Great hotel!

We stayed two nights over the Easter weekend and then booked another night the next weekend before we flew back to the States. The rooms are beautiful and the staff is excellent. The location could not be better for exploring the Centro Historica.

Elegant hotel on the Zocalo!

We stayed two nights and ate most meals at the hotel's restaurant and cafe, and were very happy with the accommodations and the food. The decor of the interior includes Art Deco elevators, bird cages, and most spectacularly, a Tiffany-glass type atrium ceiling. The staff were friendly and helpful. All in all, a very pleasant stay for a reasonable price.

Beautiful Visual of Cultural Richness

The hotel takes you back to 19th century Mexico, to the times of the Porfiriato. The view from the hotel balcony onto the historic center is beautiful, and you can witness the ceremonial raising and lowering of the flag. A few blocks away is the Bar Opera, where Pancho Villa is said to have entered with his horse and shot his gun off (you can see the bullet hole in the ceiling). For such an old hotel, it was great to see how well kept it is, clean and well kept. Great breakfast, too!

Beautiful, Historic, Worth it

This hotel is beautiful! If you want to know what the hotel looks like inside, watch the Frida Kahlo movie and look for the scenes when she is in Paris. The hotel is right next to the Zocalo. It is in a great location. My issues were the bed and mosquitoes. The beds were hard and there were mosquitoes in the restroom and I was bite every night.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There is a small cafe next door, when you exit the hotel, to your right. It has better prices than the hotel restaurant.

Gran Hotel Mexico City

This gorgeous hotel is centrally located in the historic center of town. The rooms vary in size but all are very nicely decorated with a great bathtub! We had a room facing the Zocolo and I would suggest that for the awesome view! The service here is amazing and everyone was very helpful!
