Great hotel, a little bit out of the way
I have stayed in Mazatlan many times, but this was the first time at Torres Mazatlan. I normally stay in the golden zone, so this hotel was a lot further north than I am used to. There are no restaurants, supermarkets, bars or clubs within walking distance, so unless you rent a car, you will have to pay excessively high taxi fares to get around. Unless of course you take the bus, but be warned the service is very sporadic in this part of Mazatlan. Having said all that, the hotel was great and they have everything that you could need within the resort. They have a little supermarket and a restaurant, so if you are content with what they have to offer on the menu, you would never have to leave. The rooms were fantastic, we had a 2 bedroom family condo and it was huge. It had a full kitchen and the living area and balcony were huge. The beach was a little rocky so it was difficult to walk into the sea without hurting your feet on the rocks, however a short walk north and the sand into the sea became smooth and flat. The pool was heated and you could right in without cringing, The waiter service around the pool could be better, we were always waiting for the guy to return to take repeat orders for drinks. All in all, it is a good hotel, the staff are friendly and we had no complaints. A little bit off the beaten track, but I would stay there again.

It was perfect.
Our stay at the Torres could not have been more perfect. It is a timeshare hotel, and we were not members, but we were not pushed to attend a sales meeting or pressured in anyway. Torres has the old world ambiance of "real" Mexico in the midst of Mazatlan's highrise modernity. Having a full suite (kitchen, livingroom, and separate bath) was a wonderful luxury at an incredibly affordable price. The mattress was perfect, and we slept like babies. Our room overlooked the pool and the ocean - all rooms at the Torres overlook the ocean. Sitting on our balcony, listening to the surf, and watching the golden sun being swallowed by the sea each evening was spectacular. The hotel and restaurant staff were wonderful (they learned our names the first day and never failed to greet us by name), and the restaurant was excellent - though the Mexican food selections were a bit "Americanized" with gouda cheese. The hotel exchanged our money at a great rate and helped us with all our vacation needs. The zipline adventure and tour of a tequilla factory (all-you-can-drink shots of the smoothest tequilla you will ever taste) is not to be missed. Stepping from the edge of the pool onto a pristine uncrowed white beach (shells galore just a short walk north!) and being away from town was a bonus, as was being north of town. There is excellent air-conditioned bus service every few minutes that goes directly to the golden zone, the market, and the center of old town - and of course a (more expensive) taxi is always waiting. We rented a car for two days (arranged for by the hotel staff) to explore the surrounding countryside and had delightful visits to small minning towns in the mountains. (Be careful of the speed bumps in all the small towns - they are not marked and quite a shock to hit at higher speeds!) At all times we felt safe and well taken care of by the the beautiful Mexican people. This is a vacation we would do again!

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
Take the zipline adventure and tequilla factory tour that can be reserved right at the hotel. It is a memory not ever to be forgotten!
