Nice "looking" from the outside...

While the beach looked very nice, with a wonderful frontage of the ocean, this resort seemed outdated with very few modern amenities for such an "upscale" all-inclusive "resort." It was almost impossible to do something as simple as make a phone call or access the Internet. While it's true that you are not there to spend the whole time in your room, there were only three English-broadcast stations. The "Sport Bar" had coin-op pool tables- in an all-inclusive resort!? The staff was extrememly friendly, but each department had zero knowledge of the other departments, making things very difficult.

Unbeatable location for the price

Great place, people, staff, and location. Maybe it's just a personal opinion but when you go to Mexico you always have regular street style tacos de asada and it was missing at this resort. Otherwise I had a great time and look foward to going again next year. Hope to see you there!

we went whale watching with Vallarta adventures ,they are at the marina at Nuevo Vallarta and in Puerto Vallarta also, they had a very good and passionated crew ,the guide was a zoologist spending all her time following humpback whales all over the pacific ocean , the ride is amazing but can be a little bit uncomfortable when the sea is wavy .

The resort has hundres of palm trees!

We stayed 30 nights. We were very satisfied with the cleanliness of the room, the hotel in general, the friendly staff, very hard working and accommodating, the grounds are a masterpiece, the beach area has comfortable chairs and the waiters serve drinks most days, the restaurants are clean and very organized, the food - fresh, good quality and great variety, although there was a lot of food dedicated to the Mexican customers in particular. I would go back in a heart beat, 30 days was just enough to relax and make friends with other guests. Now for the small complaints: The 1st complaint I have is that there are drunken, loud, abusive guests that yell and scream and disrupt the other guests who are trying to sleep. This happens almost every night, 2 3 4 5 in the morning. Security doesn't seem to be able to control or act quickly enough to subdue these people. Shame as most of the words spoken were in English which can only mean that the Americans and Canadians staying are the culprits, shame, shame, shame, don't they know that 1100 is the start of quiet time....these people should be taken off the premises! No respect for others - plain and simple. 2nd complaint is that the Internet cost. The hotel is sure making a killing on the charges, there is no alternative unless you walk 1/2 - 1 hour to the internet cafes at the nearest village. There should be a review of the policy for the internet. This is a big concern for us as we had a long stay. Although there is internet connection if you bring your own notebook, but not everyone has one. 3rd complaint is the Seaside cafe has birds flying into the restaurant, sitting on the tables and chairs trying to find some food. This is not very sanitary - it would be a good thing to have the waiters wash the tables and also wash the chairs using a different paper towel to wash each item. It would make a big difference when you are having your lunch not to see dry poop on the chair you are about to sit on. 5 minutes is all that the waiters need to do a good job in keeping the restaurant clean.

Bring your own notebook, it will save you a lot of money! Take the bus everywhere you need to go, you see the sights and pay a fraction of the cost of a taxi, good transportation to and from the hotel to downtown, take about an hour. Slow down and enjoy!

PV 12/2 - 12/6

All reviews about this Riu were correct. Arrived to an empty resort. On Friday they busses in a lot of locals and the resort was packed for the weekend. Buffets were ok. Brazilian rest was pretty good. "Asian" restaurant was foul. Taco cart was delicious. Rooms are tiny and loud. I could hear our neighbor puking every night. Beds were hard. Ocean water is dirty. If I returned to PV I would stay at another resort. Perhaps the Riu Palace but not the Jalisco. And thats not anything against the property or its employees which were beautiful and great.

Great Vaca Not so Great Accomodations

During my vacation, I relaxed. I spent time on the beach and in the pool. I ate and drank and did little activity. The food was ok but acceptable. The drinks were amazing. The hotel room was mediocre. The beds were terrible and smelled of mold. Other than that, it was a great place. However, I would not go back.
