EXCELLENT VACATION

I went to Dreams the first week of Feb 09 with my honey. The hotel had only been open a couple months. The rooms were AWESOME !! We had a mountain view which was good because we were on the beach during the day. The food was great as well as the drinks. If my glass was almost empty, someone would be right there asking if I would like another drink. We drank from morning till night and loved every minute of it. The bartendar [...] was sweet and mixed us up a new drink that was great. Everyone was very nice and attentive. I would recommend this hotel for anyone. This was a great place to hang out and relax at the beach. We did a zip line thru the mountains and it was beautiful. That was the only time we left the hotel (besides playing golf at El Tigre). Very relaxing

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

If you like to shop there is only one place and it's a short walk on the beach. There was a gift shop and a little convenient/gift shop there as well. They didn't have much of a selection and they were pricey. Take the matress pad off the bed. If you don't you will get VERY hot a night.

Our wonderful vacation

This was our first trip to Mexico and we did not really know what to expect. It was our first vacation ever without kids and we were really looking forward to it. Dreams was a wonderful place to be, from the very beginning. We were welcomed with big smiles from everyone, given cold mimosas while checking in, and a cold wet washcloth scented with lavender to freshen up with. We were then led up to our room which was on the tropical side of the hotel. Our one negative was that we were originally on the second floor. There is a lot of construction going on in the area and it was a lot noisier than we would have liked. We switched rooms on the second day and it was much better. The staff went out of their way the entire time to make us feel welcome. They had quite a few activities going on throughout the day - beach volleyball, water polo, water trampoline, kayaking - all kinds of things to do. The servers were always close by to offer you a cold drink as well. The restaurants were overall very good. El Patio was open every other night and the food was excellent. The Italian restaurant, Portofino, was very good - this was only open one of the nights that we were there. The Seaside Grill and Oceana had a fairly good selection of fish and steaks. The World Cafe had an outstanding breakfast buffet. The meal highlight of our time was the Friday night Mexican buffet. I think this was the best food that I have ever had in my life. They had a number of different kinds of tequila set up as you came down to the buffet area - careful with that stuff. My one negative, if this even is a negative, was that I would have liked better entertainment. Most nights there was only a person singing bad renditions of popular songs. This area really does need a little improvement. Overall, we had a fantastic trip and I would not hesitate to return.

Dreams will arrange a taxi for you to go into Puerto Vallarta and the price is about the same - 150-160 pesos. Make sure to agree on a price with the taxi driver for the way back BEFORE you get in. We had a taxi driver try to charge us $100.00 (he didn't get that, but still).

Excellent Accomodations

The hotel was great. We stayed in the junior suite on the ocean side and it was plenty big enough. The bathroom had a shower and a bathtub, if that's your thing. Our king size bed was extremely comfortable. There was also a pretty large elbow shaped couch in the room. The balcony was probably 8 feet by 10 feet fully equipped with a jacuzzi tub. All you have to do is turn on the water (like in the bathtub) and turn on the jets when the water gets above the jets. Overall, the room was perfect and I couldn't have asked for better accomodations. The staff at the hotel were extremely nice and helpful. When you arrive they get your bags, bring you a mimosa, get you checked in very quickly, and show you around the complex and into your room. The lobby bar is the best bar in the hotel. It is fully equipped with what I would call middle/upper shelf alcohol (Crown Royal, Absolut, Jager, Hornitos). There are about 4 to 5 different pools you can go to between the hotel and the beach. There are wait staff all over the place to get you drinks. I recommend the Ticket to Fly. Greatness. We would just tip a few dollars every now and then. We probably gave $15-$20 total the whole trip in tips. The food was actually pretty good. There are 6 or 7 different places to eat. Some are buffet style and some are restaurant style. The world cafe is usually open for lunch and is what you would expect from a buffet. The restaurants however have very good meals and you can order as much and whatever you want off of the menu. The only 2 things I would have done differently on this trip is 1) Stay longer and 2)Not pay for the Gray Line Shuttle option when I booked the vacation on Orbitz. The shuttle cost $66 up front. When we arrived, the Gray Line guy just checked our name off the list and stuck us in a $15 cab. The same with the return to the airport except the Gray Line guy literally handed the cab driver $15 out of his wallet. So unless you want to pay double for your transportation, don't pick this option. The bell boys can have a cab to the hotel in 1 minute and there are plenty of cabs at the airport to hail. Overall it was a great vacation and wonderful accommodations. I would highly recommend this place to any of my friends and family and anyone reading this review.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

The rooftop bar is open usually from 9 until 1. At 10, they serve sushi rolls and have live music. There is generally a pretty decent crowd and is a good place to meet people who are staying at the resort with you. They also have deals to go into town. I think it was $45 for all you can drink and a one way shuttle ride to a specified bar in Puerto Vallarta (think Carlos and Charlies or Senor Frogs). You just find one of the many cabs around the area to return to the hotel whenever you feel like it. If you go downtown for dinner, I would recommend Pipi's (pronounced pee pee's). They have Tex Mex style mexican with the biggest margarita's I have ever seen. It had to have been 64 ounces because my girlfriend only finished half of hers at the restaurant and still had enough to fill up a 32 ounce styrofoam to-go cup for the ride home.

