Rooms
RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas All Inclusive utilizes bold design elements -- thick columns and lovely arches, for example -- to stir drama in its 642 rooms. A tropical palette grounded in rich ambers, coppers and browns keep the rooms warm and inviting. Lavarino Cosso bath amenities, a minibar and a restockable liquor dispenser add to the comfort, while balconies beckon guests to take in the garden or ocean views. Suites pay extra attention to pampering thanks to a hydro-massage bath tub, shower cabin and bathroom.Dining
The restaurant options are vast at RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas All Inclusive. In addition to 24-hour room service, patrons can visit the many buffets and a la carte eateries offering international dishes and on-the-spot cooking stations. Four restaurants -- Misaki, Grill and steakhouse, Mexican cuisine and Krystal Restaurant -- require reservations.Recreation
A sprawling pool serves as a center for activity at RIU Palace San Lucas All Inclusive, where guests can take scuba lessons or float up to the swim-up bar for a refreshing cocktail. For fitness enthusiasts: an on-site gym, tennis and volleyball courts. For parents: daily supervised activities for kids ages 4 to 7 and 8 to 12 at RiuLand.
Day trip excursions are heavy on water sports, including sailing, jet skiing and parasailing (fees apply), while nightfall brings live musicians.

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
See Fransico on the beach outside the hotel by the volleyball courts for a fishing adventure of a lifetime-Go on the 28 ft. vessel Dr. Fish 11 and see if you can catch another 165lb Stripped Marlin like my son-in-law and I did. 8 hours for only $400 and it included the bait and license.

So Cal Dave
Very nice vacation.
We really enjoyed our stay of 4 nights (Monday-Friday). The hotel is perfectly located right on the beach; about 45 minutes to/from the airport. We used the Gray Line shuttle service, which was $74 USD round trip for two. 10-15 minute ($12 USD one way) cab ride into Cabo. The gym was actually better than the typical hotel gym. There were plenty of cardio (treadmills and stair steppers) and weight machines; workout towels were provided. Secured facility with a staffed guard gate checking who does and doesnāt belong on the grounds (every guest gets a wrist band upon check in). The staff was VERY attentive and friendly. Only four issues to mention. 1) Food was average but plentiful; 24 hour room service was very convenient. 2) The landscaping crew seemed to be "making" work for themselves as the guy was weed whacking/mowing the same patch of lawn seemingly every day outside our balcony (we were on the third floor in a partial ocean view Junior Suite on the East side of the massive complex). I had to keep the slider closed while we were in the room in the morning. Was nice and quiet later in the afternoon when we returned to cleanup (after the grounds crew left for the day). One day, another guest yelled at the guy to stop weed whacking the same spot for what seemed to be 10 minutes... However, the grounds were immaculate! 3) With an all inclusive you get the typical "Iām the only one here - drink until you drop - loud" guests, which were mostly in the swim up pool bars. There were a few revelers in the halls at night shouting and making noise. 4) There were smokers everywhere. So, beware if second hand cigarette smoke is an issue. Outside of that, we had a very nice time and would probably return to the property again.

Ugh It's cold here
Good value, but don't expect too much
As always Cabo weather never disappoints, and the pool at the Riu is very nice- Infinity pool overlooks lands end, and no problem getting a chez. However there are a couple of odd things, like the towel situation. They give you 2 towel cards that you exchange for 2 towels. If you lose these cards they charge you 25 bucks each. No extra towels are provided. Just feels a little chinzy. Also in the rooms you can hear every little noise in the hallway and neighboring rooms. Very clean and well kept rooms and grounds. Staff was friendly. Food gets a little boring after a few days, and reservations at the restaurants are oddly difficult. Stay away from the Japanese restaurant- it's not very good. The others and the buffet were ok. Very interesting mix of people, from party animal spring break types, to families, to elderly groups. Great getaway and good value, but keep expectations in check.

Cabo Trip Feb'12
Good solid hotel close to Cabo San Lucas. The hotel was very nice with a great view of the rocks near the arch. Could not see the arch itself due to the angle. Rooms were very clean and the staff kept the minibar and towels full. Pools were nice and big with two swim up bars. Drinks were strong and the staff was friendly and kept them coming. No bathrooms close to the pools. Sand on the beach was rocky so much it was hard to play sand volleyball. There was no swimming allowed at the beach due to bad undertow. Food was just OK, I expected more with this being a RIU Palace, but breakfast and lunch everyday was the same buffet food. Night restaurants that required reservations were always full and when we did get it were underwhelming.

Another great stay
This was the second time we stayed RIU Palace. The staff was very friendly. The entertainment staff do a fantastic job during the day poolside and at night for the shows. The dinners at the restaurants were all great. The steak at Krystal was so good that we went back a second night. We would highly recommend the Palace.

The Oceanside Suite
If you are staying here it may be worth the price to get an Ocean side suite. It is about 4 times as large as regular rooms but more importantly the balcony opens to the ocean. We ate at the Japanese restaurant and the buffets the only slight negative is the food is average at best. However the choices and varieties are plentiful. I traveled with a group of friends and we stayed at the resort a couple of nights and had a great time. It was also very easy to have a cab take us out into town for a long night (very long night!) for only $3 US.
