- Area description
- Los Cabos (The Capes) is at the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula. Approaching the Sea of Cortes by air the visitors experience a wide contrast between the miles of golden beach, blue waters and the dramatic red rock formations; suaguro cactus, palms and cultivated gardens cover the pale gold desert landscape. Los Cabos is divided into three distinct areas: SAN JOSE DEL CABO, near the international airport is a picturesque and historic colonial town filled with quaint shops and restaurants. CABO SAN LUCAS, 20 miles south, is home of many world-class hotels, fine restaurants and a very active nightlife. It's definitely the busy part of Los Cabos. Melia Cabo Real
This hotel was excellent! The staff works very hard to take care of the resort and were very attentative to our needs. The location is perfect as it is located halfway between Cabo and San Jose, with bus stops convienently located just outside the hotel. Melia has one of the few swimmible beaches in the area which was a bonus and the food was quite good for an all inclusive. Overall I would strongly recommend this hotel to others.

Take a water taxi to Lover' beach and arrange your pickup for 6:00pm. Sunset starts at approximately 5:30pm and is spectacular from this location. Plan to make a day out of it by bringing your snorkelling gear, towels and snacks.

Amazing Experience
I stayed for five days, four nights (not long enough!) at this resort and had a wonderful time. It's far enough away from the two cities to get the private resort/beach experience, but there's also a very inexpensive bus stop right outside the gates that takes you into the city (also a taxi ride is $25). The all inclusive resort was well staffed and offered everything my girlfriend and I were hoping for (excellent spa treatments). Two complaints: 1) our bed was very uncomfortable, despite the mattress pad they put over it after we complained the first night, and 2) hanging around the pool wasn't super relaxing due to the horrible techno covers they blasted for most of the afternoon on the day we hung around the resort. Overall it was a great value and we would definitely stay here again.

La Gardinas in Cabo San Lucas has AMAZING fish tacos - do not miss out if you go into the city for a meal. Also, at the hotel, you can make reservations more than a day in advance, something I wish we had known...

Melia Cabo Real Jan 2012
Melia was great, decent location on the corridor, the hotel sits back from the ocean and quite a hike to get to the water so if your a beach person maybe not for you, staff was great, food decent, you know buffet food is hit and miss depending on your taste, pool was great, everyone up early holding pool side chairs that sit empty for hours, nothing new if you travel or cruise, I am sure all the negative reviews you read are true enough but when you travel people always find something to complain about, go give it a try!

Great Getaway
Located in the middle between San Jose and San Lucas. It's a Beautiful faclity with a great staff. There were theme nights for activities in the event that you didn't want to go either Cabo San Lucas or San Jose. The food was good, but not fantastic. Premium lables were poured. The restaurant schedules were rotating so make sure to schedule on the appropriate night of dining. Overall a great experience....... Enjoy!

Good vacaion spot
The hotel is well designed with a contemporary look to the public spaces. The room overlooked the garden which is beautifully cared for. The buffet is excellent and so are the three other restaurants. The staff are efficient and cheerful. Morning Yoga was a good way to start the day.
