Perfect, No Buyer's Remorse
Everything is as nice in person as it is in the pics--no surprises. Overall hotel is of high quality w/ great décor, staff, and beds. Room awesome. Single queen bed w/ soft mattress and lots of fluff from pillows and sheets. Flat panel TV in room w/ lots of channels in English and Spanish. Bathroom clean, upscale w/a modern sink, a toilet w/ a toilet seat, and whirlpool bath. Safe in room works. WiFi fast, spotty at night. Location excellent. Near Turibus stops, Metro Cuatémoc, amazing up scale mall nearby (.5mi left when exit lobby), along main ave., near Zona Rosa. This hotel is a Go.

Just okay
The Emporio Hotel in Mexico City is a great boutique hotel for a day or two but, not for business. The business amenities need an upgrade, the computers are very slow. There is only one printer and you have to email your document to the business center staff person in order to have it printed. She does not arrive until 9:00 AM and leaves at 5:45 PM. If you need to use the business center before or after those hours, it is difficult. The hotel has been renovated, it is clean and well kept. The rooms are small with limited closet space. All rooms have nice flat screen TVs and dvd players. The bathrooms are spacious and new. The hotel is very secure, there are men in suits wearing earpieces everywhere(very secret service like). There is a coffee shop on the ground floor with a variety of coffees, tea, cold drinks, light fare and desserts. The coffees are good. The restaurant/bar is on the first floor and the food is less than desirable. The menu has been the same for the last couple of years and is quite bland. The hotel offers taxi service, the fee is a little higher but worth it. I use the service for security reasons. There aren't any good restaurants within a couple of blocks of the hotel and there is not much to do within walking distance. If you decide you want coffee in your room, be sure to ask for a lid on the carafe.

Great value at Orbitz!
I booked at a "special" Orbitz rate that was about 1/2 the rack rate. Fantastic value! This is part of a medium-sized chain of boutique hotels in Mexico. It offers comfortable rooms and amenities. The regular room was fine for one person, but would be cramped for two. Otherwise the location was ideal for tourist activities (I walked to the Zocalo, Park/Anthro museum, Polanco district, etc). Reforma, the street in front, is mostly closed off on Sundays for bicyclists. Overall an excellent choice.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
There are lots of restaurants in the Zona Rosa and, not too far away, in the Polanco district. I went in search of one I read about, which had gone out of business, but there were plenty of other options. Just wander and enjoy!

A great hotel: secure, and well located
This hotel offers a great base to explore Mexico City; located on Reforma, just a minute from Insurgentes, and the Metrobus stop, it also offers easy access to the historical center of the city, on buses that run along Reforma. The park at Chapultepec and the Metro station at Auditorio are a little further afield, but easily walkable, or just a short bus ride away. During the day, the area is busy and seems safe; at night it might be better to be cautious - but that goes for most of Mexico City, I think. I was in a 'Petite Room' which was, indeed, small - but not ridiculously so. It was quite stylishly decorated, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was pleasant, with a good shower, although the jacuzzi bathtub was rather small, and had ridiculously low water pressure, so it took forever to fill. The hotel description made reference to free wifi - but that is only available in the lobby and restaurant areas; the room had an Ethernet port. The coffee shop downstairs in the front of the hotel has a good selection of coffee, and is a good place to watch the world go by outside; however it seemed to close early on weekend evenings. I didn't eat at the more formal restaurant, but the causal restaurant/bar was spacious, attractive, not too expensive, and the food was quite good. The staff were friendly and helpful, although the slightly over-evident presence of security staff and video cameras in public areas took a little getting used to; although it was also reassuring at the same time.

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
Take Metrobus south to Poliforum, and go eat dinner at Bellini's - the revolving restaurant, at the top of the World Trade Center - good food, fabulous views. And while you're there, visit the Poliforum itself, and marvel at the giant murals.

swank and comfortable
the staff were wonderful and extremely helpful. the room itself was gorgeous and had been re-modeled to be not only architecturally stunning but also eco-friendly (dual flush toilets etc.). the bed was amazingly comfortable. i did have some issues with internet access and my room key kept needing to be re-set. overall, i enjoyed my stay immensely.

Great stay!
The hotel is located on a nice spot on the reforma. Suprisingly, the pictures posted are actually what the hotel look like, unaltered and true. It is next to a bank so a quick, safe run to an ATM was a plus. The petite room was quite comfortable; not overly spacious but ok for 1. The bathroom was quite nice. I liked that it wasn't too busy as with larger hotels. The restaurant is great; easy access and there's always room. Staff is courteous and quick. I didn't get the 15% off food and beverages as promised but that's ok. I will definitely consider staying there the next time I go to Mexico city!

Time-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
If staying for a week or more, consider stocking up on necessisties (water, snacks, etc) from the nearby oxxo or other small grocery shops. ***Ask for [...] (a bellman), he speaks good english and is extremely helpful*** FYI, the hotel is not walking distance to the US Embassy but a 5 minute drive. It is close to the angel of independence.
