Dining

Restaurant
The restaurant follows the eclectic concept of La Calona and as it's name indicates, pays homage to the artist. Also the menu is focused on International cuisine with a touch of French. The hotel has tables in the interior and in a small terrace so you can enjoy sunny days and also for smokers. The delicious menu is accompanied by a magnificent selection of wines and habanos. The Restaurant opens it's doors every day of the week offering breakfast, lunch and dinner service. Opening hours 7:30 A.M. to 11:00 P.M.

La Casona

The hotel was described as "historic"but in reality it was old and not well kept. The bathroom and shower had broken and dirty tiles .For breakfast restaurant was extermely unorganized. We had booked two tours that left at 8am so we were in the restaurant when they were to open at 7. The food was not out on the buffet and it it took a good 45 minutes for everything to be put on the table. None of the platters were refilled in a timely manner. Thinkling that 7am was just too early for the staff to be ready ;one day we ate at 10. The restaurant was crowded and again the staff and kitchen couldn't keep up with the orders and refilling the small buffet.I would definititely not reccomend this hotel due to poor organization and a poor location. It is not in La Condesa nor in La Zona Rosa but on the outer edges of both.

Comfortable hotel in Mexico City

This hotel was exactly what I was looking for - relatively economical and very comfortable. It had everything I needed. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Even though I had a room on the street-side, I didn't find the street noise to be very bothersome, but I suppose if you are very sensitive to noise it could be an issue. The staff was the best part - incredibly friendly and helpful in every way I asked. They arranged for clean and dependable cabs whenever we didn't feel like metroing and gave us detailed instructions on how to get to nearby banks and restaurants. My only complaint was the AC. While it certainly cooled off the room, we did notice that it was building up condensation and started dripping slowly. We ended up turning it off so it didn't continue dripping during the night, but it wasn't so hot we couldn't live without it. Everything else was great.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of this place, but I think it's in the direction of the big street Chapultepec. The staff at the hotel could probably figure it out. It had awesome funk/hiphop music and absolutely awesome pizza and appetizers. The chocolate brownie's to die for. It's about a 3 block walk from the hotel.

Wonderful, classic old-style Hotel

La Casona gives you a feeling of the old days - old style building with fairly big rooms and a feeling of history. The neighborhood is surprisingly quiet, the food in the restaurant is good, and it was close to great museums. Suggestions for improvement would be either ceiling fans or other fans in the rooms. We would definitely stay there again!

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

Walking to Parque Chapultapec is possible, though we got turned around and needed some direction. Only a short cab ride, though. Lots of great museums there ( we could spend 2-3 days at the Museo de Anthropologie alone). Remember that all the Museums are closed on Mondays when you plan your trip.
