Great location for a traveler on a budget!

SF Hotel is the perfect place if you are a budget traveler looking for a place centrally located to the Alameda, Palacio de Bellas Artes, bus lines, and metro (Bellas Artes/Hidalgo/Juarez). The Centro Historico is only blocks away. The hotel room was clean--it had a desk, an old box tv, a closet, and night stands. In terms of amenities, there is no hairdryer, and there is free wifi (Cablevision) that works well enough to facetime or skype (video quality isn't GREAT, but it works). The bathroom was tiled floor to ceiling. There were only 2 outlet plugs (grounded) near the desk, 2 plugs in the bathroom (1 normal, 1 euro-shave), and the room is NOT air-conditioned (something to keep in mind). The windows open to give the room some air circulation; there are no fans either, but this was not a problem for June weather (58F-72F and rainy). The hotel also does not have its own water filtration system so the sink and shower water is NOT potable--it is best to purchase large bottles of water to use for brushing your teeth (luckily there are several "mini-supers" (convenience stores) nearby. I stayed in June and there were a wide variety of hotel guests--Mexican citizens/businessmen/tourists, American/Canadian tourists, and American charity organizations. The restaurant downstairs has very decent food for the price (90 pesos for a plate of grilled chicken, veggies, and rice)--this is compared to a similar plate down the street at Gino's (Italian--very delicious), which would go for 140 pesos. If you are a budget traveler that is not interested in all those extra amenities, I would highly recommend this location.

Gino's (Italian), El Cardenal Restaurant (located on the 1st floor at the Hilton--Great Mexican food), and Cielito Querido Cafe (the Starbucks of Mexico City--try their Horchata!).

Great view!

We had a nice one night stay here and got a room on the 14th floor with an amazing view of the Alameda and the Torre Latino America. For the price the place was a steal. The room was worn, but the bathroom seemed upgraded and new. No wifi upstairs but we did get it in the lobby.

Good location|

Good location, near the city centre, but the room was not clean... It was so dusty carpet, and bottles and other stuff underneath the beds..

Simple, clean and convenient

The hotel is perfectly located along the Alameda, within walking distance of Mexico City's historic sites and popular shopping areas. MetroBus and Metro underground are within short walking distance. The room is simple, but clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and responsive. The restaurant and bar are convenient. I would recommend Hotel San Francisco as an alternative to the pricier hotels in the same area.

Simpel, but big rooms and a good location.

I like t it. We stay there 2 days when we arrived mexico and to days before we got home to Norway. I liked the first room best. The secound room whas older and this time is was not that clean as the the first room we got. I forgot me phone the second time, and when we got back to pick it up the sim card was stolen... :( But after all, we liked the room. Really good location, big and soft beds, Ok rooms. I will go back here. Just dont leave your phone there. :)

Not so great

Hotel is in desperate remodel needs (carpet, windows, bathroom, etc.) there is no heater nor AC. All week when I was there their phone was down, so when ever I was in need of anything I had to go to the libby to ask for it, I was on the 13th floor. If you need a place to just keep your stuff, this hotel is great, but if you planing on staying/spending some time in your room this hotel is not the way to go.

Save your money

Had to change rooms first day. All rooms had only one electrical outlet. Internet was not there except behind the front desk. There are several good hotels about a block away. Here all you get is a bed and shower. TV has only local channels.
