The Hotel Casa Lucia is a small deluxe boutique hotel located in the historical center of Merida. The colonial style Hotel has it's setting in two different neighboring homes built towards the end of the 19th century. Located in the Santa Lucia neighborhood, the Hotel takes it's name from the nearby church of same name. The Hotel building, which was remodeled recently, preserves all its historical architectural elements, while at the same time allowing for the necessary modern guest comforts The rooms of this colonial style Hotel have floors of marble, high ceilings, and hand painted wall decorations. The bathrooms are ample and luxurious, covered with quarried Guatemalan marble, equipped with tubs, water pressure showers and taps made of English porcelain. The decoration of Casa Lucia combines several epochs. Special attention was made in preserving the French "Art-Deco" style of the building; wherefore the stained-glass "Tiffany" windows, the handmade blacksmith art works, lamps, rugs, oil paintings and furniture characteristic for that period. Here guests can enjoy incomparable comfort and luxury in a colonial style house that perfectly combines tradition and modernity. Hotel Casa Lucia boasts its own restaurant, "Cafe Lucia", which offers guests both international and typical local dishes. A fine example being the well-know "lime soup". In the hotel you will also find the fashion-line store "Fabrizio", specializing in fashion and high quality linen garments, including the traditional yucatecan linen "Guayabera" shirt. The Hotel is graced on the outside with outstanding gardens, abundant rose trees, bugambilias and two splendid stone fountains, covered with mosaics of hand painted Talavera tile. Casa Lucia offers tranquility in the heart of the ancient and colonial "White City of Merida". Guests feel far away from the bustle of downtown . Hotel Casa Lucia serves as the perfect base from which to explore the many contrasts that this fascinating city has to offer. Because of the Hotel's excellent location, guests have easy access to the historical center of Merida. Considered one of most traditional cities in Mexico, Merida continues to be a very important cultural and culinary center. Hotel Casa Lucia is only three blocks from several important tourist attractions of note: the Plaza Grande, the Cathedral, and the Museum of Comtemporary Art. The surrounding area is also a commerical center for traditional antiques. Nearby is Santa Lucia Park, where the well known Yucatecan musical Serenades are carried out every Thursday.

Perfect!

My boyfriend and I only stayed for 1 night but we would totally have stayed for a lot more had we been able to. Our flight back home was the next day. The room was gorgeous and right across the street form Park Lucia, where on Sunday afternoons the locals dance to salsa music. It was fun watching them. There was tons of hot water for my long showers and the pool was really comfortable to lounge around. The restaurant served really good dessert too. The lobby is beautifully decorated with art. If you want to be in the middle of things but away from all the noise of the main square- this is perfect for you. They also have spa services too. A wonderfully relaxing treat!

Great Location & Great Staff

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The front desk staff would always assist us in booking last minute tours of different sites around Merida. Additionally, they would obtain and research for us the response to any questions that we had about traveling around and outside of the city. Casa Lucia is a great location between the center of downtown Merida and the famous Paseo Montejo. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. The hotel prices are very affordable.

10 Day Yucatan Getaway!!

My Wife and I spent 10 nights at Hotel Casa Lucia with all our needs well looked after by the very accommodating hotel staff -- Debbie, Mario and Enrique were always able to answer our questions and provide information on various things to do and see; Carlos in the restaurant was always attentive at breakfast and made wonderful Cafe Americano. Our room was very large and comfortable with a king bed and good shower. The courtyard and pool area are private and great for sitting to read a book or have a glass of wine in the evening. Location is an easy walk to the Grande Square and many very good resaurants. Watch out for hungry mosquitoes wherever you go in the Yucatan!!

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

We found that day tours to Mayan sites (Uxmal and Chichen Itza) and other attractions (Celestun and Progresso) were much cheaper if booked directly through the hotel and paid for in Mexican Pesos rather than booking online and being charged in $USD.

Clean beautiful friendly lodging

Super room, lovely garden, extremely helpful staff. Set back from the road, so it was quiet. Close to zocalo. Good restaurant. Best coffee we had in Mexico.

