Emporio
This place has a great location just across from the shopping and restaurants. The staff was friendly, and the rooms were cleaned pretty well. My gripes were that the floor in the bathroom was wet everyday even after they cleaned, and the club across the street was playing music all night long and you could hear it in our room.

Excellent vacation!
The location was fantastic. Great beach for walking. Also walking distance to any kind of restaurant you would like to visit. The waiters for breakfast, dinner and poolside were superb! Unfortunately, the hotel was unable to give change for US money, which caused quite a dilemma when we were leaving. Also, their computer in the lobby did not work.

Excellent Resort at a excellent price![...]Awesome staff from entry to exit.Become ill, and hotel had a doctor their in no time, right across the street is everything you need, shops, pharmacias, restaurants, may to choose from.Beautiful pool and swimup bar.Right on the beach,we will definitely be going back to the Emporio. The only thing we really missed, was entertainment at night, it would really be a positive for the Emporio. You can jump on the beach and parasail, walk the beach, about 7 mins and get a massage, or swim with the dolphins, which is 10 mins. walking distance from the Emporio:)Full of excellent people, we met the sweetest people from Minnesota. The beds and pillows make you want to take them home.

Good value; lots of children
We have vacationed in Mexico, seven times and five of those were in Ixtapa or Zihua. This was our first time at the Emporio. All in all, we feel the Emporio was a great value for the money. Our room, the restaurant on site, the lobby and pool area were all extremely clean. The ocean view from our room was fantastic. The only disappointing thing about the hotel facility was the lack of consistent hot water. It was hit and miss whether we had a warm shower or not. Also, the Emporio is definitely a family hotel. We are not anti-kids, it's just that we heard pretty constant screaming (in a fun way) from the pool area. The swim-up bar was a favorite hang out of the children. To solve it, we just avoided the pool. We typically travel from about Dec 15th until Jan 1st, so we are used to children being around--it just seemed like a lot more at the Emporio than we encountered at other hotels. If we traveled with children, the Emporio would be a good choice for us.

Short walk from hotel
Consider a walk to the Marina for some dining options and to check out the beautiful yachts. ZPizza at the Marina has the best pizza in town and their ZBQ salad is also excellent! The French restaurant next to ZPizza serves a really great Chardonney. It's probably about 15 minute walk.

Awesome hotel!
We loved the hotel, it was beautiful. It wasn't crowded at all. The staff was friendly and very helpful. You have to get an ocean view! The beach was steps from the hotel, just perfect. The pool was large and I loved the pool bar. You can play pool volleyball too, I loved that! There were many restaurants and shops across the street, I saw something different every time we went for a walk. You can get transportation by bus or cab to Zihuatanejo cheap, so we hopped on the bus and went for a ride several times. When we returned to our room, we would find flowers and towel animals on the bed, it was lovely. I would definitely stay at the Emporio again!

Okay, but not amazing
The one big complaint I have is that they advertise having wireless internet available, and they don't. I am not sure what the issue was but we asked the staff several times how to access their wifi and they never gave us a straight answer. We had to mooch off a neighboring hotel's signal (and that was by instruction of one of the hotel staff!). Lots of families with little kids stay at this hotel. It was not the most romantic hotel for a couple to stay in on their honeymoon, but their rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. The restaurant was okay. The menu was not very diverse, so after a night or two you have to go out in the town to find dinner because you are just so bored with the menu. I thought the restaurant was a bit over priced for the quality of the food.
