No Good as expected

confusion as to confirmed room - poor service

When I checked in after many hours of travel needing a nap, they had every single detail of my reservation wrong. I had double-checked (even with hotel itself) before leaving for my trip to make sure all the details were right to avoid problems when I got there but they still got it wrong. There could be a lack of communication amongst staff, or not entering the correct details on the computer for all staff to see. I had to leave my bag and walk the city streets until a manager came on duty who immediately recognized my name and everything was as it was booked. In the meantime, I had been without a room for about 3 hours. Service was rude and there was certainly no apology after they sorted it. I was placed in a nice renovated room, but with the problem of construction going on in the room directly above me. I was asked to change and was given an older room directly across from an elevator. Not perfect, but better than a jackhammer right above me. As someone mentioned, no free bottle of water; also the internet is very slow. On the other hand, breakfast quality and variety was excellent and the entire staff at the restaurant during breakfast was helpful, professional and nice. There is a station where you can order your eggs exactly as you want them (this way avoiding the scrambled eggs at the buffet which are of course sitting there for a while). There was also a wide variety of healthier choice breakfast options, such as freshly pressed juices, etc.

Great Facility Run Poorly

I will start by saying my room was clean, large and the bed very comforable. The bath was attractive. The hotel is in an excellent location. I would recommend it with one caveat. It took me 40 minutes to check in. The staff is slow and they are overworked. The hotel is nickle and diming its customers. No free internet ... it was over $15 a day, and no free water in the room. Breakfast was lousy and overpriced. I went across the street and paid half as much for a better buffet.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Use the metro and the busses. This hotel is a 4 minute walk from the Insurgentes Metro stop. It costs only 3 pesos and will take you anywhere. The busses along the Reforma are also excellent. El Refugio de Fonda Restaurant which is recommended by the New York Times is across the street.

understaffed

My shower was broken, the neighbor was loud (they had those adjacent doors between the rooms). I got a random knock on the door in the morning wanting to know if I wanted laundry service. Then they pre charged a tip. I wanted cocktails at the bar in the lobby. I waited for several minutes and then the front desk employee was asked to find somebody. The bar was open but had no staff. I then was handed two cocktail glasses with vodka poured and then I finished making my own cocktail. Asked for a lime and then was told they don't have any. So then he went to dig in the kitchen to find one and then came back and he handed them to me. This hotel is in a great neighborhood but there are others also in the same area. Also, I asked the front desk questions. Always getting a no problem as a response. But they don't know what no problem means. They just stood there . No response.

Room service was horrible. I ordered a flank steak dish that was on their menu. The meat was super tough and COLD. So, I returned it.

nice location, nice hotel

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights at the start of our trip through Mexico and it was great. Easy to get everywhere by subway or taxi (don't take the hotel taxis unless you want to get ripped off). The room and bathroom were nice. New feeling and clean. Nice balcony too. Made use of the pool and fitness center too and had no complaints. The pool was heated in winter too.
