Great location! However there was a dominant mold smell due to poor ventilation of bathroom.

great hotel

We really loved this hotel. The pool was refreshing after lots of walking. The yucateca food was great at the restaurant. The room was clean and the grounds were beautiful . It really helps to have enough time at Chichen-Itsa and a wonderful place to relax makes a big difference.

A good one-night stay to see Chichen Itza

Location was perfect - a five minute walk to the east entrance of Chichen Itza. We had a little trouble finding the hotel as there were signs for it all along 180 but it wasn't clear if the hotel was on the street of the sign "hotel zone" or "Chichen Itza". It turned out to be on the "hotel zone" dirt road. If you get there after dark, it can be challenging if you don't know where you are going. The hotel room was on the small side and the beds are short for tall people. No TV for one night didn't kill us. Wifi was painfully slow and there's no phone in the room. They offer a breakfast-lunch or breakfast-dinner combo deal but since we are not big eaters, it's overpriced for us. Piste is 5 minutes drive away with loads of restaurants. We went into Chichen Itza at about 8:30am and it wasn't crowded at all. Since the hotel check out time is 1pm, we were able to leisurely walking through the sites and go back and pack our things.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Plenty of eating options in Piste. We were shocked that we were the only customers at Las Mestizas, which serves good Yukatan food.

Unique hotel but to expensive

The good: easy to find and easy walk to park entrance, restaurant has good food at a reasonable price, well kept grounds and pool, nice shower and beds, and interesting artifacts on display. The bad: bellhop was pushy and wrestled my cooler from from me, waiter was kind and front desk took a 10 minute personal call during the middle of checkout, very open restaurant where other guests can sit outside their room eating bags of chips and smoking while staring at you during dinner, no tv or radio in room, ac will not go lower than 25 C and was uncomfortable. Y si hablio espanol con la gente de este hotel. You are better off staying at Mayaland for $10 US more.

Next door to chichen itza

The hotel is wonderful and has archeology for exibition. I got there with my girlfriend at night and has big trees inside combined with the man made building. Price is good. There is giant trees all around. Pool was nice, i swam at night for a little exercise.

Nice Hotel, Excellent Location

The Villa Archaeologia is one of 2 hotels adjacent to Chichen Itza with a seperate entrance, which is nice when attending the nightly light show, or when exploring the site. Many artifacts are displayed around the hotel including near the pool and restaurant, as if you are staying in a museum. The rooms are clean and comfortable, although the beds are built in and the mattress may be a bit thin and hard for some people. Food in the restaurant was good, made fresh, and reasonably priced.

great hotel

it's located near Chichen Itza. Very convenient. The theme of the hotel is amazing, especially the room. It's simply, but comfortable. And it's design is unique...Also, it has a swimming pool. Gooooood. With the cheap price, it's really worthwhile for me staying.

Great location to Chichen Itza! Room was very nice.

About a 3 minute walk to the less-occupied entrance to Chichen Itza. Staying overnight in a nearby hotel and going there smack at 8am (before tour buses arrive around 10ish) was the best decision! We also took in hour-long massages at the hotel by a wonderful women who was very professional. The room was very clean; the only downfall was that the mattresses were on the harder side (which some may prefer though). The food at the restaurant was good; not great but did the trick. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel. Great value.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

I would DEFINITELY recommend getting the hotel the night before you want to see Chichen Itza. You'll get to experience the ruins with minimal other tourists for 2 hours! Made such a difference! Photos also look great without a lot of tourists standing in the way.

Good location

Good location to visit Chichen Itza. A short stroll from the hotel gets you to the ruins. Ok service. Wifi works in the courtyard but spotty in the room.

Marionetas in Merida

Charming hotel with nice continental breakfast (coffee, juice, yogurt, fruit) served outside on patio overlooking pool. Hotel is small, but one of many hidden gems in Mexico behind unassuming walls and doors. Large king bed, TV, desk and chair, and separate chair to sit in. Room was large. No hairdryer.

Shopping tip: Long walk from hotel

Walk is a bit far to the main square and most restaurants and shopping, not too convenient for running in and out of the hotel.
