Decor takes cues from the beachside setting, thanks to sand-colored bedding, walls and artwork. Marble bathrooms and spacious living rooms create an opulent feel in imperial suites, where Wi-Fi access, satellite TV and a coffee maker are standard amenities. Nice short vacation
We just returned from a very nice four-night stay at the "Fiesta Americana Grand Los Cabos Golf & Spa." The hotel is fairly secluded but the views are great. The staff is very helpful. Since it was only the beginning of high season in Cabo San Lucas, the hotel was rather empty. As a result, we had no problem finding a lounge chair by the infinity pools or the beach. Even though the hotel is located along a sandy beach, water shoes are recommended when swimming as there are numerous rocks underwater. When we made our reservation we were under the impression that Internet access was free. It turns out that it was not. Instead, it is fairly expensive. We only ate a couple of times at one the hotel's restaurants. Both times, the food was very good but slightly pricey.

A Nice Romatic Escape
This was a short 5 day trip for my wife and I - first trip in quite some time without the kids. Fiesta Americana really is a beautiful resort. The pools are stunning, the rooms are very nice and well put togeteher - overall, worth the last minute deal we received online. However, there were definately some things you should take into account. First, the food throughout the resort is not only over-priced, but also very ordinary and nothing to look forward too. The staff throughout the premises are really great, accept those at the front desk. Way to much attitude!

Beautiful hotel with a few small issues
Hotel was beautiful and staff was friendly. I would recommend, but a few issues to take note of: We were a little disappointed because after we booked our reservation, we saw online that they were offering a free upgrade which included extras like free breakfast, afternoon cocktails and a nicer room - we asked them if they could extend this promotion to us and they told us no since we had already booked our room before they put the offer online. Not the end of the world, but we felt that they could have cut us a break considering that we were there during a very quiet time (the hotel was maybe 10% full). Make sure you search online for promotions BEFORE booking your room! Hotel is a bit far from the marina, but they do offer a shuttle for $10 per person (cab is $20 each way so it's a good deal). Only problem is the shuttle picks up/drops off only a few times a day, so you have to arrange your schedule around them. Food at the hotel was decent but pricey, so we liked to go into town for cheaper and more authentic meals. Beach is not swimmable, but we didn't mind taking the shuttle to the other beaches. The hotel grounds are beautiful so we did enjoy having a few days laying by the pool/beach and it's especially pretty at night with the torches (has a more intimate, romantic feel than other large hotels). Not sure if there was some kind of "employee friends and family" thing going on, but there were several large local families hanging around the pool that didn't seem to be guests of the hotel. They brought large coolers of snacks and drinks, which you wouldn't expect to see at a 5 star hotel. Yes, ordering food from the hotel is a bit expensive and I understand that some people may want to bring their own food to save money, but there is a more discreet way to do it and not act like you're on a camping trip. For example, we were in the jacuzzi when a large family came over dragging their cooler and then we watched in horror as an elderly lady calmly poured maple syrup (not joking) into a little boy's hand as he sat in the jacuzzi, which he licked off and then rinsed his sticky hands in the water. Overall, it made what could have been an upscale pool experience into a tacky atmosphere.

Great Spot on the Water
Fiesta Americana was a treat. The Passport Package made a big difference and provided great amenities at the hotel. Spend some time on the beach, in a cabana. Great location if you want to be close enough to Cabo but retreat to a quieter spot.

