Quiet beach getaway

Fantastic luxury, rooms, service, food, pools, attention from staff, butlers, maids, chefs, beach location and decor. Be aware however that in late August and early September it is very hot, the sun is ferocious. The beach is very large, long and beautiful, totally pristine, however do not expect to jump in the surf, as the drop off is steep, and the waves and current strong, so its advisable to go to protected bays for swimming. A great, five star luxury experience overall.

First Class all the way

My daughter and I were supposed to go to Japan two weeks after the terrible earthquake and tsunami. We switched gears and decided to take a trip to relax. We had both heard good things about Las Ventanas and were lucky enough to be able to book a room on short notice. Everything about the hotel is terrific. A gorgeous setting; lovely facilities; terrific food; a warm and accommodating staff; and access to a myriad of activities. We didn't play golf (three courses are nearby, with one adjacent to the hotel) but we took tennis lessons, my daughter went surfing, we had a private yoga session on the beach, and partook in the terrific spa services on the premises. The swimming pools are beautiful, with varying water temperatures to suit every preference. One of the pools is 40 meters long for lap swimmers. There are a variety of dining options, and we particularly enjoyed the Mexican Guaycura Barbeque with fire dancing on the beach. The butlers outside each group of rooms take care of any and every detail you might need or want. I have traveled quite a bit, and although this hotel is pricey, I can honestly say that this is probably overall the nicest place I have ever stayed.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

It was interesting to visit two nearby properties, Esperanza and One and Only Palmilla, for dinners two nights. The dinners were very nice (Esperanza's restaurant is in a dramatic setting overlooking the beach and waves crashing on the rocks, and Palmilla's restaurant is run by Jean Georges,) but in both cases we were glad we were staying at the more subdued but yet very elegant Las Ventanas.

Exceptional Service

We stayed at Las Ventanas in Cabo. While everything from the room to the food and beverages was expensive, the service was exceptional. The staff was incredibly warm and helpful and the resort itself was beautiful. They went out of their way to make sure you had everything you needed. We had a wonderful time on the beach, at the pool, and horseback riding! We are looking forward to going back in the next year.
