quiet resort to relax
The Melia Cabo Real is a very quiet and relaxing hotel. The room was very comfortable and the staff was excellent. The drawback to this hotel is the location. If you are looking for nightlife or trips to downtown Cabo this is not the hotel for you unless you are ok with spending $25 cab ride each way.Another option would be to rent a car which we did on our last day there.I would recommend renting a car your entire stay vs taking cabs especially if you are planning on going to downtown Cabo each night or day. The hotel was a good value because all food and drinks were inlcluded. We were disappointed with the Mexican Restaurant and buffets. The food was not very good to say the least. The Japanese restaurant suprisingly was very good so we opted to eat their in the evening excpet for the one evening where we could eat at the steakhouse. The drinks at the lobby were nice and strong a perfect night cap. The pool and grounds were awesome except that during our stay the swim up bar was closed. That was a bummer.

The staff at Melia Cabo Real were extremely warm, friendly and accommadating. The food was excellent at all three restaurants and the buffet. The Japanese restaurant was most enjoyable. The talent of the entertainment was surprisingly good, I woujld definitely recommend this property to others.

Romantic
Very romantic. the experience was very enjoyable. The only thing I found, was in the unexpected extra charges by the activity vendors (ATV trip). the drinks could have been a lititle stronger, but still the vacation was a great one.

Don't Stay Here!
We were extremely unhappy with the Melia Cabo Real. The food was horrible and left out all day. The all-inclusive includes two restaurants, yet we were unable to obtain reservations all week! We were promised box lunches to take with us fishing, yet on two separate days they forgot to make them. I would never stay here again!

VERY RELAXING
THE MELIA CABO REAL HAS A GREAT STAFF, VERY FRIENDLY AND ACCOMMODATING. THE HOTEL WAS VERY CLEAN AND INVITING. DINING OPTIONS NEED IMPROVING. THE MAIN RESTUARANTS WERE NOT AIR CONDITIONED, BUFFET SELECTIONS AND QUALITY WERE BELOW AVERAGE, BUT FOOD AT THE A LA CARTE RESTAURANT WAS GREAT (JUST NEEDS A/C). VIEW FROM POOL AREA WAS FANTASTIC. BEACH WAS QUIET AND PRIVATE.

AWESOME RESORT
The Melia Cabo Real Hotel (in San Jose) was awesome. It is totally worth it to get an all-inclusive package. The staff was friendly and fun. Our room was an ocean view, 3rd floor view which I highly recommend if you can afford the upgrade. We met people there that had a garden view room and it didn't even compare to ours. There was adequate space, including a nook with shelves and drawers (which is perfect for the girl that brings her whole closet), a big full length mirror, the bed was very comfortable and we had a nice 27in flat screen (the garden room did not). The bathroom was also nice. The only thing is that the maids would clean the room and not replace all the towels so we would have to call for more. We had in-room massages and it was nice! The Buffet style restaurant by the pool confused us a little because one day women had to wear a cover-up and another day, you did not. They had good food but it was always the same. They needed more seafood and variety. You also HAVE to make a reservation to eat at Kujira's (good food) and La Terraza, (very good food) which was lame. They would not take walk-in's! Some other guests said that they tried to get into La Terraza w/o a res. and were refused. And there was barely anyone dining and they could see on the res. book that there were tons of no-shows. They need to be more lenient when accomodating guests. The concierge was very helpful and nice. They didn't serve cocktails at the lobby bar until 5 or so. My husband and I wanted a cocktail after traveling all day, and you had to go to the pool bar which was inconvenient and far from the lobby after checking in. They need to open that bar at noon! The pool bar was cool (lots of bees so be careful) but would get very busy and although the bartender was cool, he needed help at times. Two bartenders would of been ideal. The pool water was a bit warm but if you go by the big fountain it was a lot colder! The shuttle only had 3 times to take you to Cabo San Lucas. There also needs to be more options for that. We also took the Cabo Rey dinner cruise (not included & more money than other dinner cruises, but very well worth it) That was a blast!!! We also recommend Red Rum Cabo in Cabo for deep sea fishing. They were very cool & my husband caught 3 dorados and a huge marlin. Overall, I highly recommend the Melia Cabo Real for your stay...We would deffinately stay there again!

Nightlife tip:
Short drive from hotel
For night life, you need to go to Cabo. Its just a 15 min. drive from the Melia. Take a shuttle/city bus. Cabs are $25 one way! We went to the No-where bar and El Squid Roe among other bars. Was totally fun! Did not get a chance to shop in Cabo but they had tons of stores! If you can't shop in Cabo, your stuck with what your hotel has to offer.

Beautiful property, cool clean rooms and the veiw was really nice.
I would suggest that the lobby aera and bar area ,which are really beautiful, should have ceiling fans. It really gets stuffy and too warm to sit there for long. Maybe a couple of the fans in the outdoor resturant too.

My review of Melia Cabo Real - All Inclusive
Grounds and decor were gorgous. I would put ceiling fans in lobby as was quite warm even in the evening. Staff was terrific! Another issue was the pool. Lots of kids, kids and more kids. Sometimes taking up the swim up bar. We love kids, but not at the bar.... Overall we had a terrific time and would not hesitate to come back..
