace resorts is you can still eat at all of the different Palace owned resorts in the area even if you are not staying there. This was definitely a plus for us. Also, the Playacar Palace was right on the beautiful beach of Playa Del Carmen. So Beautiful! Definitely worth a trip or taxi ride up to see it. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The one downfall that we experienced was as of 1/1/12 the hotel was beginning to use a new computer system to book all of the activities through (using the $1500 credit they provide to guests). The system was very slow so made arranging activities somewhat longer then expected. Then when we went to checkout to head to the airport they had in their system that we went over our credit amount by $200 which we did not. It took 45 minutes for them to get it straightened out which caused a little panic as we were worried we would be late for our flight. In the end they fixed it and everything turned out fine. I recommend checking with the front desk to take care of any expenses the night before you plan to checkout so if something is wrong you have enough time to deal with it. I would recommend going here. It was very beautiful and the staff was very good. Please remember to tip the staff as they work very hard to make the resort a relaxing and great experience for everyone.

If just two of you are traveling just take a taxi from the airport rather then setup a van to pick you up. A taxi from the airport to the Spa Palace was $60 plus tip. The van ride we had setup to get to the Spa Palace cost us $80 plus tip.
