This quaint hotel is the brainchild of noted Oaxacan artist Rolando Rojas, an internationally renowned painter also professionally trained in architecture and restoration. Interestingly, Roja`s lively contemporary pieces blend seamlessly with this delightful artisan home whose walls were painted with an ancient technique that grinds stone into dust and mixes it with a special agglutinant of nopal cactus gum.
Six guest rooms are distributed around a central courtyard where exquisite full oaxacan and American breakfast can be enjoyed. While guestrooms are similar in design, decor in each is based on a unique color scheme that matches the artwork that is features in each accommodation. Abstract paintings by noted Mexican artists become focal points among traditional wooden fixtures, local textiles and brick flooring.
The hotel's temascal (indigenous steam bath) is an added treat and guests can also enjoy en suite Mixteco Zapoteco massages.
Casa Catrina is ideal for traveler's that want local attractions on their doorstep. Fine dining is steps away and main interest sites such as the Zocalo, art galleries and shops areas all a short walk from this charming abode.
Oaxaca is a beautiful place where you can found archeological zones, colonial buildings, gastronomy, galleries, handcrafts, Indians markets, and a lot of traditions and culture.

The Place to Stay!
The location was perfect. I mean perfect!! The view from the roof deck, the nearby shopping, markets, places to eat, good coffee cafes, the main plaza, all these only a very short walk. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. The breakfast was so very good. Limited menu but fresh and served daily with baked pastries. There was some road work being done while we were there but the hotel itself was quite inside. The site it really lovely and the rooms done in color themes was just great. My only so not good comment is the beds were a bit hard after a few days and a coffee pot in the rooms would be nice but really no big deal. We would also highly recommend Jaime Armengol Juarez for tours and driving around the area. He did a super job for us and we felt very safe with him. He even drove us to the ocean ( 6 hours away )and picked us up after our stay there. When we returned to this hotel they were waiting and ready for us. We had an early morning flight out and once again they were ready for us with coffee brought to our room and someone there to help with our bags. We would stay here again!!!

To really get around and see the sites ( there are so many, many things to do and see ) have the hotel fix you up with [...]. Very knowledgeable, fun and on time every time and safe. He drove us to some of the best places to shop and eat too.