Great central location for touring

[...] this is a gem. I decided to go for the lowest price $75 US per night then wondered what my room would be like. I was more than satisfied, large ceilings, terra cotta tiles, colonial artwork and excellent air conditioning. Sounds a simple pleasure but after a long day of sightseeing having a huge shower in the bathroom with tremendous water pressure, hot and cold was the tops.I read in advance that the breakfast was light continental so I was prepared. You can order additional breakfast items. In truth I was up and out sightseeing by 6:00 a.m. several days and did not have a chance for the hotel breakfast. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and I most definitely stay at Hotel Casa Lucia again.

Great central location to take day trips to the Mayan ruins, Uxmal and Chichen Itza are incredible. Great restaurants in town. This is the real Yucatan. It was my first experience at taking local and long distance bus rides. I tried all three levels, second class, first class and platinum. Even the second class bus was fun and interesting. The platinum service long distance is outstanding.

LOVE IT!!!

Our room was very big and spacious, the bathroom was so very nice and it had a tub. It is very hard to find hotels with tubs in the CENTRO (downtown). The gentleman at the counter [...] was amazingly helpful and very attentive. We got there on the second day of the Carnival and it is absolutely impossible to get around during this time because all the streets are closed for these festivities. [...] was so awesome that made our transition from the other Hotel to this one painless. He found a way for us to get to the Hotel and not only that but secured us a spot (front seats) for the Festival that day. We always stay in different Hotels during our stay in Merida and we are definitely staying in Hotel Casa Maria again!!!

Wonderful and Perfect Merida experience

We were impressed the minute we arrived at this boutique hotel in Merida. The unassuming exterior leads you to a wonderful, well appointed lobby, restaurant entrance. Colonial style furnishings and artwork adorned the space and walls. The desk clerks welcomed us and lead us off to our three rooms in this former mansion in the center of historic Merida. My partner and I were in the larger suite and our brother in a smaller suite. Our friend was placed in the other mansion building. All three rooms were historically appointed with tile work in the floors, painting details along the tops of the walls and cabinetry. Huge comfortable king size beds were in each room. Marbled large bathrooms with tubs and showers. We even had a safe and refrigerator in each of our rooms. Breakfast was included in our room rate, so every morning of our ten day stay we were happily served strong coffee, breads, croissants, and juices. Each evening after driving out and exploring Mayan sites, we came back to this oasis in Merida for an early evening dip in the large pool or hung out in the cabana bar near the pool. The location of this hotel is two blocks from the historic Center of Merida. Wonderful local restaurants as well as some upscale restaurants, too. Shops surrounded us and the big Cathedral, University, Museums, and small romantic parks were all within walking distance.

Location! Location! and Charm!

Right in the heart of the famous historical centro; only 1 block from the oldest cathedral of the Americas! Extremely charming colonial hotel with a breathtaking inner courtyard to be enjoyed either day or night. Very good pasta, thin crusted pizza and kebbe at the Café Lucia although the service there did not come with a smile (both occasions). Will recommend it to friends.

La Casa de Montejo and the Palacio del Gobierno's exhibits are not to be missed if you want to understand the Mayan history and both are just 1 block away from the hotel.

Did not honor prepaid reservation

When we went to check in around 1 pm they told us that our room had been given to a large tour group and that they would put us up in another hotel. Later they changed the story to say there had been a computer malfunction. At any rate, they put us up at a nice hotel on the other side of town, pretty much ruining our weekend since we had wanted stay in the center of town.

Better service than the Ritz Carlton

I have traveled extensively around the world and the service at this hotel cannot be beat anywhere. [...] made sure we knew where all the "happenings" were and even drew us a little map on how to get to a particular store we wanted to visit. We were lounging by the pool and wanted to get lunch and he insited on bringing it to the pool for us along with a bucket of Sols....We also wanted to rent a car and [...] at the hotel contacted someone right away and within 5 minutes there was a guy there from the rental car agency with the paperwork. He filled it out, we signed and he ran and got the car and brought it to us......You sure don't get service like that in the states.....We loved it there and would not stay anywhere else.
