Listen to all bad reviews, they are true!

Let's start with check in: it took us 45 mins to check in. We stood in line while 2 girls tried to check everyone in while 6 staff members were walking around with nothing to do. It was terrible. The rooms: The smell in the rooms was horrible. It was unbelievable. The sheets, the towels, everything in the room smelled really bad it was unbearable to get use to and to stay in the room for long periods of time. Other hotel guests: There was a lot of young hotel guests that were really drunk most of the time. Banging on random doors late at night, screaming down the halls, vomiting in the hall ways, it was a crazy sight to watch. The food: Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! We did not eat once at the restaurant. The food looked unsafe to eat as well as unappetizing.

Beware if it rains

We had great weather the first 3 days but it rained on the 4th. RIU Santa Fe does not handle rain well. Our porch had an inch of standing water from just very light rain and much of the walk ways had deep puddles as well. If there's any chance of rain during your stay, bring an umbrella. Also, every building had roof leaks even the buffet room.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

You can make a reservation once a day for the four themed restaurants. Check the schedules for those restaurants because they're not all open every day so you can better plan which ones you want to try. Don't recommend the steak at the steak house but the other dishes there were quite good.

Food needs help.

Enjoyed my trip to Cabo San Lucas. The resort and room was very clean, the staff was friendly, but the food and drinks were questionable. The food was less than appealing and the Chinese restaurant was definitely not worth the reservation. The buffets need better selection, less grease, and fewer weird combos. Oh, and every mixed cocktail I had tasted watered down, I suspected the liquor was watered down. Better to stick to straight shots. Overall, an OK place for the price, but I'd eat and drink in town.

relaxing getaway

The price and location were exactly what we were looking for. Breath taking views of the ocean from the pool. Enjoyed the option of two large pools. Food was subpar.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Must take the boat ride to see Land's End. For only $12 they pick you up at the hotel and bring you to the boat which circles around the arch and drops you off at the beach. Price is roundtrip.

Can't beat the service, food and drinks provided

From the moment you walk in, you are welcomed with some tasty refreshments including alcohol. you get setup and the rooms are clean. this is a large resort. it is absolutely a well kept resort and very clean. despite the heat, workers were constantly cleaning the area. rooms were extremely clean and comfortable. multiple bars are available along the pool side including bars inside the pool. music is pumping at the pool with an amazing ocean view. the bartenders were amazingly nice and serving alcohol non-stop. despite having buffet serving food from 7am to 5 pm (better than vegas buffet believe it or not), everyday they were also serving hot sandwiches at the pool side (burgers, fajitas, carne asada, burritos, etc). the only issue is the location from the city in which you had to get a 5min taxi to get to the city. overall, you can not beat this hotel for the price, level of service and amenities provided.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

don't exchange your money to pesos as you lose more. also, while shopping when you negotiate a price ($15 but you give him $20). the owner will tell you that he does not have change so often people just say "forget about it" and walk away. the owners even sometimes send someone from inside the store to get a change despite the fact that they have it. this happened twice. be firm. they are playing games.

What Amenities?

Amenities listed were vague. More attention to advertising would make the stay more enjoyable. When we know what's provided we plan ahead. Free Wi-Fi was only available in the lobby area and limited to 90 minutes per room per day. The 90 minutes were a one time continous use from start to finish. If you logged in and used only 10 minutes, you had to wait 24 hours to log in again. FYI - unlimited Wi-Fi is available in your room with a credit card charge. Misleading....... The $35 SPA credit was not applicable to all services. We had to spend over $131 to use the credit. Towels at the SPA were not available unless you paid for SPA services. You had to bring your own towel and take the wet towel back to your room to be replaced the next day or you would get one towel less the next day. The beach towels were difficult to obtain. Each room is assigned 1 towel per person. Dry towels run out at 3 or 4 PM. That meant if you were ready to go to your room at that time you had to return at 5 or 6 PM for a dry towel for the next day. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner - the ones in the room are difficult to pump from the shower dispenser. The food was great - at all the food areas and restaurants. All bar drinks were good! The glasses used for juices and sodas were small. If you ask for soda with ice you need to ask for 2 glasses. We solved that problem by bringing our own soda from the room and requesting glasses with ice only.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

Don't pay for a partial view of the ocean!!! We paid the extra money and could only see the ocean if you leaned over the balcony and held a mirror on one hand. When we complained we were told we could get the partial view (same view) with a garden view instead. Rip off! Don't pay extra! The hotel location was OK. Four people can travel to the Marina for $3/person for shopping or taking a boat ride ($10/person) to see the Arches on the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. Friendly people on the taxi's and water boats. Everyone is friendly and helpful. A must see trip to San Jose is $35 one-way but well worth it. There are more shops and colorful buildings. Great trip to San Jose.

Nice and clean hotel. Great and friendly bar tenders. The food was good at the main Buffet. The mix drinks were good but the beer was so so. Over all I would stay there again.

First Cabo Visit

This was my first time visiting Cabo and it was the best time ever!! We went May 3-7th and should have stayed longer. The resort was great and the staff were so friendly. It was hard to get reservations for the 4 restaurants but we didn't mind because we loved the buffet. Everything was always clean and there was always an employee cleaning if needed. My only complaint would be that the beds are a little hard but we were so tired that it didn't even really matter. I will definitely come back here to stay!!!
