A wide area of Hotel Gran Real Yucatan including the reception, restaurant and bar, business centre and recreative areas and gardens are part of what used to be an elegant baroque style house dating back to the end of the 19th century. It still conserves its wide passages and antique columns architecture surrounding the central patio. A wealthy family whos business was dedicated to the green gold of the Yucatan Peninsula el henequen inhabited the house.
The Hotel Gran Real Yucatan has 73 rooms, divided in four categories Deluxe, Deluxe Plus, Junior and Master Suites. All rooms have a balcony with pool and garden view. Also in all rooms you can find AC, LCD cable television, telephones, safety box, wireless internet, hair dryer and a variety of amenities for your delight.

A Great Place
We stayed for 8 days and it was just great. The staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful in all kind of way. The breakast staff were always there to serve you and remembered small detail of you coffe and toast. And the advertisement pictures were the same....

Short walk from hotel
Don't be afraid to experiment their food. Yucatan food is very good. We walk to super every night and came back to our hotel without any fear....

Fearless Traveller
Could Use Some Improvement
This is a beautiful hotel but they are lacking in a few areas. At these prices they should provide a complimentary breakfast of some sort. There was no coffee-maker or mini-fridge either so you were forced to get dressed and go find your own breakfast, either down in the lobby or down the street. The room felt small and cramped although the mattresses were deluxe. Pool area is in constant shade and unheated so only polar bears would enjoy it. Probably won't be a repeat client.

The La Belle Epoch Restaurant- Bar on Calle 60 has wonderful balcony dining. Also had fantastic Cuban music on New Years. It was the hot spot in town.

Not right by the main square,
Not right by the main square, about 5-8 minutes walk but very easy to find your way around as Merida is very small and it is structued in square blocks. In fact it's not a bad idea to be a bit off from the square so you won't hear the loud music played at restaurants around the square at night. The hotel looks new (or newly renovated) and people are very friendly and helpful, sort of family run. Room and bathroom are very spacious. The beds are very comfortable. It has a small swimming pool, quite cute and very clean.
