Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Panama restaurant is just a short walk away on the same street and offers a better value for your breakfast. Try the chilaquiles, they are good.

Its o.k....

The people were very nice. The food was o.K. The rooms smelled because it was warm and humid. I would not stay here again and bring your own liquor because the drinks are watered down.

Service was bad!

6 of us stayed at this hotel in 2 rooms from May 12 to 16, 2011 for a wedding at another El Cid hotel. From the check in girl to the information desk ladies, service was horrible. The check in was difficult with the lady helping us as she couldnt understand that we had 2 rooms and not 1 for 6 people and gave us a bit of an attitude when we asked for a key for each of the guests in the rooms. WiFi is not free in the rooms. It took 15 minutes for someone to finally give me an access code over the phone since I was connected to 4 different people each of which informed me it was 80 pesos for 24 hours of WiFi. Servers at the buffet were attentive, but you were basically pounced on by servers trying to get you to sit in their designated areas. This was very unappealing. Our second visit to the buffet, we had Francisco, who was great. He even gave us a discount since we arrived a little late for the breakfast buffet and they put food away before we could finish eating. Pool service was great. The information desk was by far the worst! They completely ignored us while we stood there. They chatted and texted amonst themselves even though I kept saying "excuse me" in both spanish and english. I finally had to go get a bell boy for them to help us and then they gave us the wrong information. The rooms were fine. They show their age but the beds were comfortable and the showers were great. The 2nd room we had, had some issues as well. We could not open the door and finally called down to the reception desk who sent up maintanance. We were told that the batteries were low on the lock and that someone would be jumping from the balcony next to ours into our room to unlock the door. You would think the hotel would check their locks for battery life. In an emergency, this would be a great danger. I will probably not be staying here again. I'll stay down at the El Cid Marina, where the staff is competent and helpful.

hopitality lacking a little

Waiters took a long time by the pool often forgetting orders, food was average, and they charged me $2 for room bottled water when I paid for the all inclusive package!! drinks were watered down try to order beer Ooooh and the frig kept me up one night then I told them about it, the next nights the same, and finally the last night it is leaking with much louder noise so had to unplug it !!! An extra free night is well deserved and I would have complained but had to catch a flight and now it is international calling rates !!!

Would not return

I travel a good bit and had recently traveled to another city in Mexico. I thought this hotel while clean was old. Staff was very friendly. Food including buffet was only fair. Rooms were just okay. My shower was ridiculous. It flooded the entire bathroom. Nice pool, but I would not want to spend my money to stay here again. Even though I had all inclusive elite, they charged me for water in my room.

El Cid Moro is sweet

I stayed in the El Moro tower, in a suite with an ocean view. I was on the all-inclusive plan, so all meals and drinks (including beer and wine) were included. Great service from all the staff. I was alone and ate at the buffets in the La Pergola restaurant morning and evening, and then at the outside buffet, near the ocean, for lunch. Food is good, though if dining is your number 1 reason for travel, you might be disappointed. This is a buffet after all, but the choice is big enough. I love this hotel. There's no hard-sell to buy time shares in the hotel (though guys might try to get you on the street), and the beach is right there. This is not turquoise waters--you got waves here, perfect for boogie boarding and bodysurfing.

Winter Getaway

We really enjoyed our time at the ElMoro. The pool and service poolside was great. The room was better than we expected - had a fridge, microwave and small stove. The location is convenient to grocery stores, restraunts, money exchange locations.

HORRIBLE

We stayed at the El Cid El Moro for one week this winter...a week from you know where. We have been to Mexico many times & loved it...until this time. The El Cid (ALL OF THEM) are antiquated & DIRTY. On arrival my husband & I were given a room w/ two couches (ya, no bed), a puke green fridge & a view of something that looked like a cemetary. We requested a room change & were taken to a new room infested w/ ants (granted it did actually have a bed in it we could call it an upgrade)...we soon discovered small ants were crawling in the bathroom from the ceiling down, on the shower curtain, counter, etc.. & the kitchenette, though not as bad. We tried 3 times (over our first two days) for the hotel to get rid of the ants (& no, we had no food left out) w/o success, finally we had them leave the bottle of bug spray & sprayed everytime we saw a ant-ypoo. Front desk service was snippy & rude, though housekeeping & maintence staff were excellent. The hotel did have a great location & a nice beach...but so did the Holiday in two blocks down. No way would we ever go back to that filthy pit of a "hotel". P.S. the beds are like a single egg crate on a slab of plywood.