First time at Grand Club, Room #640
I last stayed at the Fiesta Cabo in October 2009, in a standard King room in the main hotel. I was traveling solo and had a wonderful stay, enjoying the hotel's 35% off promotion on food and drinks (that promotion has since expired). This time (June 6-9), my husband accompanied me and we got an early booking deal on a Grand Club room, which includes access to a private pool and a lounge with free food and drinks. Three days before our stay, we called the hotel directly to verify our reservation and room requests. We requested, in order of importance: 1) a quiet room, 2) top floor, 3) King bed, 4) nonsmoking. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were told they could meet all requests except for one, no King rooms were available. We readily accepted the quiet, top floor nonsmoking double bed room (Room 640) and were promptly escorted there after side-stepping the polite timeshare/ membership sales lady who tried to intercept us after we left the front desk :-) The room was clean, smelled good, had a fantastic view of the pools and ocean, and was indeed very quiet. Everything worked, nothing was in need of repair or refurbishment. We slept very well. We never heard any noise from the timeshare construction on the hill above the hotel or from the new hotel being built directly next door, to the west. However, the standard hotel rooms in the hotel's far west wing will definitely be impacted by this construction noise. On the way to the hotel, we had stopped at a grocery store to pick up a case of bottled water. The water was bulky and heavy. A staffer quickly came to our aid and carried the water to our room for us. We tried to offer him a tip but he politely refused. After settling in, we headed down to the Club Lounge for cocktails and appetizers (served 5-8pm). A wide variety of top-shelf alcohol was available, and the appetizers that night were mostly fresh seafood, our favorite. The food was high quality. There was shrimp, seared ahi, octopus ceviche, and various other goodies. Most of the appetizers came in very small single-serving cocktail glasses which discourage waste. The plates likewise were very tiny, so I kind of felt like a pig going up for thirds, but hey, we were hungry. I had a G&T, it was made with Tanqueray and was quite strong! They also had Don Julio, which I love. The food served in the Club Lounge changes each day, but there was always a sampling of cheese and fresh fruits and vegetables. My only disappointment was that there were no desserts save for cookies on offer only in the afternoon, none in the evening. If you are a diabetic (like my husband), you will do OK. Breakfast was Continental, no egg dishes or cooked meats. Mostly fresh pastries, cereals, yogurts and yogurt parfaits, cheeses, fruits, fresh juices, and coffee/tea. The coffee was not good, tasted stale and was lukewarm. If you are picky about coffee, bring your own (those instant coffee packs from S-bucks are great in a pinch). The Grand Club pool is nice if you like peace and quiet; there was NOONE there during our stay. Since the hotel was nearly deserted, we preferred hanging out at the main infinity pool or at the infinity pool & hot tub over by the Villas, which has a fabulous setting over the beach and wave-crashed rocks. On my previous visit, the hot tubs were not hot at all, but this time they were HOT! :-) We enjoyed snorkeling around the rocks in front of the hotel during low tide. In our opinion, the Fiesta Americana has one of the best locations for nearshore snorkeling of any hotel on the Corridor, when the conditions are right. On our last morning, we started to go in the water but were stopped by a staffer, who warned us about a jellyfish bloom. There were thousands of the little varmints in the water near the shore. Their stings are not dangerous, but the hurt like heck. I've experienced the same jellyfish blooms in other locations on the Sea of Cortez and have learned the hard way to stay out of the water when they happen...

Beware: Time Share Sales Pressure
We were looking to enjoy time together in a relaxing oasis. Fiesta Americana was looking for suckers to purchase a time share. We were not a great match. The Cons: This is a timeshare vacation club with a few hotel rooms, booked for the purpose of luring you in to their aggressive & insulting hard sale. The "deluxe ocean view" was neither deluxe nor ocean view (it was sparse with a peek-a-boo view of a sliver of beach). The "$600 value" resort package doesn't add up: We never got to use our "complimentary beach cabana" because - surprise - there were never any available during our 5 day stay. The beach is pretty, but not safe for swimming. The Pros: It is beautiful, and the service staff is great. Services and amenities were affordable. The pools were fabulous and never too crowded. We loved the outdoor dining, the fireside live music, and the location. Had this been marketed as a timeshare promotion - which it is - maybe we wouldn't have minded being assaulted by their offers the second we arrived. Since that isn't what we signed on for (or wanted) we felt duped and we won't be going back.
