Convenient Marina La Paz location
Friendly staff, surprising great spa treatments available. Easy walking distance to town. Nice views of town and the ocean! The room really could've used a good deep cleaning.

simple no thrill choice
After checking into my room, i realized that there is no light bulbs in the bed-side lights. I asked for house-keeping , they told me that they ran out of light bulbs. So I switched to another room. And when I tried to adjust my air-conditioning, the cover plate of the control panel fell out. I called house keeping again. I think you get the idea... And when the air conditioning finally works, it was a bit noisy, so I slept with my ear plugs. The shower tends to be a bit weak ,and water is only warm (thankfully its 100 degrees out so no big deal). The best part of the room is the firm bed(s). The staff is basically friendly, but speak limited English. The pool is OK, but avoid weekends when lots of kids are around. Taxi to town is 50 Pesos, so I prefer a stroll along the water. In short, book it if there is a super-deal, otherwise stay elsewhere. EZ

Nice place Friendly Service
The people at the hotel where out to please. The restaurant was fair; the fish and chips where great. The beef is not up to U.S standards. The views are great and 80 deg. fahrenheit in February isn't bad.

Beautiful View of the Marina
This is the second time I have stayed in this hotel. The location is on one end of the malecon and is approximately a 15 - 20 minute walk to the center of the malecon. There is always a taxi in waiting out front if you prefer not to walk. It's a very safe and beautiful walk. As for the hotel, it is basic but a good hotel for mexico. The rooms are clean and the view of the marina below is beautiful. The free wireless service is definitely a bonus and comes in very handy. The front desk receptionist was very friendly and courtesy. I did not eat at the hotel as I would eat at different restaurants in town but the food I saw looked good. I was here for mostly business but also enjoyed the daily walk along the malecon and of course the excellent seafood. La Paz is a very friendly and slow paced city and I will be coming back.

Long walk from hotel
As for dining along the malecon, I would recommend the Bismarck for shrimp tacos, Tuscany's for good Italian food and pizza (one block up from the malecon), Buffalo for great steaks (one block up from the malecon) and Rancho Viejo located at the far end of the malecon one block up for breakfast and dinner, this is their dining restaurant so don't confuse it with their a la carte locations. The a la carte location next to Thrifty ice cream is good for carne asada and arranchera tacos.

Great water view
I enjoyed the hotel very much. The room and bathroom were very clean and the view of the water was outstanding. The only negative was that when I checked in the agent told me that breakfast was included but after I ate I found out that she made a mistake and they would not pay for the breakfast. They did offer a 20% discount for the breakfast because of their mistake. If one does not have a car the hotel is a long walk from town.

Not a spa at all
I was suppose to have a relaxing experience during my vacation there: scuba diving, some treatment at the SPA and of course, some days at the pool. But it was not that way at all, the problem starts at the front desk, where things seem to be chaotic and the staff do not follow up on the requests you made. Despite the pool is equiped with heating, it is kept always cold, as well as the jacuzzi, by the way if you want a drink at the pool, you will need to chase the bar tender, since nobody are offering anything there. Breakfast in the morning is really good, but with no changes during the week; and, if you do not want to take the long walk to downtown, the variety for lunch or dinner is really limited. On the other hand, the internet connection is really fast and available in every area of the hotel, also the room service works really fast with the same food of the restaurant. The views from the uper floors are fantastic. The tenis court is nice but a fee is charged per hour; and even though they ad themselves as a beach hotel, they do not have direct access since the Marina has control over the entire area, and there is no beach at all there, some other sports like kayaking are out of the question, since you need to arrange for that on your own outside of the hotel facilities. Maybe convenient for business travelers.

If you are diving contact directly Club Cantamar, they have the best facilities and boats and equipment for a nice dive, they will also pick you up (and return back) at the front desk in your hotel.

Cozy Comfort
This is an older hotel with a lot of atmosphere and ambiance. The grounds around the pool and restaurant are lushly landscaped, and there is definitely a relaxed feeling to the common areas of the property. The rooms are smallish, but adequate, and are arranged so that each room has a sliding glass door with a view. Ours was of the marina, and was very picturesque. The hotel is at the edge of town, but within a short driving distance of the Malecon. We ate some of the best tacos of Arrachera at a place right on the Malecon called "Rancho Viejo". We later heard from a variety of different sources that "Rancho Viejo" is the best taqueria in La Paz. Around the corner we found an italian gelato place and had a delicious banana split.
