New Year's Vacation
We loved everything about this hotel. The room had a beautiful view. The room and the entire hotel was extremely clean. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to please everyone. The New Year's Eve Celebration was incredible!!!!! My kids loved the Sports and Entertainment staff.

The staff were helpful at all times - they changed our room to another, better room when we were appalled at the noise level coming from the air conditioning units outside (they never change their decibel level);otherwise we would not have been able to open our balcony door. The food was good, but we had to buy bottled water for our room (go out to the market not the hotel shop)as you only get the first day's allotment in the frig and that's all.

Short drive from hotel
go to 5th May Street in Zihua for a great market experience. Take the colectivo bus for 80 pesos and the driver will tell you when to get off.

Our vacation
04/13/2011 Just returned from a nine day stay at the Tesoro. First time there. It is an old hotel but very clean. All the staff is extremely nice and helpful. Not the largest buffet but enough to choose from. Not a swimming beach when we where there. Waves extremly large. Need fans in rooms. We sat on the beach for the whole trip. Nice chair pads on confy chairs.

Avoid all inclusive route
Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Room was okay typical 3 star room, no frills simple and clean. The food at the hotel was horrible, recycled and we ended up getting sick the first few days and then ate out the rest of our trip which made it more expensive than anticipated. The gym was very dated with old old equipement but the beach is beautiful to work out on. If we were to stay at this hotel again we would not go all inclusive.

So many great restaurants within walking distance for a good price that all inclusive is not worth the extra money.

Ixtapa Tesoro
We really enjoyed our vacation. The weather was great, the room was clean and the staff were very helpful. The food was good, but there could have been more bartenders at the bar because it got very busy and the line was long. The entertainment in the evening was very good and the costumes were beautiful. We will go back to the Tesoro again.

We got sucked into a 2 hour "Special Promotion" which is just another name for Timeshare. Avoid anyone that offers you a free taxi ride from the airport or $50 cash.

LOVE THE AREA BUT NOT THE HOTEL
HOTEL: WAS NOT THE BEST. THE STAFF BARELY SPOKE ENGLISH AND A LOT OF TIMES DIDN'T ACKNOWLEDGE US. WHEN WE TRIED TO ASK ABOUT RENTING JET SKIS THEY WERE UNABLE TO HELP US. THE ROOM WAS OK BUT REALLY SMALL, AND DIDN'T PROVIDE A SAFE FOR OUR PERSONAL ITEMS. MEALS: WE HAD THE ALL INCLUSIVE PACKAGE BUT IT DID NOT INCLUDE A LOT. THE ONE EXCLUSIVE RESTAURANT WAS NICE BUT YOU CAN ONLY DINE AT IT ONCE PER VISIT. THE BUFFET DOES NOT OFFER A WIDE VARIETY OF FOOD CHOICES. ALMOST EVERYDAY THEY HAD THE SAME FOOD FOR DINNER, AND IT WASN'T ANYTHING SPECIAL. THE SNACK BAR WAS OK...BURGERS, HOT DOGS, NACHOS, BUT NOT EVERYTHING WAS ALWAYS AVAILABLE BEACH: WAS NICE AND NOT TOO PACKED, WE WERE ABLE TO FIND GREAT SPOTS TO RELAX. ENTERTAINMNET: THE HOTEL SEEMS TO CATER MOSTLY TO SPANISH PEOPLE, SO IF YOU DON'T SPEAK SPANISH YOU DON'T ENJOY IT.

unbeatable location for the price
The Tesoro Ixtapa was fantastic! It's an older place, but very clean and comfortable. The staff is exceptional and are always right there to meet your needs. Excellent food and entertainment. I would go back in a heartbeat!

WARNING ABOUT INTERNET-Otherwise Great
Advice: Check internet access policy before you go. They have "free" lobby internet but do everything to discourage its use. They want you to use the in room which costs approximately $2 per hour or $10 for 24hours. It was almost a daily hassle to get them to turn the lobby access on. Almost enough to discourage one from staying there again. Otherwise the place is perfect. Clean, helpful staff, good location. Good value. Good food.

Take the bus to Zihuatanejo. Over the last several years they have made marked improvements. Great shopping and lots of restaurants. Bus ride cost is about $1.50
