villa del palmar NV

Nuevo Vallarta is too far away from Puerto Vallarta. 25 mins by car, 25-40$ taxi ride. Even if you want quiet, too many hotels in that location. You also had to pay extra to use the gym, Wi Fi, Internet. Plus, you have to see their Resort vacation club speech to get the hotel discounts. Best thing was the Spa. Beautiful and elegant!

Relaxing family stay in remote resort

We have stayed at this hotel and its sister locations before. We went with our 2 young kids this time. Great kiddie pool options, even though no slide. Check in was quick and efficient. We enjoyed a lower level suite with pool access- even if we got a waft of sewer coming out of the shower drains and heard water draining from the unit above. The food options are there but not always desirable. We suggest buying as many staples(or bring them)for the kids. Pool menu is more agreeable: pallet and pocket wise. We were surprised at the lack of deals considering the problems Mexico has had these past few months. All inclusives and theme night dinners were still a bit much to accept so we declined, and that isnt because we were $$ pinched, we just didnt feel it was worth it, especially with kid in tow. Kind of annoying: no one can give you a honest restaurant recommendation. They are all offered a flat fee for bringing you to an owners restuarant. So just when you think you have found a unique local hang out with typical food, you see that they know eachother. This happened to us and then the restaurant manager asked us to go to a presentation at the Mayan with all these activities and money thrown in. Watch the peso/dollar option...to pay in peso is better. They will slide you on that if you dont notice, ie taxi drivers. No free wi-fi..kinda annoying and expensive. They use to offer free wi-fi in the lobby at least, but found out they got rid of that 6 months ago.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Hotel has 2 restaurants, which are ok. pool menu is fair price and best offering of family fare. since the kitchen is stocked with supplies stop by the local Mega store across the highway(30 minute walk or $7 taxi cab ride each way). Bring your soap for laundry. And movies with dvd enabled laptop worled like a charm for afternoon naps with kids. They rent dvd players at a crazy price, and no free wifi: for a 5 days $40??!!! Convenient gym.

Would Stay Again

Nice, quiet rooms. Didn't like the surprise charges at check-out in regards to refrigerated items or maid service. They did remove but if you don't check or ask, it can add up. Clean beach and friendly wait staff. Great food suggestions for places to eat and visit. Need more variety for eating so don't have to travel to downtown or other areas. Would stay again.

Nice place!

far away from town, unless you don't mind going to town, this is fine. the menu was great, but was limited. After being there a week, I wish there were more choices. Friendly staff, nice place, just wish it would've been with in walking distance of shops, etc. (I'm comparing the location to a place we stayed in to Playa del Carmen which might not be fair).

Relaxing hotel/good food

My boyfriend and I really liked the hotel. It was our first time to Puerto Vallarta. This hotel is a 45 min. bus ride from Vallarta Viejo and that made it a little inconvenient. We wanted to see the old city of Puerto Vallarta but if you didn't care to do that this hotel is a perfect location. Bucerias is a nearby city and worth visiting. It's 20 minutes on the beach. Our only hassle with this trip was booking with Orbitz. Somehow our "All Inclusive" option was lost so we just ate out and experienced more places in Mexico. Hotel restaurant was great on the two nights we had dinner there!

Get to Old Vallarta. It's beautiful there and reminded me of Barcelona, Spain. The shopping, restaurants and entertainment were amazing. Get out of Nuevo Vallarta and experience the real city!

Could be an excellent place, but...

We paid for an "upgrade" from a standard studio room. Upon checking in were told our room wasn't available and they put us in a Studio and said to check back the following day. We did and it became clear that they would not put us in the room we paid for unless we attended their 90 minute presentaion. That alone dropped what would have been a 5 star review to two. The front desk staff was terrible including the manager when they realized I had no interest in going through the 90 minute presentation. It's unfortunate for the hotel as the rest of the staff was incredible, some of the best service I have had before! The two on-site resturants were very good as well, great presentation and service. Our "studio" room was ok, we paid for an oceanview and they put us on the first floor where you can only see a speck of the ocean. Being on the first floor in this hotel is painful if you like to sleep in as there is tile out in the hallway and you hear every cart going by plus some weird noises from the plumbing. The pool is very nice and the staff puts on some very good shows during the week. Adding the all-inclusive was perfect for us and we preceived it as a very good value. If their front desk staff was as good as the rest of the resort we would have looked into buying a timeshare at this place, not so as it only takes a couple of people to ruin an opinion of what would be an awesome vacation desination.

Perfect for our Family

We use this time for a get away vacation. This is not a trip. We rent an A unit, one bedroom suite. We use all the facilities: from the gym to the pool and beach. The rooms are perfect for one couple and a grown child. If we were to increase our number, we could easily rent the unit B next door. The best part is the beach and endless walking available. Friendly staff, good choices for dining. We will be back..

boring

It was farther up from P.V. than I thought and come the weekend it was full of loud kids. If you have a family and don't plan on going downtown that often, then It's alright. Not much of a bar or party atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable and range from small to 2 bdrm suites. plus the a/c works well.
