Horrible Honeymoon Expierence!

Would not recommend Fri, Jan 8, 2016
My husband and I booked this trip several months ago to celebrate our honeymoon. We were so excited and had read the reviews for the RIU Sante Fe. We had read that some people didn't like to food, it was hard to get reservations for the theme restaurants etc. We looked passed those reviews and thought we would be getting a good deal for our money. The RUI Sante Fe is geared towards a young crowd (18-21 years old) and features all you can drink cheap liquor that will make you sick if you consume too much. The main pool is crowded and has an obnoxious Pool Entertainment Show that lasts from 10 am until 4 pm. Forget laying out and relaxing! The food was awful! Both my husband and I got sick from eating the food. We ended up spending $1,000 on cabs and meals in town because we couldn't stomach the buffet food at the RUI Sante Fe. To get reservations for the theme restaurants, you have to get up at 7:30 am and head to the front desk to schedule. You can schedule two at a time, but we were only able to get one reservation for the entire 6 nights that we stayed. The Steak House was ok, nothing to write home about. I didn't eat the meat or fish because I had gotten sick from the buffet food the day before. Our room was decent and appeared to be clean. The staff spoke English and tried to be helpful. My husband and I were looking for a relaxing place to spend our honeymoon and we spent 3k when booking this trip, plus another 1k while in Cabo and had the WORST time! I was so thankful to check out of the RUI Sante Fe! If you are 19-21 years old and looking to party hard and cheap, go for it!

Getaway

Would not recommend Mon, Dec 21, 2015
Hotel and pool area were nice. The rooms could be better. The bed was horrible, had backaches the entire time. The rooms were very dated not up to date. The in room wifi (if purchased) was in and out. The food was okay, they had a buffet and 4 other restaurants for reservations (Mexican, Steakhouse, Italian, Asian). The Mexican was horrible, Steakhouse was okay, Italian was probably best).

Not what I expected

Would not recommend Tue, Dec 1, 2015
Party in the front retirement community in the rear There was no balance it was either drunk 20 year olds in the front pool over looking the ocean or the time share community in the rear of complex . We travel with a 27 and 14 year old and it was just ok . The food was poor couldn't get reservation to restaurants we ate off the resort 3 nights out of 4 . The spa service was good the spa it self was poor run down the tables are in need of upgrade the jacuzzi was no different then a standered tub w/jets . No elevators at resort so get a bellman . Bathrooms were far and few from access . This stay makes me question ever staying at a Riu again .

Would recommend Sun, Nov 29, 2015
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. One time the whole hotel's cold water was shut off . The beds are a little on the hard side and the door to the restroom made a lot of noise. Besides that everything was fantastic.

Great time!!

Would recommend Fri, Nov 27, 2015
My boyfriend and I stayed at the RIU for 6 days and had a great time. Good: I've traveled to different places & staff is much friendlier in Mexico than any other place. The hotel is clean, pools are nice, entertainment could be funny & engaging. If you rsvp at the restaurants, don't waste your time at the steak one wasn't too great. I personally enjoyed the Italian and Asian restaurants more. If you want more of the party feel go to the infinity pools at the back of the hotel, near the beach! If you want to have more quiet time, stay at the pools that are located closer to the lobby. Location is very good considering you can go to downtown and it takes less than 10min. I recommend you ask anyone else who's going the same way, it'll save you some $. Cabs are $14 each way but are less if it's a group of 4 or more. We paid $3 each (one way) when we tagged along with another group that was going from the RIU to downtown. What I didn't like was not being able to get in the beach that is connected to the hotel. However, you can walk to Medano beach and go for a swim. The wifi sucks!!! I have stayed at different RIU's (jamaica, bahamas, DR, etc) and I enjoyed the one in Cabo the most! Staff plays a big part in this. Mexican people are very welcoming and their hospitality could make your vacation very pleasant. I recommend the RIU Santa Fe! I will definitely be going back there again in the near future.

Bad food horrible beds

Would not recommend Wed, Nov 25, 2015
The food was not great. The only meal I enjoyed was a ribeye from el torote. The staff and service is great but eat in town. The beds were hard. My back is still sore. The rooms were nice. Hotel is nice, just needs better beds and better buffet food. Don't go to pacha, go downtown if you want to do a nightclub.

FABULOUS RESORT

Would recommend Wed, Nov 25, 2015
This was one of the best resorts we have ever stayed at. The grounds and pools were fantastic. They had 3 swim-up bars, and a beautiful inifiniti pool. The food was fantastic, only negative there was I gained 7 pounds. The only reason I did not give them an overall score of 5, was the fact the building our room was located in did not have an elevator, in fact only the largest building had one. They did move us to a ground floor room, after complaining.
