Within walking distance of three interesting areas. Near the plaza, lots of great places to eat and things to do. You get to use a pool at a place nearby. Attentive staff.

Quaint Mexican get-away

Would recommend Sat, Apr 12, 2014
Not only is the location of this hotel ideal, it's very cute! We were within walking distance of almost everything we wanted to see. The breakfast served was in a darling little book. You're also allowed to use the kitchen in the book whenever you like. The staff was very helpful and courteous. We would definitely stay there again.

Entertainment hint

Thursday nights in a square very close to this location is an hour long program of Yucatan traditional singing and dancing which we loved!

Cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in

Would recommend Mon, Feb 18, 2013
A lot of hard work has gone into this business and you will be assured of a safe, friendly, comfortable place to stay in Merida. It is the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in (and I've stayed in lots!). It is important to understand that this was a house which has been converted to a hotel, so don't expect a hotel. Both of the rooms I stayed in were without windows but as I was not in the room very much I got used to this. Also, the breakfast is very simple, not the large hotel style buffet. It is adequate, but be prepared. The staff speak English and are genuinely kind and helpful. The location is good - close to the southern end of Paseo Montejo and an easy walk to the main square. Merida is totally flat and laid out in a grid-pattern, so walking and getting around is very easy. While it was very convenient to arrange tours through the hotel - Mayan Ecotours - these were pretty average.

Attractions

Merida on market nights is really worth experiencing. Although it is transparently a tourist experience, I noticed lots of Mexican families out enjoying the music and food. The buildings around the main square are beautifully lit and this area feels very safe and no sign of the kind of alcohol related violence you might see in Ireland or other places where people drink to excess.

We have been at this hotel before and it just keeps getting better. The troublesome staircase to the second floor has been replace with that is beautiful and very accessable. The rooms ful of life and very clean. The staff as always give the very best personalized service. We will always go back to Hotel Del Peregrino.

Merida, Mexico hotel and city.

Would recommend Sun, Jan 8, 2012
Very quiet.. Close to city center, but far enough away to avoid traffic. Very clean in and around city center. Great walking distance from city center. Interesting conversion from a hostel to a hotel. Rooms on lower floor near communal eating (breakfast area) are noisy. Best is an upstairs room. Staff very personable.

Attractions

Visit to the hacienda Sotuta de Peon is a very worthwhile trip. A fantastic example of the henequen (sisal) industry of the late 1880's and what it was like to live and work on a hacienda from many points of view.

Couldn't have asked for a better experience

Would recommend Mon, Aug 15, 2011
I wish I could have given the staff and particually Alexander a 6 as he and all the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable, quaint and charming. We were upstairs which outside there was a shared patio with some tables and chairs which was fantastic for a couple of cervezas before bed. Downstairs there was a shared kitchen where a full breakfast was severed (although we missed it). There is a fridge with water, soda and beer to purchase at a very reasonable price at any time. The whole hotel is very quaint and charming and centrally located making walking to destinations easy. There is a pool about a block and a half away at a hostel which you could use. It is actually a nice walk and a nice pool which even has some hammocks over the water.
