I heart the Santa Fe Riu!

Amazing time at this beautiful resort!Rooms: very clean, every room has a balcony, stocked bar with 4 upside down handles and a fridge stocked with water bottles, mixers and beer that they would replenish for free, great water pressure from the shower, good AC with ceiling fanPool: two large pool areas...1 in the center of the resort and one by the beach. The one by the beach is the best because it was an infinity pool with a breathtaking view. Didn't really have to fight for chairs which was nice. The swim up bars were great...[...] was my favorite bartender.Food: pretty good, i enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and we did the steak restaurant which was a nice 4 course meal. For any of the restaurants make sure to make the reservations the first morning you are there otherwise they will be booked.Staff: friendliest and hardest working staff. They were never standing still always chatting it up with the guests or cleaning. Always said hola when you walked by.

Amazing 2nd Trip to Riu Santa Fe

This was my second stay at the Riu Santa Fe and I would go back for more. The hotel has a great, fun loving atmosphere. The staff is always ready to help with a smile. Great location on the beach and beautiful scenery. Hotel is kept up and always very picturesque. You can not beat the Riu Santa Fe for value and a great time in Cabo San Lucas.

Wonderful Place!

The RIU is a wonderful hotel. It was quite possibly the cleanest hotel i have EVER stayed at. My wife and two children stayed there for a week and there was plenty of good activities for everyone. The location on the beach was great, with plenty of activities available right outside your door. We were there at spring break, so at night it was quite a fun party place (unlimited alchohol will do that). The buffet food was solid although it did get a bit monotonous after several days. Staff was wonderfully helpful and friendly. Overall, this is a great place for families, couples or even partying singles.

A Magnificent Vacation!

The resort is absolutely beautiful. The staff are continuously cleaning and maintaining the grounds. We ate all of our meals at the buffet or at the restaurant in building 7. We didn't book at any of the other restaurants as a lot of what they had on the menu was served at the buffet and it was just too nice to sit inside. Prior to leaving, I read numerous reviews where the food was criticised....honestly, my husband and I are very picky when it comes to quality and healthiness of the food we eat and the manner in which it's prepared. The food was outstanding! There was something different every day (we were there 10 days.On several of the days in front of the infinity pool, they would bring out large BBQs and BBQ chicken and ribs or they had fajitas. Also, the quacamole was the best I ever had. Definitely no complaints about the food, it was always fresh and healthy.Although we didn't book an ocean view room we asked for an upgrade to building 7. We were moved, no charge on our second day. Although it had a partial ocean view, it was perfect. We found the the main complex to be very noisy all night with party goers walking along the walkway and the sound from the entertainment area. Although we were moved no charge, we would have been more than happy to pay for the difference, trust me, #7 is where you want to be.We went jet skiing and parasailing. Do not go to the activity centre that's on the beach and part of the hotel...they charge way too much. Instead go see the vendors on the beach with blue umbrellas, ask for [...], we got a great deal and he took really good care of us.If you go into Cabo San Lucas, you have to go to Cabo Wabo or Squid Roe, both clubs are a lot of fun. In San Jose, check out The Tulip Tree, it's a nice little roof top pub if you want to get a beer and wings in the afternoon. You definitely have to check out the Roadhouse pub near the resort. For some reason, even the cab driver didn't know where it was even though it was two minutes away. When leaving the resort you have to turn left (big U turn) at the Pemex gas station. You will pass a Costco and then you 'll see electrical towers surrounded by a big wall. When you reach the end of the wall, turn immediately right. It's a block up the dirt road on the right. It's a truly amazing little place. The rooms were modern and very clean. The fridge gets stocked every two days but they will stock it if it's empty in between days. The beds were a little on the hard side but still comfortable. The sand on the beach was REALLY rough even if you wore flip flops. I would recommend water shoes. The waves were massive most days and so the water was not swimmable. If you walk 10 mins down the beach toward town the water is much calmer due to it being more inland.Overall, we had a fantastic time. Booking through Orbitz made the entire travel experience painless. We got constant flight info the day we left and the return date. Also, you definitely want to purchase the shuttle service (at time of booking) as taxis are not allowed at the airport. We would go back in a heart beat!

Shopping tip: In Hotel

On Saturday nights, the hotel has vendors set up a little market area at the main hotel's courtyard. The prices are very good, we were surprised how affordable their stuff was and you could negotiate as well.

Great place to stay in Cabo!

What a great trip! The hotel was beautiful and very clean. The food and drinks were very good as well. I've stayed at many all-inclusive resorts in the past and by far the Riu Santa Fe is the best-in all categories. Thanks to all the staff there too for allowing my boyfriend and I to have such a nice break. Guess I should also thank the media for completely overdoing the swine flu "pandemic" because there were very few travelers in Cabo!

A GREAT COMBINATION!

CABO and RIU Santa Fe--A GREAT COMBINATION! My college daughter and I decided on a last minute, much needed get-away. We were thrilled to find ever decision we made about this trip was a great one! The resort was beautiful, our view was straight off a postcard, and we never meet a staff member that wasn't friendly! And if you are a clean freak, this place is for you! (We counted 13 staff cleaning the pool area one morning.) The atmosphere was fun yet relaxing; the food was good and the variety was wide. This was our first all inclusive stay, and I am now a huge fan of this kind of vacation. We never worried about money, where our debit card was, did we tip enough, have we overspent at the bar today, etc. I know it made a huge difference in how relaxed and carefree my time at the Santa Fe was! The location was perfect too! So close to town! Only $5/person/way by water or land. We stayed at the resort in the daytime and headed to town in the evenings. We liked the quaint atmosphere of Cabo--the marina, the people, the music, the food and the beer! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect, relaxing vacation; we decided if anyone had negative things to say about Cabo or Santa Fe, the problem is THEM, not the town or resort! :)

Great Experience!

Staying in Cabo at the Riu was FANTASTIC!! The Resort was everything it was advertised and much more. Nice, clean rooms, great food at the buffets, drinks galore, pools, fun activities ... the best vacation we've had yet! Our only complaint was that the spa filled up very quickly (so no massages for us this trip) and not all the restaurants were open. For the most part the food was great (especially the buffet), but some of the themed restaurants left a bit to be desired. As expected, the Mexican restaurant was delicious :) If you are looking for an all-inclusive, this is the one to go to. Less expensive than the Riu Palace, but with all the same amenities. Don't forget to bring a little cash for some tips and the occasional game of pool at the sports bar.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Take the Snorkel trip on the PEZ GATTO in Cabo San Lucas. Drinks, food, dancing, snorkeling ... perfect! Also, try Cabo Wabo during the day if you don't want the crazy nightlife experience. Good food and (expensive) but good homemade tequila.
