Solid 3-star, great location

Right next to the archeological zone. Decent restaurant although the menu is quite limited. Free wireless in the lobby area. Be warned that this place has a resort feel but serves its purpose well.

Great Hotel in the heart of Chichen Itza.

This is a beautiful facility. The gardens are lovely and the staff is very friendly. There are several restaurants and a bar that looks out onto the observatory. We had booked for the hotel, but were upgraded to a bungalow. This was my second time staying here and we probably will again in the future when we are in the region.

Unbeatable location

This hotel has a perfect location at the gates of the Chichen Itza park. It is impossible to beat. Also the setting is very lovely amongst palm trees and with many birds giving a lovely peaceful feeling to the hotel. The rooms are ok. They have lovely wood carvings and beautiful stained glass on the doors. However there was a bit of an odour from the bathroom and the beds are a bit old. Both could do with an upgrade. The restaurant was not fantastic, nor was it terrible.

Good value, great location

Beautiful grounds, next to ruins. We stayed in a bungalow room... ok, but diid have privacy issues as there are 3 rooms per structure and could hear everything. Toilet had leak but was repaired. Fixtures show sign of age but functional.

Live like Maya

This is the hotel nearest to the Maya remains, and it has its own entrance, so you do not need to worry about the transportation to the site or the parking fees. Living here is just like living in a forest. You can see and hear birds everywhere, no matter you are in your room, in the resturant, or in the pool. And the staffs here are very helpful, so you could always count on them.

Mayan getaway

Everyone at the hotel were very kind and attentive. The location is so close to the ruins, which creates a true experience. Don't miss the light show at night. Only downfalls were the distance from all other areas of interest and it was a bit pricey. If you enjoy exploration this is the place for you.

Great Hotel

My two daughters and I planned a trip to the Yucatan and being slightly adventurous I rented a car so we could tootle around and see the sights. I wanted to be comfortable while sight seeing so we stayed the first five days at a beautiful resort in Playa del Carmen. I thought I was saving the more simple/less amenities type stay for the last two days at the Mayaland. I was wrong! The Mayaland is a beautiful hotel. The staff was more then friendly and helpful. While eating breakfast the first morning our waiter, Fernando, offered a guide for Chichen Itza. No pressure, just a suggestion. We hadn't been to Chichen Itza before so we opted for the guide. Again, we were so pleased with the decision. [...], was charming, informative, and accommodating. Our stay at the Mayaland was the highlight of our trip. Eating at the Mayaland was very pricey, 50 dollars for breakfast for three, 50 dollars for lunch for three ( no alcohol)' and I didn't want to face the possible price of dinner so we went into Piste each night and had a nice dinner for 35 dollars plus alcohol. I'm glad I had the car! We stayed in the main building of the hotel and our room had a window that looked out at the observatory, beautiful view, beautiful and clean room, very comfortable. We didn't really have enough time to see and enjoy Chichen Itza in two days and next time we will stay longer. My suggestion would be to definitely stay at the Mayaland but rent a car for side trips. You'll be glad you did!

Gorgeous

We arrived early to the Chichen Itza grounds and took a guided tour (the guide is worth it!). Just around the time we could take no more, it was check-in time at the Mayaland Hotel. We stayed in a room with a king bed and a jaccuzzi, and a beautiful balcony that overlooked one of the biggest trees I have ever seen in my life. It was ancient and gnarled and beautiful. We could also see the Chichen Itza observatory from the hallway of the hotel. We also recommend staying in the hotel or nearby to see the pyramids and light show at night. It was beautiful. We thought the staff was welcoming and friendly. The grounds were beautiful, and we loved seeing the photos of the famous people who had stayed there.
