Nice, but below my expectations

Bathroom is really small. There is no window in room, but a wooden door to the balcony, so a little sunlight would be nice to have. Rooms are only cleaned before 2PM, so you cannot sleep late. Front desk called frequently to the room to ask for permission to go in and clean. Late checkout is charged for 1/2 day rate, and wouldn't allow an extra hour. Pool area and hamocks are really nice, and location is fantastic. Nice hotel, and great value.

biggest complaint of the hotel

the bathroom had the sewer smell all the time that's so unbearable, and the shower is sometimes hot, and sometimes not so hot. Sink is never hot or even warm... Just not what I am used to.

Pleasant Surprse

The service was excellent! This hotel has real character... Loved the cozy atmosphere. There was live music poolside on the weekends. The staff is very personable well beyond what I was expecting. We had valet service so no need to worry about parking our car, the food was good we especially loved the pizza! The evening treats left in our rooms were right from the oven that day. Being able to interact with the owners was a real plus also. We really enjoyed out stay and will return here the next time we are in Merida!

Authentic Yucatecan Hospitality

This hotel is conveniently located in the historic district of Merida. It was walking distance to all the major attractions as well as festivals/events in the area. Lot's of restraunts and shops. We really enjoyed the rustic and colonial style hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly staff with a refreshing drink. The staff provided excellent service during our entire stay. The rooms were air conditioned, quiet, and the beds were comfortable and the rooms were charming and VERY CLEAN!! The restraunt was also good, we reccommend trying the cucumber with lemon juice. It was very good and refreshing! I would definitely go back!!

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

The best prices on souveniers and artesans is at the Mercado. You can deal prices with the vendors there and save almost half of what you would spend at a small shop or big toursist attraction. If you visit Chichenitza, Sunday's are FREE! Otherwise you will pay $16.00 per person and an extra $30 if you want a tour guide.

Biz Merida

I went to Merida for a 4-day series of Conferences. I booked online at Piedra de Agua and I was uncertain of the hotel at first. To my surprise, Piedra de Agua is a 3 yr-old boutique hotel with excellent personalized service. Cute little pool combined with a nice lit up bar. The marble stair walks you up to your room, which , at least in my case, was charmingly decorated with natural fabrics and iron works in combination with dim lights and other natural textures...even the amenities were crafted by hand. The hotel is located only a few steps away from the main plaza, Palace of Governments, etc and on the same street that leads to bigger hotels commonly used for biz conferences and talks. The only "but" maybe was that they didn't have enough plugs around the room to either iron or connect your cell phone or/and computer. I did recomend this hotel to a bunch of people dring my conferences and Im pretty sure could go back to it if it was for personal reasons the I had to go back to Merida.
