PV 12/2 - 12/6
All reviews about this Riu were correct. Arrived to an empty resort. On Friday they busses in a lot of locals and the resort was packed for the weekend. Buffets were ok. Brazilian rest was pretty good. "Asian" restaurant was foul. Taco cart was delicious. Rooms are tiny and loud. I could hear our neighbor puking every night. Beds were hard. Ocean water is dirty. If I returned to PV I would stay at another resort. Perhaps the Riu Palace but not the Jalisco. And thats not anything against the property or its employees which were beautiful and great.

I booked the Las Caletas trip via Puerto Adventures. Our trip was cancelled and they really didnt notify me. I called the day of the trip and found out what the message they left for me meant. Now I get to wait 10 buisness days to get my refund.

Great Vaca Not so Great Accomodations
During my vacation, I relaxed. I spent time on the beach and in the pool. I ate and drank and did little activity. The food was ok but acceptable. The drinks were amazing. The hotel room was mediocre. The beds were terrible and smelled of mold. Other than that, it was a great place. However, I would not go back.

I cannot wait to go back!
My husband and I went with family and friends. The staff was amazing and very personal, even down to the maids. There was never a lack of something to do. They knew how to make you feel at home, even when you are on vacation. The resort was beautiful and the food was great.

Very Happy Customers!
CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!!
This was our second trip to a Riu in Puerto Vallarta this year! We have stayed at the Riu Vallarta and the Riu Jaliso and loved them both! You are waited on hand and foot, the staff is unbelievably friendly and helpful. The beach is amazing, and there are plenty of chairs to go around. You truly don't have to leave at all if you don't want to, everything is there from the food, to drinks, to entertainment throughout the day and nightly shows as well. The maids do a wonderful job and even cater to your personal preferences (I love the towel animals and they make me new ones everyday to add to the collection). The grounds are gorgeous and perfectly maintained and the hotel itself is simply beautiful. We can't wait to go back!

We did the ATV/Zip Line excursion which was a lot of fun, but be prepared to get REALLY DUSTY! We also did the city bus tour which is good for first-timers. Lastly we swam with the Dolphins through Vallarta Adventures and the was an experience of a lifetime! Lots to do!

Great hotel
Palace-style hotel with beautiful grounds and a great beach. Large variety of food although very similar among the restaurants. Breakfast is luxurious. Great pool. Overall I would recommend. We've stayed at Mariott resorts and this is a great value considering that all the food/drinks included.

Average experience
The resort itself was nice. However, our experience was average. There are very limited activities, a small pool and a "nothing" nightlife. The food in the buffet was "ok". They closed the restaurants the day after we arrived, because of the lower occupancy (over 1000 people checked out the day after we arrived). I guess they forgot to tell [...] us or anyone else traveling from outside Mexico that during Columbus week, they offered rooms to native Mexicans for 200 Pesos for 3-days for a family. When we booked this trip, it was advertised as having the restaurant options open. We would go back to Puerto Vallarta, but not to this resort.
