Beautiful all around luxury hotel for vacation or business
From the moment I arrived, I was truly impressed with with the beauty of the hotel as well as the staff who were so eager to help and make your stay very comfortable. The concierge who I met first was Francisco. He is very well dressed, professional, helpful to the tee as well as bilingual as is most of the staff. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. I was on the 8th of twenty floors with ivy planters on the interior walls. Open center courtyard with a pond at the bottom and four brass and glass elevators that were tremendously fast as well as smooth and gentle. You never felt their speed but arrived at your floor almost instantly. I am almost afraid to try another hotel for fear of being disappointed because of the high standard that the Melia set. There are two restaurants. One specializes in different cuts of meat and another that specializes in Mexican food. You also have a breakfast buffet every day and a nice bar and lounge for business meetings or just socializing. My only complaint was that WiFi is extra and cost about $15.00 US a day and the valet parking if you have a rental car is disorganized but once you learn the staff and they know you, your car retrieval will be ok. I was able to leave my laptop in my room unsecured as well as other valuables and nothing was removed. The staff at this hotel is very professional and your belongings will be ok. I will return to the Melia once again and would easily recommend it to any of my friends or family in the future. I plan on using it again.

Time-saving tip:
Short drive from hotel
If you have a long or short drive, use the Melias hotel taxis. they,re not really taxis, they,re more like chauffers. They are very secure and proffessional. Mexico city is the worlds largest city and so there is a certain amount of crime. The locals are wary of they,re own city cabs so I recommend that you use Melias, drivers. It will cost you more but you will be driven in comfort in a nice vehicle and you will be able to relax because without fear of being robbed.

Absolutely an Amazing Trip
We had a wonderful stay at the Melia Mexico Reforma in Mexico City, October 13 to 17, 2011. Our check in went very quickly, but I do suggest printing out your confirmation pages and taking them with you. Some of the staff does speak English, but most are Spanish speaking. We had a wonderful view of the city and mountains as our room was on the 14th floor, which was situated on the front side of the hotel. We were part of "The Level", which includes a wonderful hot buffet breakfast each morning, snacks, fresh fruits, bottled water, and soda throughout the day, and then from 6-8pm we were provided an open bar w/ beer, liquor and wines, along with hot/cold finger foods, that is good enough for a meal (if you eat enough). Always grab a couple of bottles of water each time you go, as there is no 'free' water in your room and when you're going out into the town, take a bottle per person with you. The water at the hotel is filtered but our group was advised to not even brush your teeth with the tap water. Our room consisted of a king size bed, TV, chair w/ an ottoman, a desk and chair. There are no dressers to store your folded clothes, but the closet is OK for hanging, with a safe, an iron and ironing board, and a couple of shelves for folded clothes. The bathroom was larger than I thought it would be, w/ a full tub, a separate walk in shower, coffee maker, blow dryer, and shelves to hold your bathroom items. The hotel gives you the first coffee set up, then each additional day you request it is a charge of $45 pesos. I took instant coffee, creamer and sugar w/ me and used the bottled water for this also. The road noise was not bad, but sirens (due to emergency vehicles) could be heard alot. Be prepared for lots of traffic during the day and early evening. We did make use of city taxis and depending on your driver, he'll get you where ever you're going quickly or take his time. We also used the city bus, and this was the cheapest and quickest trip, $4.50 pesos and 20 minutes to get from the Basilica to the Hotel. On our next trip, we'll use the bus system to get where we need to go. Be prepared for lots of walking, which will include stairs, and rough city sidewalks/streets. We visited several places while there, including the Basilica and Tepeyac Hill, the Cathedral, Maximilian Palace, and The CRIT Center (Teleton). There is some shopping within walking distance of the hotel, also banks, a liquor store, several restaurants, a couple of bars and some interesting places for picture opportunities. Be prepared for people on the street, do not accept a shoe shine from someone carrying a bucket, we were given some bills back, and it was good money, but it was old and not in use, so now we're stuck w/ it. There were maybe 2-4 street people begging for handouts near the hotel, but you'll learn very quickly to not look at them directly (no eye to eye contact). We had a great stay at this hotel, the staff was very accommodating, the pool was beautiful as were the hot tubs, and they do have a business center w/ computers available.

Shopping tip:
Long walk from hotel
Have good walking shoes. Know your currency rate/exchange from US dollars to Pesos. Be aware of people on the street. If you don't need it outside the hotel, don't take it with you, lock it in the safe. Always carry a bottle of water where ever you go. And absolutely know where you are at.

Great Vacation Trip
Our overall experience was perfect. Except for a few problems that were resolved quickly and greatly by our good friend Francisco Velazquez, Front Office Manager. The service at the Level was great, thanks to Juan and the front door guys were great, specially Gonzalo. The only bad experience was with the Room Service Dept. but all other services were great and forgot to mention the downstairs restaurant where they served the buffet, the Managers, specially Cesar Sanchez and waitresses. We enjoy almost every afternoon at the downstairs bar. Thanks!!!!!!!

(They could provide with free WiFi Internet.. to make it perfect..) The location is just wonderful.. in the center of all the tourist attractions of Historic Mexico City.. and the business center... Right at the start of beautiful Paseo de la Reforma.. (Mexico City's Champs Elysses).. This is our second stay at the Melia and we love it..

Great location
The hotel is near by Zocalo square, National Palace, Museo Mural Diego Rivera and Temple of Mayor. The Forkloric Ballet is also walk-able. The foods from Room Service was the best among buffets and restaurants in this hotel. The main street in front of Hotel is closed on Sunday for bycicles and joggers which will cause some traffic hassels. The only dissatisfaction from me was I couldn't fill up bath tub with clear water. I kept seeing black debris which made me giving up the tub shower.
