Second time even better than the first

We previously stayed here in 2009 and had fond memories so we returned this Spring. Everything was even better than we remembered. Rooms were clean and spacious. Staff provided consistently excellent service. The kids club provided an excellent diversion for the kids. A large variety of food was able at all meals. Best of all, the beach was perfect. It is only steps away from any part of the resort and had soft sand and warm water.

Lots of children.....especially babies!!

We've been going to Club Med for years, but hadn't gone for a while. This club is perfect for young parents as they have children's mini clubs for 2 months to 17 yrs. We are retired and were surprised at the amount of children there. It was a bit overwhelming and I don't advise this club to those who are looking for a quiet experience or honeymooners, but this area Playa Quieta and Playa Linda is one of the most beautiful I have seen in Mexico and the food was very good and consistent each day. They need more restuarant choices. If you go, I adivse you to visit the little island across the way for the day. You will get the real feel for Mexico and some nice snorkeling. All in all, we were happy with the experience and would definitely recommend this Club Med to Families and extended family vacations.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Take the local bus into town. It will cost you a dollar and the bus stops outside the hotel next door to Club Med Ixtapa. Be sure to stop at Ixtapa first as the area is much nicer than Zihuatanejo. The buses run from 7am to 10 pm.

Damaged Electronics

I go to a conference at Club Med Ixtapa every October for work. This year both my roommate and I plugged our laptops into the outlet and the power charges stopped working. I called the front desk multiple times, I tried to get my laptop charged at the front desk - I had to borrow a power charger to charge my laptop and when I got back home and indeed - the power charger - no longer worked - management said since I didn't say anything at the time (untrue) they wouldn't reimburse us the cost of the equipment. Perhaps one power cord can die - BUT TWO in one room? It really compromised our ability to check in with work. I just hate this place. The first year I went I got Montezuma's revenge and no one on staff would bring me anything to eat. They have a big buffet that is only open a few hours 3 times a day -- but since I'd been vomiting etc. for 2 days straight - I didn't think it was such an off the wall request to have someone bring me some soup. That year I was traveling alone. But since they didn't care and wouldn't come - I had to drag myself out of bed and worked my way to the restaurant in the heat (my room was not close to the restaurant) for sustenance. I just think unless you are their target demographic - a family who needs the babysitter -or a lonely person who needs the GOs to fawn all over you - STAY AWAY.

3 awesome weeks with family

We recently spent 3 weeks at this resort. Our kids (10 and 8) had a great time. My wife and I caught up with exercise, diet and had plenty of time for each other. We took it easy and tried all activities while having plenty of time to enjoy as a family. We only left the villa twice to go to Zihuatanejo and once to go to swim with the Dolphins. The staff took good care of us, their shows were a great entertainment for everyone. Food and drinks were great as well. We met other couples with kids and made good friends. We had a really good and relaxing time. We would go back in a heartbeat and we plan to go back next Spring.

Nightlife tip: In Hotel

Activities are conceived for all ages well into the night. If you have kids around the ages of ours be prepared to stay up late. If you want to continue the party you can leave the kids at the pijama club. It ends relatively early as you need to pick up the kids no later than 1:00am but for us it was good to have a hard stop to enjoy the following day and be able to attend the fitness class in the morning.

Fantastic 50th Anniversay vacation

The hotel is as beautiful as the pictures. Food and presentation were 5 star. Great staff that inter-acted with everyone and went above and beyond to accommodate us. This was our 1st all-inclusive and 1st Club Med. All of the activities were included at no extra charge. Kayaking, sailing, tennis, trapeze and excercise classes. It was our 50th Anniversary and there were 8 other family members that were with us ranging in age from 18 to 75. No one was ready to go home.

The club had just opend after the swean flu scare, only five families in the villeage. The local help was not very helpful but the international GO team was very nice and fun. The kids have a great time and the food was excellent. No room service! and house keeping is not too great. Take lots and lots of sunscreen!