We had a great experience... from the minute we arrived to our check out date. We can not get over how friendly and helpful the staff are! We relaxed by the pools and participated in a few activities from the many the hotel has to offer. We felt very safe and really enjoyed our stay. Oh and ALL INCLUSIVE is the way to go!!!

Dreams Villamagna

Dreams was awesome, the service is great, manuel, cesar, leonardo and hector are the best, be nice to them and they will be 200% nicer to you. Get a boogie board at the entertainment center, they are so fun. Don't forget to tip your bartenders,... servers, etc., a little sugar goes a long, long, long way. Enjoy sugar reef bar, the best place to meet people and get to know your bartenders. Food is good, especially if your nice to the wait staff, you get what you give. I will definately go back if I am able to in the future. Thanks for the suprise dessert platter Leonardo, we had a lot of fun with that.

"Romantic getaway"

The hotel was beautiful and clean. The staff was helpful and attentive. The food was amazing! It was an incredible experience. My only complaints are that the hotel had no nightclub and the transportation to downtown is limited to expensive taxis, they should set up a bus route for tourist. Other than that it was perfect!

Take a taxi to downtown and get different prices for the adventure tours. On average they are $30 dollars cheaper from what you would get at the hotel. Also change your money downtown as well. The hotel rate for the dollar was 12 pesos while in downtown it is 13.90. Makes quite a difference. TAKE BUG REPELLENT!!!

Very Exciting Stay!!

Our stay at Dreams Villamagna was awesome!! It was exactly what we were looking for! This trip was a surprise for my husband for my husband, so the expectations were pretty high. As soon as we pulled up to the hotel, it was like a dream. The lobby is open to the breeze, so you can feel the breeze, and smell the bay water. From the moment we stepped out of the cab, the service was stellar. They held our bags for us and as soon as we got checked in, they escorted us all the way to the 7th floor. The concierge showed us how to work the safe, how to work the jacuzzi, and all of the other features of the room. As soon as he left, and we got settled in, my husband realized that he could not find his wallet! He went back downstairs and we looked through all of our bags but it was nowhere. He took the receipt we had from the cab ride to the concierge to see if we could call the cab company, but there was no number and the hotel had never heard of them. The staff went out of their way to help us locate the wallet, and even called Orbitz to see if Orbitz had the number. Later, while in our room, we received a telephone call from the taxi driver, who said he had our wallet. He drove back to the hotel to bring it to us, and no cash was taken!! (Shocked!) We were very grateful. The staff went out of their way to make unique drinks for us the whole time we were there, and there was always something to do at the hotel. The only downside was that the location was about 25 miles from downtown, so to get to any bars or clubs, you had to take a cab, which was about 10 to 20 us dollars each way. Save your money and drink at the hotel... they have a lot of options anyways. The rooms were gorgeous, and even though we paid for a tropical view, we got somewhat of an ocean view. Be sure to do one of the canopy activities--they are well worth it. They even have one that goes through the set where Predator was filmed. We had a wonderful time at Dreams Villamagna and would definitely recommend to anyone!

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

If you are going into town, it is much cheaper to take the bus, and it is very tourist friendly. To get to the marina by taxi, it is 12 bucks one way. By bus, it is only about 2 dollars a person. Also, if you want to purchase the excursions, then go into town and purchase from a vendor. The hotel price is much higher, unless you want to haggle with them and get the price down.

Great time!

We stayed at the Dreams Villamagna for a total of 12 days. Everything was great. The staff is super helpful and always do their best to make you happy. Even if small things go wrong, ex. our phone in our room had problems dialing, the staff is immediately getting someone to help fix it. [...] on the entertainment staff was great! My favorite drink there was the mango daquiris, so yummy. The views and sunsets are amazing. We will definitely be going back!

Wonderful vacation

The resort was gorgeous and very welcoming. The rooms were amazing... beautifully done, large, comfortable with great service. The pools were wonderful. The beach was fantastic and ocean was so fun to play in. Our only complaint was that sometimes the food service was a little slow (restaurant and room service) due to high volume. But the food was very good overall and the whole resort was perfect!

Don't get suckered into the timeshare presentation right after you get out of customs! We actually had a man take our luggage asking if we needed a taxi. Instead, he took it over to the timeshare people. We decidedit might be ok to go look at the resort (Villa Flamingo) anyway and spent FOUR HOURS trying to tell them no! At the end they were very agressive and rude and we both were extremely upset and flustered. We learned our lesson!

Beautiful spot no need to leave

This is a beautiful Dreams property. The pool is wonderful. This is the place to go just to relax and do nothing. Big decision of the day is what resturant is open for dinner. The pool/bar staff was great. No empty glasses there. If it's not there just ask they'll get it if they can.
